I like the time travel mechanics, but the world didnt hook me
This game has presented the best mechanics on time travel RPG's to date in my opinion. There is no comparison to any other game or system, period. If you want to play with time travel this is the game for you.

The world however that the game is set in was... a bit boring for me. I didn't like the political groups that the characters had to join, the history was unimpressive and seemed half baked, and I was left with the thought "ok, I can travel through time... now what?" I needed a little bit more to understand the motivations of these beings. More of an enemy to oppose.

Great for ideas, not for play...
This book has some great ideas to use in a time travel game. For example the idea of the "yet" - things that you learn you must do in the future to avoid paradox. However, if you use all the ideas the game becomes too complex and difficult to play.

An insightful view of timetravel
This is an excellent book, one of the best RPG's that I've ever seen. I picked this book up at GenCon 1999 and I can't wait to pick up Narscissit (a companion game book) this year. What makes this book so interesting is that it doesn't limit the players or the GM, if you've seen it it happened, if you don't remember the event, it is in your YET, (the required future) otherwise it happened. The book goes on the assumption that the universe just "is" there aren't any rules to control what spanners do, there are rules of conduct as in any society, but no "can'ts"

Madonna? Roseanne? Meryl?
Overall, this is a great book. Anyone with a daughter should certainly consider purchasing a copy. However, there is one caveat...remove the sections pertaining to tireless self promoters such as Madonna and Roseanne, and teach your children about the greatness and humanitarian efforts of women such as Mother Terease, Hillary Clinton and Sunsan B. Anthony; whom I think the author mistakingly left out. Had she included them I would have givin this book 5 stars.

Remarkable Women; Remarkable Book
I and the women of my Branch of the American Association of University Women found this book so impressive that we selected it to award a graduating senior girl from each of our six local high schools. The authors are clear that they have not selected THE most remarkable women of the 20th Century but rather those who represent a broad crossection of the women who shaped an incredible 100 years. The choices must have been agonizing considering all the achievements of women from 1900 through 1999!

Although I may not agree with the philosophy of all the women included (Margaret Thatcher for example), for good or not they made a difference, changed lives and influenced the world around them.

The authors have spanned socio-economic, ethnic, geographic and chronological distances giving a flavor of the whole 20th Century. The photographs are wonderful and unique. When is the last time you saw a truly elegant, young Eleanor Roosevelt?

From those who experienced the early years of the 20th Century to those who will always identify themselves as 21st Century women, this book offers a reason and the means to reflect upon the the 20th Century and many of the women who made it remarkable.

Great for the Firefighter/First Responder
This very information-filled book is jam packed with useful information that all firefighters/first responders will need. From Trauma, medical, Airway Management and Defibrillation to very basic Auto Extrication and Water Rescue this book is complete with all the medical knowledge that a firefighter will need.

We used this book in our first responder training. I found it very frustrating because the book didn't have to waste space for an "ambulance operations" chapter because firefighters don't need that training because we don't drive ambulances nor provide that type of patient care. There is a transition of care section which makes patient transfers easier. The last thing we need to know on the scene is the proper way to transfer care to more advanced care. The only thing this book really lacks is a firefighter's perspective. Certain operations will be done with a number of personnel, we carry at least 4 firefighters per apparatus. The defibrillation chapter makes use of fire service resources, but the others don't seem to. There should be an added chapter of taking care of common firefighter medical emergencies such as treatment for smoke inhalation and respirator hazards, hazardous materials exposure care, etc. It was good that there was an emergency rehab chapter, that is something that too few medical texts have.

There really isn't much difference between this book and the other EMT-B books on the market. There are a few extra chapters that are dedicated for firefighters. Much of the information in this book is almost word for word what is in other texts like "Emergency Care" and "Prehospital Emergency Care", it's probably that they are all made by Brady and that's why. IFSTA is a contributor so that gives this book a unique edge.

A Complete Look at a Very Important Topic
I was disappointed to learn that this manual was being replaced and combined with another book, "Fireground Support Operations". Ventilation is a very important topic that deserves its own book.

This book is a very thorough look at fire service ventilation. The fire behavior chapter provides the reader with the must know information about how fire behaves and reacts to certain circumstances. It expands on the basic information found in books like "Essentials". Horizontal, Vertical and Forced ventilation are all covered in depth. The only problems were that not enough ventilation techniques were taught in the book. There are many that tell what you are to do but leave out how to do it. Maybe that is why this book was combined with the forcible entry manual.

This book is a near-complete look at this topic and all firefighters should know this book's information. This topic is one that saves lives when done properly and costs lives when done improperly.
