INFINITE REVELATION
You cannot imagine how understanding the Hebrew has changed my life, and empowered me to know what, and how supreme Life is. Combined with the New Testament Word Study, this will enable you to see into the Spiritual domain, and enthrall endlessly at the genius and pre-meditation of YHVH's relished Infinite meaning(s) of His name(s), passions and intense paradigms; making His own self-Existent and Eternal Expression personal to you.

A Good Resource to Have
I own many of the author's resources and both word studies. This text really aids in the study of the Old Testament. This was the first word study book that I owned. This easy to use text helps the reader get into the Hebrew Scriptures of the Old Testament.

This text is along the same lines at the New Testament word study written by the same author. It is very usable for the novice readers who are learning about the Old Testament, Hebrew and Aramaic language. I found this to be a valuable resource when I was first learning to get into the scriptures of the Old Testament.

Any bible student, or anybody who wants to go deeper into Old Testament scripture could benefit from this word study text. It really makes learning about the scriptures easy. A more advanced student of the Old Testament may not get as much use from this as a beginner. This text gives the reader enough practical information without getting into the pointless information that is useless outside of a Doctoral thesis paper.

Depth
This book is a must for anyone, not just ministers, seeking to completely understand the scriptures and the original intent behind them. With the Hebrew text in the coloumns this is a perfect study guide. Also includes Strongs reference numbers, a lexial aide and definitions to some of the words. Perfect by itself, and enhanced that much more with a Strongs, as they are made to work hand in hand.

An enriching look at a living faith
Zodhiates will be blessed for telling us ordinary Christians what the Bible means in terms of the practical application of our faith. Once again, his treatment of the original Greek text, and the contextualisation thereof, has the same effect on the understanding of these texts that a restorer has on an old and damaged painting. It removes the old muck, the layers of misinterpretation and biased application and reveals an almost new work. Zodhiates is not a revolutionary in the contemporary sense of the word; he just sheds the brightest possible light on old material, thereby changing your perspective on and appreciation for the old truths. His understanding of the emotional life of a Christian, particularly about anger, reveals a depth of analysis I have not encountered before. And his treatment of the text with respect to that most difficult and controvertial of topics, predestination, was the freshest I have ever encountered. The entire book is worth reading just for these few lines: he seems to disagree with both Calvin and Geisler and opts for a totally new interpretation which begs prayerful pondering. It is part of the chapter "God's will for man". I wish Zodhiates would right an exegesis of Romans, too.

Book of James
An in-depth study of one of the most useful books of the Bible. A must have for anyone who wants to see the difference between the original Greek and English languages and how we lose the true meaning of the original texts

Understanding the immensity of Christ for first time
After a lifetime of worshipping Christ in faith, this book has opened an entirely new perspective on who Jesus really was. By offering a grammatical expose of the origitan Greek together with the implications of the meaning of the text, Zodhiates unravels what is normally a mystery accepted by faith into nourishment for the intellect. Does the Bible not say we should love Him with all our hearts, our souls and our MINDS? This book is a must for readers who are no longer satisfied with the lollypop exegeses and Gospel that are flooding the market, especially for those who want to know more but do not have the benefit of knowing the Biblical languages. For an amateur, this book reveals what the theologians take for granted but seldomly convey to ordinary people. It requires concentration and time, but it is worth every word's reading and contemplation. I have found this explanation of the text also extremely helpful in my discussions with Muslims about the deity of Christ. It is a must for missionaries who deal with Muslims who enter into debate with Christians from an intellectual angle.

Good Buy!!!
This is a good buy! Kind of a poor man's BAGD (Top of the line Greek Lexicon).

This book goes great with McReynold's Greek-English Word Study interlinear NT. A great combination because McReynold's interlinear has the Strong's # above each greek word in the interlinear, so you can use that number with this Dictionary to get a very throroughl Word Study. (McReynold's also has a Word Study which is much briefer, but in ways more useful and user frienly than this comprhensive Word Study.

All in all, this book and McReynold's make a great team when used together!!!

I would not recommend going with Zodh's other book (Zodh's NT)-- It has no greek interlinear and uses the KJV.

A Wonderful Resource
This New Testament dictionary is one of the most valuable resources that I have. This dictionary provides in depth meanings to Greek biblical words. It goes very well with a Strong's Concordance or with the word study produces by the same author.

The need for understanding Greek is really not understood by most people. When going through this book I really found out how much different the Greek language is from English. This resource is very easy to use, and really not over the heads of those who aren't fluent in Greek. I found this to be a very enlightening tool in growing in knowledge of the New Testament. This was one of the first tools I learned to use when being taught biblical interpretation and I've always found this dictionary to be solid.

I'm not an expert in the topic of New Testament Greek, but I do know that works and what is useful. This is a user friendly dictionary.

An incredible resource for in-depth bible study.
I cannot overstate my gratitude to the author for this immensely useful and insightful study aid. This book is the perfect companion to your Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, because its entries are directly keyed to the Strong's numbering system.

Zodhiates takes the Strong's Greek lexicon and amplifies it a hundredfold in terms of detail. An entry that might receive just a few lines of fine print in Strong's is instead expanded to whole columns or pages of discussion, with every conceivable nuance explored. Grammatical variations, derivations, synonyms and antonyms, and both lexical and scriptural cross-references are added to make this a truly invaluable study aid.

In a nutshell, if you are at all serious about bible study, or think you will be or want to be, this resource will be of great assistance in your efforts. Keep in mind that this is only the new testament lexicon. The author also has a separate word study dictionary for the old testament. If you find this helpful, also check out the author's interlinear new testament or Jay Green's interlineal bible.

An incredibly useful study tool!
I prefer the NASB translation due to the accuracy of its translation and was very pleased to find it available in this study Bible. The Greek & Hebrew Strong's numbers inserted in the text plus the complete Strong's Concise Dictionary and additional Greek and Hebrew helps are wonderful. The editor's notes at the bottom of some pages are also informative. I recommend this Bible to any serious student of the Bible who would like a decent measure of Greek and Hebrew help in a single portable Bible. To keep the Bible from getting overly large (it's quite a reasonable size now) it doesn't index as many words as I would have liked, but it is enough to be useful when I am away from home and my more extensive study tools. The one thing I would have definitely preferred (even at the cost of increased size) is larger type. It is set in a very crisp, 10 point (I would guess), serifed, typeface which is readable but still small for my over-40 eyes even with my reading glasses.

NASB Key Word Study Bible
Let me begin this review by stating that I'm reviewing the NASB version of this study bible. I have also used an older version of this bible in the KJV, but my comments will be directed to the NASB edition. I recently acquired one of these bibles and it has truly been useful to me in my studies. You must realize that although our translations are good (the NASB being an excellent example) they are only efforts at translation. THEY ARE NOT PERFECT! The only way to truly read the unflawed word of God is to read it in the original language. Unless you're a scholar this might be impossible. This bible makes that a reality! Did you know that there are four different greek words that are translated "love" in the New Testament? If you didn't know that you might apply the same meaning to "love" everywhere it occurs. This does not allow you to reach the truest meaning of some passages. This bible allows you to know what the original language said, so that you can compare alternate translations with what is actually written. It also gives insight to the different clauses used in greek and how they compare to english clauses. It has very extensive cross references and complete Hebrew and Greek dictionaries (both tied to Strong's numbering system) in the back. Additionally, it has a complete set of lexical aids tied to many of the Strong numbers, and the complete NASB concordance. In short, this is a study bible for the serious student who wishes to unlock the meaning of scriptures by way of the original language. If you're looking for more general study with application notes, then you would probably be happier with the NASB study bible (see my review) or a Life Application Bible. Supplementary, it doesn't include the 1995 update to the NASB text. I really enjoy mine, but I don't used it exclusively for my study.

Excellant Source for the serious Bible Student
Of all the Bibles I own, this is definately my favorite. It contains the entire Hebrew and Greek dictionaries with reference numbers embeded into the text for quick look up. In addition, there are complete sections of Lexical Aids to both the Old and New Testaments. There are scripture cross references and non-denominational commentaries throughout. When carrying this Bible you have a complete Bible Study and reference library at your fingertips.

Great for the Knowing Beginner
I spent two semesters in college going through this book in a Classroom setting and found this work entirely helpful for the understanding of New Testament Greek. The method by which Machen divided up his Chapters allows the student to begin understanding (and writing) Greek sentences after only a few lessons whereas some grammars will go over every single Noun Ending and Rule before moving on to the Verbs and it could be fifteen lessons before the Student is able to understand even a basic sentence.

There are a few problems with the text and those are mainly involving the way in which he describes some of the more difficult concepts. Without a knowledgeable person explaining Participles to the student, the novice would be hard-pressed to understand the complexity of the Participle in Greek and would flounder through Machen's descriptions of them. If the solitary student is trying to brush up on his Greek or has already learned one or more languages then he or she will have a much easier time grasping the more difficult concepts because they would be used to going through a grammar and learning ideas about a foreign language.

The Lexicon in the Back (with the principle parts) is also a very helpful tool for the beginning student so the student does not have to flip through every single lesson trying to find the definition of a word given previously while working on a later lesson.

Once the student has completely finished using Machen's book he or she will be able to, armed with only this grammar and a Lexicon, tackle a significant majority of the passages in the New Testament. While there are obviously some more difficult passages in the New Testament (Hebrews, etc) that will be a struggle for the beginning student this work will provide him or her with a very solid foundation to work from and will be an invaluable tool for the rest of the student's time spent in Greek.

An excellent, no-nonsense, no-frills introduction to NT Gree
Machen's book, though dated (c.1923) is still in use in leading theological seminaries and the text chosen by the Newark (NJ) School of Theology for its first and second year NT Greek courses. Machen is a no-nonsense, no frills, dead serious introductory text, but a student who has completed it will be able to read NT Greek. Each of the 33 lessons concludes with 20 Greek to English sentences and 16 English to Greek sentences to be translated. At the end of the first year of Machen, I discovered that Zodhiates (AMG Publishers, Chattanooga, TN) has published keys to these exercises, together with cassettes covering all 33 lessons, and a workbook with its own key booklet for each lesson. Gresham taught NT Greek at Princeton Theological Seminary in the early 20's and was a fundamentalist preacher there of considerable renown. I recommend Machen's text without reservation for serious students of NT Greek.

Machen is still the best for masterning NT Greek.
[Machen, not MacHen!] I have used this text for some 20 years to teach both college and seminary students NT Greek, and I still like it better than any other text that I have seen. I assign only the Greek to English sentences (that is plenty), and the students do well and we have a lot of fun at it! NT Greek is not an easy subject no matter what book you use; and I suppose that a determined disciplined student can hopefully master it using any book!

Get McReynolds
I have to agree with the other writer that you are better off with the McReynold's (ISBN 0842382909) Word Study New Testament. It uses a more correct Greek text with a translation (NRSV) that matches that text.

There's better in my book
If your a KING JAMES ONLY person, maybe this is your book...

If your a bigger fan of the UBS/NA based translations(NIV,NASB,NRSV,NAB,AMP + many others) I would STRONGLY recommend getting McReynold's Word Study Interlinear over this one.

McReynold's, like this this book, also has the Strong's # listed above every word, but in McReynold's you also have the running greek text as an interlinear. -- which I think would be very important for someone interested studying greek.....

Zodhiates other book "The Complete Word Study DICTIONARY to the NT" is not a bad asset to have on your shelf!

I would call his dictionary a poor man's BAGD (Bauer, Arndnt, Gingrich, Danker's -- top of the line Greek-English Lexicon).

If you can't afford BAGD (who can??), Zodhiates Dictionary would be a good substitute.....but I would get McReynold's interlinear/word study instead of this book.

I have both Zodhiates NT, and Zodhiates DICTIONARY and I use the Dictionary all the time (in conjunction w/McReynolds). -- I never use Zodh.'s NT. -- In fact, I should sell this thing, I need more room on my shelf!!!

Zodh's Dictionary, and McReynold's Word Study/interlinear pair up for a great combination. You can take the Strong's # from McReynold's and use Zodh's Dictionary for more detailed study than is found in the back of McReynold's book.

You will be much better off buying McReynold's interlinear/w.s. & spending your money on Zodh's DICTIONARY (not this book)

If you are a KJ ONLY person, we have to talk!!!

Very User Friendly and Easy to Use
This word study New Testament is a very valuable resource I have on my shelf. I use it on a regular basis and it takes so little time to find what I'm looking for. Within 5 minutes of opening the box that this came in, I was using it. I didn't have to spend forever familiarizing myself with the layout and getting lost in the details.

It doesn't get so scholarly that it is only relevant to the few who are on that level. Most Christians don't need anything more advanced than this, though the New testament Dictionary makes a nice addition. This is as in depth as most Christians require. You don't need to be fluent in Greek to be able to use this resource to its fullest.

There are great sections that make this resource a greta addition to your library; introductions to each book, exegetical notes, grammatical explanations, a concordance that works with Strong's numbers. The part that I find the most useful is that this book is very easy to use.

If you teach from the bible, this would make a great addition to your resource library. It doesn't get so detailed that it applies to a selected audience. This book contains what people will find relevant. Any more detailed than what's in this book and most people don't really care about it because it isn't relevant.

Useful for the layperson, but don't rely on it.
First, let us say what this is not. This is not a lexicon. It is a theological dictionary. Which means he's interpreting terms for you. Those interpretations can be good, they can be bad, they can be speculative. You get all of the above in this work.

Lexicons do this to some extent as well, but not as much as theological dictionaries do. This work can be useful if you're not experienced with the original languages. But if you want the best tools, learn the Greek alphabet and get yourself a lexicon. If you want something handy in one easy-to-use volume. This will work. But don't trust it exclusively, and don't neglect your own studies for his interpretations.

Excellent Resource !
This volume will truly enhance your time with God. This book will help you dig deeper to strengthen your relationship to Christ.

Excellent Overall -- Easy to Use
This Bible is VERY convenient and helpful when you want to find the Hebrew and Greek definition of certain words (the ones that the editor chooses to expound on). It is easy to use as well. Its only drawback is that many words are not defined and the editor's choice of words to define do not seem consistent (i.e., not always based on importance to the text).

As for the NASB version, it is the 1st edition of the NASB. i bought this Bible knowing that to be the case. NASB 1st edition isn't bad and in some cases (e.g., 1Cor. 1:18), it is closer to the original Greek than the NASB 2nd edition.

Lastly, the editor does have his opinions and views on certain verses and words but, seriously, find me a commentator or scholar who does not. Zodhiates does try to be objective and offers helpful insights on many words that you would otherwise have to go home to look up. For a quick, easy to use, etymology-focused study Bible, this version cannot be beat.

Almost great
This is very handy, especially if you want to look up a word in the middle of a Bible study or sermon -- if the word you want is indexed. Not all of the words are indexed, so I am often frustrated that the word I am interested in is not defined. I would also like bigger margins for my own notes. Still, it sure beats hauling your Vine's or Strong's everywhere.

THE BEST STUDY BIBLE
I have owned mine for almost 10 years and it has been the best Bible I have ever owned. With the dictionary and lexicons in the back, I am always prepared to look up words to find their meaning in the original text without carting a library! These are condensed, but offer the "key" words needed for understanding. Full versions of the OT and NT are available separately.
