This is a really great book to read. I injoyed this book very much. I'm a teen my self and this book showed me that no matter my problems I could always talk to my parents about it. If you are haven trouble talkin to your parents you should read this book.

Very good
This book was good. I think all teenagers should read this book, especially those who are into boyfriends, or want boyfriends, or guys to notice them.
This book really got me thinking when I read it, and it showed how she had to deal with the problem that she created- how it impacted on her life.
I realized just what a great difference one decision can make on the course of your life. It is realistic and very believable. Every teenage girl should read it.

A touching story.
This was (in my opinion) one of the best books in the SpringSong collection! 3 cheers for Betty Shaffer. the story was a bright realization that you should wait to have sex untill you marry someone! i will say that whoever likes an intresting story to keep you on the edge of your seat should READ THIS BOOK!!!!!

Sheila, Heathers ex-friend, snuggles up with Heather's long time crush, David while Heather schools Possum with her strange neighbor, Mr. Quinn. A thrilling and warming book about love and passion for a boy and a horse.:o)

"Can't Put It Down" type of book
This book is great for all ages. Even as an adult, I found it captivating. Ms Briggs writes with detail that shows she knows about horses and their connection to people. It's nice to see a book that is true to life, that all ages can enjoy.

well-chosen parenting advice from experts
Guiding Young Children's Behavior: Helpful Ideas for Parents and Teachers from 28 Early Childhood Experts edited by Betty Farber, M.Ed. Preschool Publications. 1999. 329 pp. $24.95.trade paper.

Farber's compilation of parenting advice and tips is a notable, comprehensive handbook for contemporary childrearing. The advice and tips blend the best of tradition and the contemporary. The material knowledgeably selected by Farber gives guidance for being actively and personally involved in the upbringing of children while not becoming overbearing. The numerous innovative, relevant, and practical tips from the experts give guidance for children on the tried-and-true principles of self-control and consideration for others without relying exclusively or excessively on strict, narrow discipline or parental dictates. This is the valuable, timely core of Farber1s book. The experts1 experienced, imaginative guidance is both challenging--occasionally seemingly fun--and instructive, implying that acceptable behavior need not be laborious or constricting.

Each of the chapters of Farber's book is a selection from the writings of one of the number of early childhood experts dealing with a major activity or concern of parenting. Editor Farber herself has much experience in the fields of teaching and parenting, including publishing Parent and Preschooler Newsletter and teaching and administration in early childhood programs. For many parents and teachers, her book can bring enlightened, productive solutions to seemingly insoluble problems and deadlocks of childrearing.

Editor/Publisher, The Small Press Book Review

a grandmas appreciation for this loving book.
As a grandmother, I was thrilled to read about practical and loving ways to set limits for my grandchildren. I especially recommend that you check out the chapters on Separation, Helping your child to eat well, and Sending positive messages. This book is my gift to all my friends with children or grandchildren.

Practical and easy to follow; makes mentoring task feasible.
Betty Farber's "Guiding Young Children's Behavior" has concrete suggestions and practical applications in simple, direct language. I'm mentoring a child and have no experience at all with children. Farber's book not only presents the ideas, it also gives you real language to use with children. Now I can say what I need to communicate in a friendly, non-threatening manner, yet with authority. It seems to be working. My chapter favorites: Teaching children responsibility; Problem solving approaches to discipline; Setting limits. Also sent copies to 2 cousins and they agree--the book is practical, informative, and filled with great strategies. They like it and I recommend it highly.

An excellent coming of age book for young women.
This has been a very special favorite book of mine for over 25 years. Betty Cavanna writes with wonderful caring and sensitivity of a young girl's struggles with the absence of her mother (died), her red hair and freckles, and a remote father at the critical time of turning 16. And then there is the collie - a runt turned unexpected champion through loving care! It's a book I have passed on to cousins and neices for years. I hope you will love it as much as I do.

A collie book for the Ages!
Anyone who loves collies NEEDS to read this book. IT IS THE BEST!

Of critical importance to parents, policy makerers, and edu
Hart and Risley have created an easy to read volume that speaks readily to parents, policy makers and educators. This book is a must for anyone who truly wants to understand the relationship between the way we interact with children and the evolution of their intellectual development. If you are interested in poverty prevention, early literacy intervention or the impact of family based literacy on childrens' academic success, you will be inspired by the work of Hart Risley.

Serious implications for early child intervention efforts
This book is one of the by-products of one of the most dedicated efforts to understand variances in the development of language. One of the reviewers of the book states that the work "...is a detective story of the most serious academic kind." Yet the book is written in a manner that would allow it to be required reading for "Parenting 102" if not "Parenting 101". The implications for parenting and public policy are profound

THIS BOOK IS GREAT
The Secret Window By Betty Ren Wright read by Heather Hansen It's a great book- I loved it. I read it 17 times and i'll read it again and again. It's a book about a girl (named Meg) who has a window in her dreams that tells her the future. when she has the dreams, she writes them in her book, wher she has hundreds of dreams kept in it. She has a friend named Gracie. Gracie has a friend named Linda who invites Gracie and Mag over for a party and a sleepover. At the party... Meg's mom and dad get in a fight, and Meg's dad leaves to find himself. Her grandma comes over and...I recommend thes book to a person at any age. When my mom read it she liked it. What I like about it was when she gets a new friend, and when her brother gets a scholorship. What I hate about it is at the party, cause the are smoking grass.

A book about dreams...and growing up
This book centers around the life of 12 year old Meg Korshak and her uncanny ability to have dreams that come true -- all while dealing with her father leaving to "find himself", her mother and brother's struggle to make ends meet, the tension of wanting to be part of the "in" crowd vs. just being yourself, and of course, the fact that having these dreams makes her "different". A hidden treasure -- if only it were still in print!

America's Most Influential First Ladies (Profiles)

A great book on first ladies!
this book was a great help to me while I was writing a report on influential first ladies. The author includes interesting facts and much more detail on the first lady's lives than the average book on first ladies. The book includes the first ladies personal insights and what they were interested in - politics, education, etc. It really shows how some first ladies played the presidential role more than the president of the time did. I recommend this book, especially if you are writing a report on a specific first lady included in the book, all the first ladies, and especically the influential first ladies.
