A must Read Anthology!
Alers never disappoints me. Loved Kenyon and Shumba's story. Who says change destroys a relationship, love conquers all!

Sims once again displays her talent for writing in this bueatifully written novella. Alana and Nico's story was very touching. It is great to have a friend around when a love one dies, but it is lovely to have someone to love always!

Hill's Masquerade was my favorite novella in "Love Letters." Hill shows her writing skills in this one. "Masquerade" was a fun and enjoyable read! Much love to all authors!!

I liked the whole book, Janice sims is my favorite though.
I read the whole book, but the one story I wanted to read over again was the one by Janice Sims. she just knows how to make vivid stories. Her romantic novels, to me, reign supreme. I am a blackman and if she can get a blackman to read such books then she most certainly has the knack for this type of writing. Even though she says she hasn't written her definitive work yet, I just can't wait to read what ever that work is that she sees as the definition of her talent. Indeed if not all of her books end up being made into a movie at least one of them should. Plus she is a poet too, you can't get better than that. Get this book and all over he other books. Janice Sims will soon be one of the writers we will always be talking about, don't take my word for it. Read the book for yourself.

I fell in love with Shumba the way he went after Kenyon.
Love Letters was a really good book and I really enjoyed Kenyon and Shumba story my heart with out for Shumba. I just wanted him to have her so bad. There was so much love there between them two the second time around,it is a must read book but Hearts of Gold is a must read short story in book.

Nothing But the Best (4.5 Stars)
If you've followed Rochelle Alers' Hideaway series, you
will love No Compromise, the 1st book in the Sons and
Brothers Trilogy.

United States Army Captain Michael Kirkland is at a
crossroad. His dream to remain a career military man is
beginning to wane. And the fact that his ranking officer
has been making covert passes at him adds to his dilemma.
To save his career, he decides to take six months leave to
determine his next course of action. Also Michael is now
desirous of some permanence in his personal life.

Jolene Walker, the director of a safe haven for abused
women, is dedicated to her job. She is convinced that
her life is just where she wants it. Coerced into
attending a private dinner party given by her best
friend, Jolene agrees to entertain a male attendee who
is without a date. She by no means expects this sexy,
virile, intense gentleman to be her assignment for the
night, but Captain Kirkland is who she gets.

As usual with Ms. Alers stories, this one if filled with
mystery and intrigue. Someone is trying to harm Jolene,
and Michael has decided that he will be her protector.
And because Jolene takes him where no other woman has,
he wants to fill another role.

While this story is very capable of standing alone, I
implore you to go back to Hideaway, the freshman story
in this collection, and begin a journey that will have
you immersed in family drama like no other. Eager to
revisit family members and friends, I read this book
in one sitting.

Loving!
Where do I begin. Ms Alers you have done it again. NO COMPROMISE is the Hideaway story of Michael Blanchard Kirkland and Jolene Walker. They met at a dinner party by FAITH and eventhough they were not looking for anything they were attracted to each other instantly. Michael was on a 6 month leave from his job at the Pentagon and Jolene ran a program for abuse and neglected women. I dont want to give away too much of the story but this book has adventure, romance, family values, trust and friendship. This story has so much to offer that the minute I picked up the book I was captivated and couldn't put it down. Anyone who has read Ms Alers book know the lady can write and this book is no exception. It seems each book get better. I looking forward to November to read Dr Tyler Cole story I know it will be excellent.
I wouldn't have thought the next story would have been about Tyler since there was more emphasis on Gabriel than on Tyler.
I just want to tell anyone who read this review JUST GET THE BOOK!!!

Excellent!
Rochelle Alers is definitely a master storyteller. The first book that I purchased written by her was Heaven Sent. I found that this book was book four in a series called Hideaway. I went out and purchased all the previous Hideaway Series books. I found her to be a wonderful, humorous and vivid writer. I've even read some of her story that aren't in the Hideaway Series. They all can definitely stand on their own. When her fans asked her to continue the Hideaway Series with the Daughters and Sisters Trilogy, she graciously complied. We weren't disappointed either.

NO COMPROMISE is the first installment in the Sons and Brothers Trilogy.

Michael Kirkland the military guru decided to take a long need break from the career. He was an expert in so many areas. I found him to be THA BOMB! He meets Jolene Walker, who is a tall and regal young woman. Michael is instantly attracted to Ms. Walker. He finds that she is not only beautiful, but smart.

Jolene is also attracted to Michael, but isn't trying to get involved with anyone at this point in her life. Besides, she is married to her job and hadn't had a real relationship in a while.
Jolene is the Executive Directory of a place called Sanctuary. Sanctuary is an excellent place for abused women to come for help and refuge. Jolene had to admit to herself and to Michael that she was really interested in him. She started feeling different about herself after she started seeing him. But she still didn't want to take things too far too quickly.

Michael and Jolene embarks upon an adventure full of love and intrigue.

It was so good visiting the other family members. I know Ms. Alers has two more installments in this series. I guess the question would be will she continue this series with the next Generation of Cole, Kirkland, Delgado. I guess only time will tell. I will say if she does decide to continue, I know we won't be disappointed.

Wonderful
Another EXCELLENT book by Ms. Alers. This books picks up with the next generation of the Cole men. I loved the interactions, the seductions betwen the characters. The mysterious death of Dana's father, the treatment of her mother left a void in her life. But Tyler came along and filled it with his love.
Wonderful book. This is worth reading!! If you can, get all of the legacy and hideaway series.

SIMPLY FABULOUS
I LOVED THIS BOOK.THE AUTHOR DID A WONDERFUL JOB WITH THE CHARACTERS.AS ALWAYS! MS.ALERS CONTINUES TO SHINE. I HAVE NEVER READ A BOOK OF HERS THAT WASN'T INTERESTING AND OR KEPT MY ATTENTION UNTIL THE VERY END. OTHER WRITERS CAN LEARN FROM HER.I HOPE THAT SHE CONTINUES TO WRITE ABOUT THE LEGACY. I HATE TO SEE IT GO.TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE UPSET THAT I DIDN'T GO INTO DETAIL. I AM TRULY SORRY!IF I START TALKING ABOUT THE CHARACTERS I WILL GIVE THE BOOK AWAY. I WILL SAY THIS SOME OF HER OLD BOOKS (NO COMPROMISE, JUST BEFOR DAWN, AND HER BOOKS WITHIN THE HIDEAWAY SERIES ARE BETTER. I JUST REALLY STARTED READING THESE TYPES OF BOOKS.) I WOULD START IN ORDER FOR A BETTER EFFECT! THANK YOU AND HAVE A NICE DAY.

Excellent
As always, great story, good to hear about the other family members. Again, another great book!

Leo's
I love the concepts of Leo's and wish it was real so I can visit, especially on Open Mike Night.

Second Chance by Rochelle Alers
***Cute story about a middle-aged couple finding love which makes it a unique, not enough chemistry though.

Eye of the Beholder by Donna Hill
****Great story about a religious young lady who goes from having a dull life to stepping up to the mic on Open Mike Night.

Main Agenda by Brenda Jackson
*****Excellent story. If the others seem to be dragging, skip to this story and then go back to them. Strong, intelligent woman determined to make her mark in the world without a man, how in the world does she deal with love, though? I brought this book because I was searching for more of Ms. Jackson's work. I recently read 'Delaney's Desert Sheikh' which is a Silhouette Desire Romance Book not even 200 pages. Excellent love story, this author knows how to write them.

Sweet Temptation by Francis Ray
****Great story. Make you want to go find you a ranger. Career oriented couple who definitely do not want a long distance relationship. Love has a way of changing the way you look at things.

Great authors-great anthology
"Second Chance" by Rochelle Alers. In Washington DC, fifty-three years old widow Leigh Walcott badly twists her ankle. She is rushed to the emergency room of a nearby hospital where she meets Dr. Scott Alexander. They are immediately attracted to one another, which is a surprise for Leigh who has not thought of a male in three decades since her husband died. Over a series of dinners at Leo's supper club they fall in love.

"Eye of the Beholder" by Donna Hill. Tara Mitchell takes her best friend English professor and gospel singer Jae Crawford to Leo's to celebrate the latter's birthday. Though feeling out of her element at the nightclub, Jae meets Clyde Burrell and soon love is on the menu.

"Main Agenda" by Brenda Jackson. Four years ago, Raven Anderson and Lincoln Corbain met and shared a romance on a Black College Weekend in Daytona. Lincoln wanted to continue their relationship, but never found Raven when he traveled to Tallahassee to see her. Now she has entered Leo's as he sits at the bar. Can the memory of that glorious weekend become more than just a personal history tidbit and turn into a lasting relationship?

"Sweet Temptation" by Francis Ray. Howard University teacher and Texas Ranger Chase Braxton and confectionery shop owner Julie Ann Ferrington go on a blind date to Leo's. The two immediately hit it off as sparks fly.

Fans of urban contemporary romance, especially African-American tales, will fully relish this anthology. Each story is well written and quite entertaining. The four lead couples are charming as they welcome the readers into their hearts.

Harriet Klausner

Shorts are becoming very popular for these 4 authors
I loved Rosies Curl n Weave & Dellas House of Style

In Welcome To Leo's the atmosphere is not a hair salon where love is sprung in each story. This time it all happens in this eloquent supper club owed by the Hardcastle men and a female cousin.

In the first story Rochelle Alers's Second Chance no matter what the age or circumstance you can always find love again, even after losing your husband and 6 month old child.

Donna Hill shows us in Eye of The Beholder that church going conservative dressers can also look good in a knee high a-line dress and find Mr. tall dark and handsome.

Main Agenda by Brenda Jackson spins a tale of 3 beautiful successful sisters obsessed with the words their mother left, they each almost lose out on true love until.....the baby of the bunch shows them you can have it all.

Francis Rays Sweet Temptation.

All in all this was a wonderful refreshing book as always when you get this dynamic 4 together.

Reckless for Love
Rina Matthews is a CPA with not only brains but beauty, she along with partner Jason Harper are trying to make their accounting firm a success. With Jason's charm and Rina's skill they seem to be on their way in their business as well as personal lives, since a trip to the altar for them seems inevitable. Enter handsome, charming, wellbred, well connected district attorney Cleveland Whitney whose political aspirations will probably make the mayors office his first stop on the political trail. Cleveland is capitvated and impressed with Rina's beauty and candor.

Rina has harbored unsettling emotions concerning her relationship with Jason, and the assignment in Savannah as the new accountant for Abigal Whitney seems the perfect time and place to evalute her feelings, at least that was the idea until Cleve. Rina could not dismiss her obvious attraction to the smoothly confident Cleve, neither could she overlook his blantant attaction for her. "What is a girl to do"?

This must be Rochelle's early work, the story though with great potential is not as developed as her Hideaway series or other works. I was surprised that Matthew Sterling's character was one of Cleve's friends, that would truly make and interesting connection if Rochelle choses to merge the families as her Hideaway saga continues. All in all any Alers romance story is definitely worth the read.

A Lasting Love!!
This book is the best! I love the way Rina and Cleveland finally get together. You have to get this book.

Cleveland Whitney!
Rina Matthews was an accountant. She was contracted by Abagail Whitney to go over her finances. She would have to stay at the promonient older woman's mansion. This is were she met the handsome Cleveland Whitney.

Rina was asked by Cleveland to handle his finances for his upcoming campaign. At first Rina was shocked, but agreed. Cleveland Whitney and Rina Matthews were meant to be together. I loved the way he treated her. He even told her that he wanted her and would wait until she saw the truth about her boyfriend/partner. Slowly, Rina started to fall in love with Cleveland and he with her. She would spend as much time as she could with him.

I have read this book 4 times. Each time I read this book it is just as enjoyable as the first. You know it has to be good, it was written by Rochelle Alers.

My Love's Keeper

Hooked my quickly.
Dr. Nicole Moore was a social worker at one of the local family centers. The moment her brother introduced her to Zachary Regan, Nikki knew he was dangerous to her heart and vowed to keep her distance. She would only allow herself to fall in love with a man who would feel the same for her as she did for him. Nothing less would suffice.

Zack was a famous architect. He was pulled to Nicole from the first. But he had been a widower for six years now and was still unable to tear down the walls he had built around his heart. He had lost his mother and his wife. He refused to open himself up to the risk of emotional pain again. (He also had his hands full with a teenage daughter, twin little boys, and a neurotic dog.) Yet Nicole was getting through all Zack's defenses.

**This story caught me quickly and was able to hold onto my attention the entire time. A love story that will make a reader's boring afternoon fly by! **

Wonderful ground breaking romance
It is easy to say with hindsight that Ms. Alers' talent was obvious for all to see, but at the time this novel was first written in the early 1990s, romance had not quite become the blockbuster genre it is today, and African-American romances were just starting to be explored.
Now, over a decade later, we can still see Ms. Alers going strong with a stellar career in the genre, and this book, finally back in print, is a delight from start to finish.
The couple are strong-minded, modern characters who have stood the test of time, and you will be kept on the edge of your seat to see if they can learn to compromise and allow themselves to fall in love despite the pain they have experienced in the past.
A real keeper, as the title says!

Wonderful
Nicole Moore is happy with her life as a career woman, loves her job as assistant director and program coordinator for an East Harlem family agency services, and wishes her family would stop pushing her to get married. She has a good friend who escorts her to various functions without wanting more. That is, until she meets her brother's good friend Zachary Regan who has his own successful architectual firm. She likes him very much, a handsome interesting man who is married--he wears a wedding ring--so she's comfortable in his presence. Until he informs her that he's a widower with three children to raise and he's never going to marry again, period. Okay, she doesn't want to get married either, so why not have a platonic friendship?
The reason is that there's a fierce sexual attraction between them, and Nicole doesn't play the bedroom hopping game. And since Nicole is his best friend's sister, Zachary can't very well do anything to ruin their friendship. Besides, he's an adult, he can control himself. Sure, he can; so can she. After a rocky start in which Nicole wants to teach Zachary a lesson, their time together becomes more and more important to each of them. She knows that she's falling in love with Zachary, and tries to break up with him, but he isn't having any of that. Nicole doesn't want her heart broken, and keeps trying to cool off their relationship, while Zachary can't keep his hands off her. She is beautiful, intelligent and what he desires most in a woman, dispite their differences in background. He was raised by his Aunt in Harlem, working hard to overcome prejudices and poverty, which Nicole was raised in an afluent family without having to struggle for success.
Nicole realizes that it's too late, she's already in love with him, and believes Zachary loves her as well. Now if she could only find out why he is so adamant about marrying again. And he wants desperately to overcome his phobia about marriage...
I thoroughly enjoyed this love story of full of sexual tension, likeable hero and heroine who struggle to overcome the problems keeping them apart. I recommend it..

A Younger Man
Ms Alers has done it again. This book hits home with a lot of older women/younger men readers and I am sure there are some who worry about situations such as this. It was good to read about an older woman and not some twenty something. Veronica and Kumi made a good couple though the cover did not fit the description of the characters in the book, maybe I am the only reader that tends to keep looking at the covers when the characters are described in the book. The love scenes were HOT. Still hope for us "older girls". Looking forward to Ms Alers next book.

Age ain't nothing but a number
Rochelle Alers first book with Desires was excellent. She introduces us to Veronica Johnson and Jerome 'Kumi' Walker. Veronica tries to fight the attraction she feels for Kumi because of their age difference, but Kumi is determine to break down a barrier that she has.

Ms Alers is always known for her HOTT, Passionate love scenes. And she does not disappoint us in "A Younger Man." For those who are looking for a quick excellent read, I recommend that you go to the nearest store and pick this up. Remember that Desires only keeps their books on the self for a short period so don't hesitate because you may miss out.

Great Book
This was a great novel. A quick read and very enjoyable.

RELAXING, ENTERTAINING, EASY TO READ...BUT PREDICTABLE.
First, I must admit... I'm not a true romance novel reader. However, after seeing Rosie's Weave and Curl on the BlackBoard Bestseller list for months, I decided to check out Rosie's Weave and Curl to see what I might be missing.

Rosie's Weave and Curl was a compilation of Four Short Stories/Novellas centered around Rosie's Beauty Salon. Short Stories addressed love issues for everyone...the over 50 crowd, young love, love between white collar & blue collar and love for a humble duckling type.

These Love Stories were very predictable, however, they allowed you to sample the works of four different romance authors and for one who's not a true romance reader, like me, none of the stories were so long that I lost interest.

Rosie's Curl and Weave didn't convert me to a romance novel reader, however, the stories were enjoyable, and a change of pace for a rainy day, the beach, or my urge to sample the romance novel arena. If you're not sure you like romance, but like love stories with happy endings, then stop by Rosie's Curl and Weave where you just might fall in love!

A good collection of stories
I really enjoyed the short story style in which the book was written. All the stories were good but I really enjoyed Just Like That by Donna Hill. It was a good quick read

Why isn't my beauty shop like this?
I found all 4 stories to be quite good and commend all the writers. This is a must read for Valentine's Day. I met Ms. Mason and Ms. Ray at the Romance Writers of America Convention in Chicago last summer and have an autographed copy of this book and others.

Why can't I meet Mr. Right while getting my butter whipped (ha-ha!)? I highly recommend this to your collection of AA written books. Good Work Ladies.

Watch for the next writers convention and attend, it's really worth it.
