Gossip and tall tales abound here
Fans of Hollywood gossip will find this an entertaining memoir which examines what part is played in the movies and television by production designers. The author has been a production designer for over thirty years: he's worked with many talents and his job is to make locations realistic - from the actors to the scenery. Gossip and tall tales abound here.

What! The book's over?
A hiliarious peek at what happens behind the scenes, this funny book tells the stories that don't even make it to the "Making Of..." books and movies. Peter Wooley talks about Blazing Saddles, The Day After, High Anxiety and more. This is the great stuff that goes on in the movie industry, not just behind the camera, but behind the behind the camera!

Best of all, it's the really funny stuff and the quick-witted one-liners and stories that make it a hilarious read.

Pretty good, even if I was forced to read it.
I was forced to read this book for a course in American Government and was not necessarily a happy camper. But I found the book contained readable bits of important people--philosophers to Presidents--and provided a number of competing views. In the end, I enjoyed wrapping my mind around a number of the complex dilemmas presented by various authors. Not a bad course book. But I should be on the beach and not writing this.

Get some perspective on American government
This is an excellent collection of essays from presidents to philosophers to political scientists. The essays are short with brief introductions. Good gift.

Concise! Informative! Readable!
I thought I was going to hate this course until I got hold of this wonderful anthology. Finally, a text that isn't a thinly veiled soap box for the authors' views. Finally, a book that neither talks down to the student nor buries him/her in esoterica. Finally, a reader that strikes the perfect balance between breadth and depth and points towards a clear path for further study. I have nothing but good things about this book and its obviously erudite authors.
