BRINGS BACK MEMORIES!
I read this book as a child, and now am reading this book to my nieces and nephew. What a joy it is to read such good books to young children. This is a must for anyone with youngsters. Buy it! You will not regret it.

LOVE THIS BOOK!
I remember singing "There was an Old Lady..." all the time in preschool, so when I found out that there was a book of this song, I had to buy it for my baby daughter. Not only is the song fun to sing, but the book is fun to read as well with its vibrant colors and cartoony illustrations. This is an excellent sing along book!

Kids and Adults will love this!
This is a wonderfully fun book. My husband had some reservations about the content ('perhaps she'll die'), but my three year old daughter is not at all disturbed and loves the silliness of the story. Whenever its time for a story, she always requests "There was an old lady..."

The illustrations are colorful, expressive and silly. The cut out that grows to accomodate each creature the woman consumes and the clever commnents of the about to be eaten animals really add something special to this book. The repetition is also a wonderful way to help kids read along.

I remember this folk tale from when I was young. I often "sing" the book as we read. My daughter loves that. Buy this book - you won't be dissappointed. It sure to become a family favorite.

There was an old Lady who Swallowed a Fly
There was an old Lady who Swallowed a Fly by Simms Taback is an excellent book. It expands the imagination of children so they can enhance their learning skills. Given the ability to see directly into the old lady's stomach will attract their small little eyes. Vibrant colors stand out against the black back round to allow each and every swallowed animal to appear more important. Reading There was an old Lady who Swallowed a Fly would create a wonderful memory and a child who loves to read because of the rhyming and well-written vocabulary. Although children will love to read it, age six is a reasonable age for them to handle the book in their own tiny hands. However, there is no child too you to read and enjoy this book.

A good book for toddlers
My daughter has enjoyed this book since she was about a year old. We have two cats, but neither one of them wanted to have anything to do with my daughter, and she was very frustrated that she couldn't hold them. This book solved the problem. It's very large, and the pictures are very expressive of typical kitten behavior. My daughter expecially loved the page where the cat asks to be tickled -- it didn't take her long to figure out how to do that! Now that she's three, and old enough to be able to approach the cats right, she can hold them and pet them. But every so often she pulls this book off of the shelf and asks to read it. It's not the kind of book that's going to be beloved by children for generations, but it's worth having if you have a toddler who likes animals.

BIG, BIG, BIG...That's all I can say...
This book is BIG! Great for little ones that love big pictures. Easy to turn board pages and very easy to understand words for the little ones. My baby loves it and I do too! :) I highly recommend the Great Pals Puppy as well.

This is a great book!
This is a great book for young readers. It is very comical as the battle between good and evil rages on as the bad witch tries to trick people into doing bad things, and then the good witch tries to get kids to do good things. It is a good book if you are trying to teach moral values to your children. It also would be a very good book for teachers to use in the classroom.

Disappointing; nowhere near as good as its predecessors
I was very disappointed in this book. The recipes and crafts didn't seem nearly as well perfected as in the authors other books. For example, applesauce cinnamon ornaments did not include glue (which makes them much sturdier, smoother, less breakable, and resistant to bugs). Had the author done any checking whatsoever, she would have learned this -- but seemed more eager in rushing to press than in perfecting the recipes/projects. I was very disappointed.

Heartland
Marcia Adams Heartland is a beautfully done cookbook.Ihave all her books and watch her tv shows.Irecommend it to any one who is a fan or just likes to eat good food.I am waiting for any new ones to come out.

We bought the book over the phone, 4 weeks ago , haven't hea
Are we on a wait too? for how many Months???

Hmm, not so sure...!
This book deals with the complex issue of race, it starts off quite negatively pointing out the differences between people of different races using words such as 'mongoloid' and 'negroid'. The book however as it progress' does become more positive although this does not completely cancel out the negative aspects.Still quite a good book for educating younger children though.

Fun & simple
This book reminds me of my childhood. It is a fun-short-simple-colorful book. The pages have small cut-outs in the shape of ghosts that turn out to be real things like laundry, and kittens, and even smog from a factory. They are not ghost at all. Basic reading with bold and colorful graphics that will appeal to every child.

Slow start appearing negative but then changes to positive
This is a book appropriate for preschool age children. The start of the book starts out negative about how elderly people need help, need glasses and other devices. It depicts that elderly people our not able to function very well. Then the book takes a change and focuses on friendships. It finally gets across that it doesn't matter what age you are because if you are a friend that is all that matters. Overall and O.K. book but could use a little more positive view of the elderly.

A FISHY TALE
.

There is lots of strongly expressed "messages" in this story. Among them are .... ... Don't think you're too clever ..... Don't be too dissatisfied with your situation.

We are told the fishy facts of life. We are but one of millions and life is very hard and full of dangers.

Using your imagination and acting on you fantasies may take you to very frightening places.

When our little fishy friend takes the trip down the flooded river into the big lake he finds himself faced with "strange monsters of awesome size". He hadn't seen a fisherman's boat before. He becomes very scared and lonely "What use are brains and imagination if you don't have a friend?" His hides away in a tin can to shut out the big bad world.

His escape back to his little pond requires a one in a zillion chance rescue.

Most children and their parents would find the story line of "The Little Fish in a Big Pond" a bit heavy handed. The real saving grace of this book is the illustrations. They are bright, naturalistic and quite appealing.

Good Concept
When I first got this I thought the kids that I work with would love it, but they couldn't really get into it. It only engaged them for about 5 minutes and then they asked what the point was. Perhaps if it was used as part of a broader curriculum rather than in an individual tutoring session it might have been more affective.
