Jennys mom's friend died and so Jenny and her mom inherit the lady's house and are going to move in unless they don't want to. Jenny meets the ghost witch and wants to stay in her apartment rather than move, but her mom wants to know why. At Jenny's school they are going to have a Halloween dance and afterward Mr. Barker is going to have a haunted house, so Jenny makes a deal with the ghost witch that she stay there and haunt there rather than stay at Jenny's house. They agree and Mr. Barker earns money from scaring so many people. THIS BOOK IS GREAT
The Secret Window By Betty Ren Wright read by Heather Hansen It's a great book- I loved it. I read it 17 times and i'll read it again and again. It's a book about a girl (named Meg) who has a window in her dreams that tells her the future. when she has the dreams, she writes them in her book, wher she has hundreds of dreams kept in it. She has a friend named Gracie. Gracie has a friend named Linda who invites Gracie and Mag over for a party and a sleepover. At the party... Meg's mom and dad get in a fight, and Meg's dad leaves to find himself. Her grandma comes over and...I recommend thes book to a person at any age. When my mom read it she liked it. What I like about it was when she gets a new friend, and when her brother gets a scholorship. What I hate about it is at the party, cause the are smoking grass.

A book about dreams...and growing up
This book centers around the life of 12 year old Meg Korshak and her uncanny ability to have dreams that come true -- all while dealing with her father leaving to "find himself", her mother and brother's struggle to make ends meet, the tension of wanting to be part of the "in" crowd vs. just being yourself, and of course, the fact that having these dreams makes her "different". A hidden treasure -- if only it were still in print!

A Pretty Good Ghost Mystery For Kids
While her parents are away in Alaska, 10-year-old Christina Cooper is sent to live with her unpleasant Uncle Ralph in his old lakeside house, a place that looks haunted to Christina. And she's right. During her first day there, she sees a little boy in a sailor suit standing on the pier--and then the next minute he disappears. This is just the first of many appearances the ghost makes, and it's up to Christina to find out why he's still hanging around the old house.

When I was younger, this was one of my favorite books, but after rereading it, I was a little disappointed. I had remembered "Christina's Ghost" being a scary ghost story, but it's more of a murder mystery than a horror story. In it, Christina must try to solve a 30-year-old double homicide over some stolen, valuable stamps so the young boy's soul can be put to rest. Not very exciting compared to an evil haunted house, but I don't think younger readers will really mind. Recommended for 9 to 12-year-olds.

Chills as you Read
This book is about a girl and her uncle that stay in this house for a while, but as they do they find two special guest there. I recommend this book to people who like scary and mysterious books. I like this book because I like to get chills every once in a while. I also like this book because I love mysterious books on Halloween and any other times and to read before bed.

AWESOME
I think this book is excellent! You feel as though you are right there in the story. I reccomend this to anyone who needs a book to read on a rainy day. I also reccomend Betty Ren Wright's other books too

The Dollhouse Murders
Wright, Betty Ren. (1983). The Dollhouse Murders. New York: Holiday House. I like this book because it is a simple mystery children ages 9-12 can read and enjoy. The book is a very interesting realistic fiction book. While visiting Aunt Clare in her Great grandparent's old house, Amy discovered a wonderful dollhouse in the attic. It is the replica of her Great Granparent's house. Everytime Amy visits the attic eerie things happen. Strange noises come from the dollhouse, lights are on in it and the dolls have been moved from where she had left them. Amy is very frightened, but she wonders if the dollhouse is trying to tell her something about the murders of her Great Grandparents 30 years ago. Amy wants to solve the mystery. On a stormy night Amy and her sister make one more visit to the attic. They watch as the Grandmother doll gives them a clue about the murders. They tell Aunt Clare what the doll revealed to them. Together they solved the murder mystery of that fateful night 30 years ago.

The Best Book that I Read
This is about a responsible girl named Amy who got tired of watching her sister Louann Treloar. In the beginning Amy runs away because she is losing friends because of Louann. When Amy finds out that she is going to stay for a few weeks at her aunt's house, she asked her how her grandparents died. Her Aunt didn't seem to happy about talking about her parents. But when Amy finds out about the dollhouse she lies so her aunt won't worry. I would recomend this book to others because, it's scary at some parts, but it is a wonderfull mystery book that is cool.

had to read it for school but still really liked it
In the beginning it takes place in a town called Claiborne. Later in the story the setting moves to the countryside near Claiborne where Amy's Aunt Clare lives in an old house. Amy, the main character, feels like her parents treat her unfairly, so she runs away to her Aunt Clare's house. At Aunt Clare's house Amy notices that dolls in a dollhouse move mysteriously all by themselves. The dollhouse is a miniature copy of her Aunt's house. But nobody believes Amy about the dolls, except her sister Luanne who also sees them move. It's like the dolls are trying to show the girls how their grandparents were killed a long time ago. What's not to like about the book! It kept me guessing right up to the end. I also liked that it was a mystery but was not full of violence and lots of people dying. It was also interesting to see how the characters change in the story. In the beginning of the book some people expect Amy just to play with her sister and other people understand that it's hard for her. Amy is frustrated. By the end of the book, Amy learns to appreciate her sister and her mom.
