This inexpensive little book is excellent for any beginning rider, containing much information, nice illustrations. It is a little gem that any horse lovin' kid would like and would learn from.

I teach horseback riding year round and in summer camp. This little book is perfect for children. The drawings and explanations are accurate, clear, and easy to understand. While the book pictures children and ponies, adults who are just learning the basics of riding will find it informative and fun to read.

This book, written in England, provides an outstanding description of the development of children and teenagers with cerebral palsy. The authors described the emotional, neurological, social, and motor control issues in a very clear and succinct way. I found this book to be more helpful in explaning developmental issues than several American reference books which are much longer than this book. I especially liked the description of the importance of play for young children.

Also good was the clear recognition that society unfairly puts the burden on individuals with disabilities to adjust to non-disabled norms, rather than making the adjustments necessary to fully integrate disabled people. For example, how many times do restaurant and hotel owners complain that it is "too expensive" to make their buildings accessible?

Well worth the money.

A Child's Book of Values is an inspirational book. It helps to give a child a strong foundation of personal values based on God's teachings in the Bible. This book presents twelve core values and the ways they can be applied to everyday experiences. There are informal prayers, Bible verses and familiar stories. The illustrated definitions, key Bible verses and well-loved stories illustrate each value.

Love, Forgiveness, Kindness, Generosity, Patience, Gratefulness, Responsibility, Hard work, Honesty, Bravery, Faithfulness, Joyfulness all take center stage on beautifully illustrated pages.

I especially enjoyed reading the page on "Love." It reads:

Statements like: "Forgiveness has no limit," and "Some things take time and can't be rushed," truly make this a practical guide for children. These values will last a lifetime and will not only benefit your child; they will be a gift to everyone who knows them.

If you're an eleven-year-old, you're going to love this book. If you're a forty-year-old, you're going to love this book. That's because the storyline is fun to follow, the characters seem real and quite engaging, the bad people are sometimes hypnotic, the emotions are deeply felt and simply expressed, and the alligator is hungry but likeable. It's almost impossible not to think of other great classics ostensibly written for young people but in reality bearing a message for us old fuddy-duddies, too--Huckleberry Finn, Ol' Yeller, To Kill a Mockingbird, Dandelion Wine (if you loved these books, you'll be open to enjoying this one). Try this wonderful Southern tale, the latest from popular children's author Allen Johnson Jr.

This book, like Sophie's World by Jostein Gaarder, challenges the reader to think about their own morals and ethics and different philosophical ways of thinking. But it presents in a more humorous and readable way, one that will appeal to teens. This is a very powerful and interesting story about loss.

Song of Be is an extraordinary book. You have to read it over at least twice to fully understand it, but its worth it. It focuses on the life of a young African girl, a bushman, who moves to a farming plantation with her mother. She finds out to much about her past, and pays a harsh price for it. This book is a realistic fiction novel, as the bushman were really put through similar situations. I rate it five stars, and recommend for anyone to read it.

What a fun way to learn more about Ancient Egypt! This book is written as if you were living in Ancient times and planning a trip to Egypt during the reign of Ramesses II, around 1250 BC.It is written in the style of a travel guide, with information on practicalities, getting around, where to stay, food and drink, and what to do if you get sick.Like all good guidebooks, there is information on the best souvenirs to get(papyrus sandals, amulets, and scarabs)and where to find the best entertainment. And of course there is lots of information on the top sights: the Great Pyramids, the Step Pyramids, the sights of Memphis, the Valley of Kings and Tomb Art at Thebes, and the sights of Nubia.At the front is a fold-out map of the entire region so you won't get lost. "Tourists tips" are scattered throughout the book. A very entertaining way to learn history!
