A Review by Hana Ma, Class 5-506
Over the summer, I read a book called Sideway Stories from Wayside School by Louis Sachar. This book talks about very silly characters. There was one story that I liked the most, which I will tell you about first. (By the way, the yard teacher was the one who wrote the book.) Okay! back to the story. Jason was in class listening when he heard a bubble pop. He spun around and there was his enemy, Joy, chewing bubble gum. He told his teacher Mrs. Jewls. Mrs. Jewls was disappointed at Joy, so she was going to write her name under the word DISCIPLINE!! Jason stopped her and asked if he could write it on the board. So when Jason got out of his seat, Joy stuck the bubble gum on his chair. Jason sat back down, but when it was recess time, he tried to get up. But he couldn't! He was stuck! Mrs. Jewls tried everything she could to get him off, but nothing worked. Do you know how he came off? Finally, Joy had to kiss him on the nose. Jason fell and bumped his head.

This story reminded me of a time when my leg was stuck on the monkey bars. I was hanging upside down. Then I saw my friend. When I tried to get down, I found that my leg was stuck. I stayed there for a while, but then I got a idea. I calmly twisted my leg to one side and it was loose. I was free again!!

I would recommend this book to whoever likes to read about different characters or likes entertaining stories and enjoys laughing. This book is also recommended to third graders and up! So this is my review about the book Sideway Stories from Wayside School.

The Best Book Ever
Nancy is my favorite character in the book Sideway Stories from Wayside School. I like it because... the chapter is very funny because if you think nancy is a girl you are totally wrong! It's a boy! He has big handsand feet and he thinks Nancy is a girls name. His class, Mrs. Jewls's class, thought his name was odd too. There are 23 people in his Class (not counting him). Before they had Mrs.Jewls they had Mrs. Gorf. I'm going to tell you about the whole story. So read it if you like weird books you will love this book !

Creepy-funny
Um, I liked SSFWS, all right, but I found the book to be very odd. Not purple-people-eater odd, but a-little-too-true odd. The book isn't just random silliness (although it does seem like it at times), but also very carefully disguised social commentary. I would liken it to Shel Silverstein or Dr. Seuss, in that, what at first seems like kooky insanity begins to morph into something much more, not sinister, but just a little too close to home. What really struck me about this book was that, despite the strangeness of his tales, Sancar obviously has an insiders eye when it comes to children, or a really good memory. The tales of the school tells about not only the students, but the teachers as well, with remarkable insight into the bizarre, rarely accurately observed world of elementary school in American suburbia. Oh sure, there are millions of stories about it, but few dare tread where this author goes with his story, and the results are, well, creepy-funny in a good way. It's like the anti-children's book, unrepentantly ammoral and without a tidy "happy ending" for each story. Oh yes, and, by the way, there's a story of the book for each story of the school. Few seem to notice that. The strangest thing about the book is not how the school is built, but how close the author consistantly gets to the things that make grade-schoolers tick. Few adults could understand how important it is for kids to get outside to recess fast enough to get the "good playgroud balls", or remember the strange kind of guilt that comes from stealing another kid's lunch. If you haven't read it, I would reccommend trying it at least once, if only to see how much you find yourself vividly remembering random episodes of your childhood in frightening detail.

This book is really funny.
I like Wayside School is Falling Down by Louis Sachar. It was so funny. My favorite part was when Ron ate the mushroom surprise. When Ron ate this for lunch, his face turned green and he kissed Mrs. Jewls. That was so funny. The Wayside School is 30 stories high and they have to go up to Mrs. Jewls' room on the top floor. I think you will enjoy reading this book because I read it and I thought it was really funny.

Funny
"Wayside School is Falling Down" is the funniest book I have ever read, with 30 stories jam-packed with more humor than Dr. Suess and Mr. Socko combined. Some stories are as long as three chapters and some are just one. The book features Todd, Paul, Rondi, Allison, and others. The funniest story is about the kids learning to dance. They get cut up, scratched, bruised, and bloody, but finally they dance the tango. Nobody gets hurt seriously. As a matter of fact, they liked it! Kathy is a character I didn't care for. She hates everyone and is mean, making fun of the other kids. She is spoiled. Her parents are rich and buy her whatever she wants. She needs to go to a school counselor! All in all, "Wayside School is Falling Down" is a good book.

Q's Views
Wayside school is Falling Down is a hilarious book. The book is about a classroom on the 30th story. There are 29 kids and 1 teacher, Mrs. Jewls. They have many adventures together that they think are every day adventures. The book is very different from others because Louis Sachar, the author, really used her imagination. A lot of people really like that. Other books are true, but nothing in this book is true. Like cows living in your school.
The author, Louis Sachar, has written a lot of books. Like Holes, Sideways Stories from Watside School, Wayside School gets a little Stranger, Sideways Arithmitic from Wayside school, Dogs don't tell Jokes, Boy who Lost his Face, 6th Grade Secrets, Marvin Redpost: Alone in his teacher's House, and Kidnapped at Birth? and many others.
Most people would find this very amusing. This book is so funny. Like when Mrs. Jewls pushes a computer that Louis, the yard teacher, had worked hard at getting up there, out the window. That was really funny and you can find more stuff like that by checking out more books by Louis Sachar. I think that everyone will really like this book.
I would think that people at the age of 8-11 year olds would like this book.

A fun book for kids!
Henry Green eats nothing but chocolate, and this delightful story follows Henry on a wonderful adventure as he breaks out in a "chocolate fever"!

When spots start popping out all over his arms during class, his teacher whisks him off for a visit with the crazy Dr. Fargo. When Henry loses confidence in the wacky doc, he takes off and is chased through the streets by half the hospital staff! What happens next will surprise you.

My first-grader (who is in his school's Gifted and Talented program) got somewhat bogged down in this, his first "chapter book" so I think the rating of ages 4-8 is a bit off. The school librarian rates it at a third through fifth grade level and I'm inclined to agree. We read it as a family and my fifth grader LOVED it!

You'll really have a sweet tooth after this!!!!!
Chocolate Fever by Robert Kimmel Smith is a fantastic book to read. Can you believe Henry Green eats chocolate every day, morning , noon , and night , and eats chocolate on everything. Henry gets brown bumps all over his body, and hurries to the nurse. Henry helps foil the hijackers plan. The authors message is about self-indulgence. This was a fantastic book, I couldn't put it down. It has so many details that it was hard to stop reading. This book teaches Henry a valuable lesson about self-indulgence. Cheek out this book to find out what happened in the end, and have a fun time reading it!

Chocolate Fever
This book is one of the best I've read because I love chocolate just like Henrry, the main character in the book. My favorite part was when Henrry ran out of the hospital and lots of people were chasing him. I also liked the book because it's funny. I would give the book 5 stars.

This book was very good
It's about a boy that bets other boys to eat fifteen worms for fifteen days. If he wins he gets fifty dollars. The characters are Billy,Alan, Joe and Tom. Billt really wants to win to buy a minibike. When Billy was ready, they fried the worm and put ketchup, mustard and horseradish. He ate all of the worm. After, he started acting sick. Tom and Joe were Billy's friends. The worm didn't taste bad. Billy coudn't think of the word "worm". So, Tom changed his mindand made him think of "fish", and Billy ate the worm. This went on until the eighth worm. The ninth was two feet long. Billy knew something was wrong. The worm was plain when he took 2 bites, and he knew that two night-crawlers were glued and that he was cheated. They were arguing. The next day, Joe and Alan droppedby Billy's house and gave him two worms wrapped. Billy ate and finished 11 worms. Alan didn't want to tell his father that he lost 50$. Alan played a trick on him.He took Billy to the Shea Stadium, and stuffed him with junk food. They took him to the car so that he will fall asleep. If he slept through the night Billy will lose the bet. Instead he woke up, blasted a siren to wake everyone up. He then ate the last worm. He won the bet by eating fifteen worms in fifteen days. It was a good book but somewhat silly.

My whole class liked the book but none of us wanted to make a similar bet.

HOW TO EAT FRIED WORMS
I think this book is good it is about a boy named Billy who makes a bet with a boy named Alan. Alan bets Billy to eat 15 worms in 15 days if he wins he gets 50 dollars and with the 50 dollars that Billy mite win he will get a mini bike.I enjoyed this book and I hope you get a chance to read it.

Luke's 'How to eat Fried Worms' book review
It was thrilling, gross, exciting, funny, cool! and I liked it. It's about a boy called Billy and he makes a bet that he can eat 15 fried worms over 15 days to win fifty dollars, so he can buy a stylish new minibike.
