What a book!!!
An amazing book with great colorful pictures. It begins from how to prepare histologic sections to the description of the most important tissues, organs and systems of eight species (dog, cat, horse, cow, sheep, goat, pig, and chicken). Before the pictures, the book gives you a very useful and brief chapter introduction. It also has a detailed glossary containing nearly 750 words. A necesary book for a veterinary student. El mejor libro de histologia veterinaria que he visto!

an atlas with great pictures and concise text
This atlas provides wonderful full color pictures of cells and tissues from several animal groups. The pictures are logically grouped by tissue type with examples from different species being shown together. Many of the sections have brief, but useful introductions. All the pictures are well labeled and have a brief discription of important characteristics of the specific cells or tissue types presented.

It likely to be useful to individuals working in veterinary science, animal science or animal research.

Watershed Restoration: Principles and Practices
Surprisingly readable text with up to date information that has been field tested from the fish labs and field to citizen action strategies. This is a must read for groups hoping to integrate quality sciece with quality social process strategies for watershed work.

Handbook for a new era of conservation!
As America comes to realize that many conservation policies of the past have done more harm than good, this book is a trail guide to the right path to walk. It addresses not only the need to work with whole ecosystems and watersheds, but to also include the human inhabitants of the area and their social ecology into the process. It points out that every environmental conflict has arisen from situations where the balance was tipped too far towards the people or too far towards the environment and it provides essential concepts to try to regain the balance. It also provides many case studies of the restoration of watersheds, to act as models in our own endeavors. I highly reccomend this book- it expands your thinking and gives you hints and ideas for ways to successfully walk the fine line between ecology and sociology.

Battles Of The American Revolution
I don't profess to be an expert on the American Revolution, however; I do specifically know enough about the northern campaign to realize that the Battle of Hubbardton did not occur in the State of New York as the index indicates ( " Hubbardton, NY: battle at, 139-40" ). It is the only revolutionary war battle fought within the State of Vermont. To me, such an obvious mistake puts the rest of the book's accuracy in question. Based on that alone, I won't buy it.
P.S. In order to post this opinion, I had to rate this book. In all honesty, I would normally not have put a rating since I haven't read it. Sorry...

A technical view of the battles of the Revolutionary War
I've gone through quite a few histories of the revolution, but this book is different in that it is written purely from the military aspect. The author doesn't critique all the battles but makes a representative selection from each type of battle.

Each engagement is accompanied by detailed drawings showing the placement of troops, cavalry, and cannon. He discusses the use of terrain for each battle. In the case of the "Battle Of The Cowpens" he reflects on the purpose of the American commander in putting a river at his back was to prevent his soldiers from having an easy means of running away from the battle.

All in all, a good informative read.

Good Book on battles and campaigns
If you are in the market for a good book on the major battles and campaigns of the Revolutionary Army then this is the book for you. The author does an excellent job in describing each event without going to exacting detail and boring the reader. If you do not get pulled into the war after reading this book then you need to reread it slowly to better absorb the knowledge within its pages.

I agree with another reviewer: "This excellent piece of scholarship and tale of high deeds belongs on every enthusiasts bookshelf...."

Errata: A Book of Historical Errors
Published in Hardcover by DIANE Publishing Company (1999)
Authors: A. J. Wood, William Crouch, and Hamesh Alles
Amazon base price: $17.00
Average review score:

Can you stop the 10 anacrhonisms in these 12 pictures?
"Errata: A Book of Historical Errors" presents twelve scenes from history, each of which has ten things wrong students are asked to pick out. However, this is actually more involved than simply looking for birds flying upside down, because the errata here are more appropriately terms anachronisms. Furthermore, for each errata, there is the historically correct counterpart. So if you look over a scene of faming on the banks fo the Nile in ancient Egypt and see some guy watering crop with a hose, you will also see the sahduf used to raise the waters of the Nile from one level to another through a system of canals. Other scenes represent an Aboriginal kangaroo hunt, Zulu wedding, Sioux Indian powwow, Norman feast, Inuit seal hunt, Aztec festival, Viking funeral, Mogul court celebration, Minoan port, Great Wall of China, and the return of the Inca army to the valley of Cuzco. If students, or teacher, become too frustrated, there is a key in the back of the book. Each illustration by Hemesh Alles has a couple of brief paragraphs of text by A. J. Wood describing the people and place at that time. It is too bad that these pictures are not available as a series of posters, because I doubt any school is going to have a classroom set of this book, and having an entire class of young students go over these pictures to find what is wrong and try to figure out what would be the correct counterpart, would be a fun learning activity. Since kids have done this kid of picture puzzle before, they will have no problem playing along and then discovering they are actually learning something by doing this.

Want a quick run-through of ED facts?
This book may not be as unique as others in the "Recall" series but is still worth getting. If you have Surgical or Medicine Recall", many facts in this book are repetitions. But there is no point buying a huge comprehensive text if you're not going to read it. With this concise book that highlights what is most important, I have learnt more than many of my larger texts. It is very enjoyable to read and there is no need to scribble your own summaries.

This book sure is, uh... a book.
If you are a beginner wanting to learn how to design Web pages, be wary. About half the pages have at least one typo in them. Seriously though, use caution when attempting to read this book, it may cause major confusion or other unwanted side effects. I'd recommend coupling it with HTML 4 by Elizabeth Castro.

This is lemon but with some work it could taste like caviar.
This book has many links to some very good html sites. It also has six interresting programs, but they all have so many mistakes, some tags don't work on any of the major browsers, that you wonder if you should really trust this book, well I did not trust it, after a while I bought a book by Elizabeth Castro, HTML four(4) for the world wide web, it's a diammond in the rough, this is the one and only book on html that a student should buy. I am a student at Orange Coast College, California. Attn: Teachers and students do not buy this book until it has been totally revised.

HTML BOOK AND MANY MISTAKES - SHELLY CASHAN SERIES
This book is easy to read but unbelieveble it has many mistakes that confuse students and some of the examples are not clear to understand. I'm a student at Orange Coast College which is one of the best college in Orange County and I wonder how this book was chosen for this level. I don't recommend any body to buy or read this book to learn HTML because I'm a foreign student and even I could find the errores in this book.
