A book you won't be able to put down.
Very rarely does a book come along that you cannot put down. From the time I started reading A Place to Call Home, I couldn't put it down. It is a wonderful description of the lives of two very special people following the Lord's direction in their lives. It describes the road this couple took in reaching His goal and their goal - Wears Valley Ranch. It tells the story of miracles encountered along the way in their lives and in the lives of the people they've touched. A must read! A very special book!

Good, easy read that could change your life
This book is written in a very easy to read format, yet it offers tremendous insight into how God's plan works. This book tells the journey of Jim and Susan Wood and the many miracles which they have encountered as they followed God's will. This book offers encouragement and will definitely help to strengthen your faith.

A place to call HOME
Would you like to see God at work? Four years ago I asked God to show me how he works in the lives of real people with real problems. He led me to the Wears Valley Ranch in Tennessee. There I met Jim and Susan Wood and an amazing, loving staff of people dedicated to serving God by committing their lives to children who come from difficult circumstances. As a result of my prayer, my family has seen the Sermon on the Mount take on human flesh in the form of God's servants at the Wears Valley Ranch. Susan Wood's A place to call HOME comes from a heart totally committed to serving God by serving His children. This book is a must read for all people who long to better understand how God works in the lives of his people and how he actually conforms us into his likeness.

Every Child Deserves Straight A's (Up close and personal)
I am a Jewish believer in Messiah from Long Island NY. I have been priviledged to witness the tremendous success that comes from the faithful following of the principles of Jim and Susan Wood's book. I have seen this, up to now, unbelivable success at the ranch in Tennessee as well as with my own children ages twenty-one and six at home in New York. Every Child Deserves Straight A's deserves an A plus itself for sharing with it's readers the basic keys to a child's education in easy to understand, clear and loving language (and please note that according to the Wood's, education takes place all day and every day). This book brings to life the all important point that in order to be good parents and role models to our children, we as parents must first submit our will to God and follow biblical principles ourselves. It is the total dedication by Jim and Susan Wood to these biblical principles and to serving God by investing their lives in the lives of children, that I am privileged to witness through their writing and when visiting Wears Valley Ranch in Tennessee.

Moving stories of hurting children
I know Jim and Susan Wood personally and have seen the effects of the principles described in this book on the lives of the children they work with. The stories are true and it has affected my life profoundly to see how God's love can change a person's life so dramatically. This book can change the lives of the children in your life too.

An outstanding introduction to the history of art in general
The Art Institute of Chicago houses a world-renown collection of artwork that spans the complete and diverse spectrum of six centuries of painting. Now in a revised and expanded second edition, Master Paintings In The Art Institute Of Chicago organizes and showcases 149 major paintings (like the Insitute itself) into European, American, and Twentieth-Century categories. This outstanding introduction to the history of art in general, and the Art Insitute of Chicago's impressive collection in particular, would grace any personal, academic, or community library artbook collection.

Take the collection to your home
This is a great coffee table book that includes many important paintings of Art Institute of Chicago. All the images are in color, and the story of each painting and the artist is given. Each painting is described on a single page, and therefore the pictures are sufficiently large and detailed. The book starts with 15th century religious paintings, and progresses to include well known impressionist paintings such as Seurat's Sunday on La Grande Jatte and Renoir's Two sisters. It also has a section on 20th century paintings. Not a substitute to seeing the actual works, but it is close...

Rescued!
I am a recently divorced father and pay child support for 2 children. I just read your second book, MOMS SAVING MONEY....my ex-wife has all of your books and I ended up with one of them when I moved out of the family home..... I found a simple but life- changing idea in your book that has literally rescued my sanity. Since I do support my family monetarily, there is little left over for me so I have had to rent a bedroom with a bath in the home of a very nice family. However, going into their private kitchen I felt awkward as well as coming into the front or back door, etc. . Then I read about the twins' father's idea of how to make any bedroom and a bath into a little efficiency apartment. I think this tip was to help make added income but it saved my life. I used the "boards and blocks" tips and created a little kitchenette in my bathroom (to be near running water )by buying a small microwave and a small ref........I painted the concrete blocks black and bought the white laminte boards at my local lumber store which were very inexpensive, stacked them into the configuaration I wanted ( not even using mortar since it is small) and now I have my own little bachelor pad! I even asked the owners if I could put the window in my bedroom on hinges as long as the look of the window didn't change....I used a piano hinge....the window is low to the floor and now I have a seperate little entrance and can come and go as I please!.....thanks, twins.....you write tips that only people on a severe budget would understand! I love you guys! Happy Tim

Huge money savers this time!
I loved your first book, twins, and I love the second one! Not only have you included the everyday tips but the really big money saving tips that can literally change my life if I put them to use. I want to quit work and can now see some hope! Thanks, twins, for sharing your secrets!

A heartwarming book
This book was an emotionally satisfying book to read. I finished it in one day; I just couldn't put it down. It shows that we shouldn't judge a person by how they look. You always have to look deeper to find the person inside.

The Doctor, the Nurse...and the Egg!
Loved this book. She's sworn off doctors and one doctor, especially: the hero. But then they get stuck together at a sensitivity seminar where they each have to carry an egg around and treat it like their newborn baby for the whole weekend. Turns out, he's more sensitive than she thought -- and every bit as sexy as she remembered. This book was warm and funny; another winner from Ms. Mallery. I love this Prescription: Marriage series. Can't wait for the next one.

For anyone who has ever wanted to feel truly good about life
"Sparkle" is it. Not only do you fall in love with the characters and the enchanting lives (past and present!) they lead, but you also come to love yourself more than you ever have before. This book will undoubtedly openthe eyes of the reader to themselves and to the Universe we live in.

A treasure, magically captivating and healing.
I've read A Sparkle on the Water three times because it's very rich and there is more to glean with each reading, more that I'm ready to "hear." It's easy to fall in love with the characters of this book, and never want to leave them. In the course of reading the book, you will realize that it will end and that thought will bring sadness. Once you start Sparkle, you're in a different world which is magical and soothing. The stories inform us about the multitude of lessons and gifts we have in our life--we can learn from these lives which come alive so vividly, from the review of the lives in the between, and from the message of love and hope which is the spirit of Sparkle. You get the big picture in a delightful way, through stories rather than intellectual exposition. Sparkle combines romance, metaphysics, healing, ets, the Universe's eternal messages, and speaks to anyone who has spiritual yearnings.

A Keeper for Kids and Adults
This is the only book in the 'Amos' series I didn't previously own. After finding it in zShops, I snatched it up immediately. What a find! If you like the 3 other 'Amos' books, you have to have this one, too. It's one of the best. Amos goes camping in the woods with his family (of course they strap his couch to the top of the car) and has quite an adventure. I am a real dog lover, and enjoy ALL the 'Amos' stories. I wish Susan would write another! She writes with the ability to appeal to children - while amusing us adults.

Campo Santo: Poems

Unbelieveably poignant.
The epigraph of this book is from Faulkner's The Wild Palms: "Between grief and nothing, I'll take grief." This pretty much sums up Wood's sensibility throughout these poems. This book, quite frankly, is one of the most beautiful books I own. Maudlin, but not overly so, this book's poems deal with grief and loss and longing. Particularly moving is the title poem, which deals with the death of the son of a friend. In the poem, Wood wonders, "Which is the greater sorrow / to feel you cannot live without him / or to find, after all, that you can?"

This is a devastating book.

A LITTLE CHILD DID LEAD -- HE WAS THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
This heartwarming story of how a bitter woodcarver let a widow and her 7-year-old son into his life should be a holiday tradition for all. The boy is lovable and encouraging and he nurtures a spark of Christmas/holiday spirit in the woodcarver. This book is guaranteed to leave many eyes misty. It is truly a work of art and a gift for the heart. I love it.

One of the best picture books ever produced.
The writing of this moving story shows true artistic mastery. Even with a few rhythmic, well-chosen phrases which echo in the reader's heart, the author helps us really KNOW her memorable characters. This is a beautiful, beautiful book, worthy of the season which inspired it, and of the audience of children and adults which will surely be deeply affected by it. A life-altering experience, because it makes its mark on one's soul. Susan Wojciechowski and P.J. Lynch deserve the highest honors for this exquisite work.

A Deeply Moving Christmas Tale
While reading this book to my 5 year old daughter, she asked me near the end, "Daddy, why are there drops of water coming from your eyes?" The beautiful and touching message of love and healing in this story is one even more appreciated by parents than the young audience for whom the book is designed. This is a Christmas treasure that I look forward to sharing with my children over and over again as they grow. Highly recommended.

Great History Book
Love the pictures and the write-ups. Much prefer this to Usborne's World History which has more nudity than I can allow my children.

Usborne Book of the Ancient World:Combined Volume
Awesome book for all ages, the pictures are great. There is so much information, yet it is easy to follow and understand. It is well worth the money, and much more interesting than the history books in schools. This is a book you wished you could have had to learn with when you were in school.

Beautiful!
This book is one of the best around for teaching ancient history to all ages! The colorful pictures, and detailed, yet short explanations hold a child's interest. There is enough information for an older child to learn and retain his new knowledge. The pictures are wonderful, which further the beauty of this book!
