I found the key to acceptance and security in God's love!!!
Never, never have I read any book that so perfectly diagnosed my condition. What a loving God we have - and how very much He longs to tell us. But the masks we wear to prevent that relationship is tragic. Sandy Wilson pictures it all so well - and in a gentle and loving way. She gives great encouragement that an intimate God is just a breath away - if we seek. Thank you dear Sandy, for your ministry.

A must for anyone who desires a full relationship with God.
It is not often that I call a book must reading, but this one certainly is. Sandra Wilson has written in such a way as to draw any reader closer to God. It is especially good for anyone with any kind of sense of having been left alone and lonely. But is is also a must for those who believe that they are closer to God than ever. I have reccomended it to many of my counseling clients and have bought and given copies to all of my children, my husband and my parents. If you don't read anything else this year, read this.

A MUST for anyone who wants to draw closer to God
This is the best book I have ever read on seeking a personal relationship with God. I have read it for myself, given one to every member of my family and several friends and am recommending it almost daily to people I see in my Christian counseling practice. A book for anyone who has ever wondered where God is and haven't we all?

Excellent Book
This book provides an insightful, balanced perspective on an important area of human health and well being: circadian rhythms. If these rhythms are disrupted by certain aspects of modern life, ill-health may result. In particular, such disruption may be a contributing factor in the rise risk of breast cancer in modern societies. The editors of htis book are obviously intelligent, good-looking, and above average in character.

The Day of the Rose

The Day Of The Rose
.... was an excellent start to the professional writing careers of Larry Hobson/Anita Wilson Shaw in the field of adventure/mystery novels. It had all the intrigue, adventure and romance a reader could want. The end was a real kick in the heartstrings! Almost too .... Oooops! Can't give away the ending, now can I? Am awaiting #2!!

An Intriguing Story
The Day of the Rose is an intriguing book, but what else could it be? When you have sabotage on offshore drilling rigs and bacterial warfare, that's an explosive mixture.

Add to the intrigue not one, but two delightful romances, and you have a book that's difficult to put down. From the first chapter that includes a mysterious first encounter, to the last chapter - an excellent wind up of the story, the book carries the reader from adventure to adventure, from kiss to kiss, and certainly from page to page.

I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure, romance and a story that will make them laugh and cry.

The Day of the Rose
I just fell in love with the two new author's page turning mystery! I couldn't stop once started.

I can't help but wonder what Hollywood producer also sees this book as a fabulous potential for a screenplay and who will write it?

I look forword to finding the next of Larry Hobson and Anita Wilson's works.

A guide to life as an adventure!
Reading 'Play to Win: Choosing Growth over Fear in Work and Life' was, like its authors profess life to the fullest should be -- an adventure! Instead of focusing on success, it focused on fulfillment (of which success is a byproduct). 'Play to Win' acknowledged and identifed elements that keep one from a fulfilled life. It educated and provided processes, complete with catch phrases, to achieve an adventuresome life. The only reason it took me two nights to read was that I was stopped in my tracks when I came to, what was for me, a powerful quotation at the beginning of Part V, " One has to abandon altogether the search for security and reach out to the risk of living with both arms."--Morris L. West. How on earth would I begin to abandon my need for security? I was afraid to read on because 'Play To Win' might tell me how and then, my life would be . . . different. Could I choose Growth Over Fear?(the subtitle). The book presents many familiar methods, and for me, new defintions and processes to live a more fulfilled, balanced life. I use the "Stop Challenge Choose" mantra daily in trying to overcome my usual reactionary attitude. I had always thought of my life as a journey, but I want the adventure set forth by the Wilsons! By completing the simple written exercise using easy-to-understand definitions, 'Play To Win' helped me re-affirm my life purpose and establish a new vision (what do I want) for a balanced, fulfilled life and a flexible plan of -- what can I give up to get what I want?/What do I need to DO to get what I want? I recommend this book for anyone seeking self-understanding or anyone who may feel discontent with their life but do not know why or what is missing. It really helped me sort things out and gave me a vision for today of where I want to be and tools to get me there. I shared my copy with a friend, who immediately wanted her own copy to pass along to others as well.

Larry Wilson does it again!
Play to Win is the finest, most on-target business book I have ever read.Since he founded Wilson learning corporation in 1965, Larry Wilson has been teaching the worlds largest organizations how to lead people to the promise land of success. Of all the Larry Wilson books, Play to Win is my favorite. It cuts to the chase, speaks in easy to understand language, and drives home the point that we all have the choice to choose growth over fear. Only Larry and Hersch Wilson could have written this book. I've recommended it to clients all over the world. Its pure genius written in terms the rest of us can understand and implement.

This book can change your life -- if you choose to let it
The insights shared in "Play To Win!" have had deep and profound impact on me, both personally and professionally. In business, I have new tools to greatly improve my results -- and enjoy my work in the process. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to leaders and shop floor employees alike. The learnings are too important to "discriminate" based on corporate caste systems. Personally, what I've learned from "Play To Win!" has helped me survive the stress and devastation of watching my six- year-old son undergo a bone marrow transplant to beat cancer. This book IS about choosing growth over fear, no matter what our situations in life. From Larry and Hersch Wilson, I now understand that while we cannot control all the events that happen in our lives, we have a great deal of choice in how we respond to them. Do yourself a favor -- don't just read this book -- USE IT.

Practical NLP Selling Skills
I just got this book and have been studying it like crazy to apply the NLP techniques in it to help me gain appointments by using the telephone. Though I'm not in an industry where I have to sell over the phone - such as stockbrokers normally do - still I find using the phone to be a POWERFUL tool and highly under-utilized! Thus far the ideas presented in here have helped me gain 7 new appointments this week! THAT's impressive!

Wow , what a great model for phone sales
This book is a breakthrough with doing business over the phone. It is informative and detailed in the productivity that it can achieve. I keep the book nearby when I make calls and use the references constantly. My clients now buy from me instead of me selling. This book is a must for all who are in the search for a competitive edge.

Fun for "rules lawyers"
Every now and again, a game is stopped because some bizzare situation has occured and no matter what the umps decide, one (or both) team(s) will be greatly upset. This book looks at several such incidents and what rules do apply (there's **always** something in the rule book that does apply somehow). The complete rules are included as a reference.

Knotty Problems of Baseball
Help me to find this book.
Thanks

One Minute Sales Person
Published in Audio Cassette by Nightingale-Conant Corporation (June, 1987)
Author: Larry Wilson
Amazon base price: $29.95
Used price: $6.20

Useful basic info
"The One Minute Sales Person" is a book about sales. As the title suggests, the focus of the book is on various activities that you can do in "one minute". There is a lot of emphasis on the 80/20 rule, which says that 80% of the work is achieved by 20% of the effort. Basically it is a book about how to effectively prepare and present a sales presentation. The "one minute" stuff is just a brand and at times seems a little forced.

I like the book because it is short and easy to read. It contains useful, practical tips that are good if you are a beginner to sales. It puts a lot of emphasis on caring about the customer and finding out their needs, something that we all lose touch with from time to time.

Some things I don't like about the book include the third person perspective. Constant phrases such as "he had his doubts", "he wondered" etc become annoying and a tad confusing over time. The material is presented as a series of exchanges between a novice salesman and the mythical "One Minute Salesperson". Again unnecessary and garbles the message.

All in all a good introductory text if you're new to selling. I got through it within an hour or so and did learn a few things.

Less Is More...Much More
Of the hundreds of books now available which offer guidance on sales, this is one of the most valuable because -- carefully adhering to the "one minute principle" -- Johnson compresses an abundance of practical advice within just 109 pages. He creates a hypothetical situation in which "a very successful sales person" reflects back on his career and recalls specific people from whom he learned how to succeed. They include a wealthy and respected "salesman" who was now chairman of the board of a major corporation and several others, he explains, who also had become a One Minute Sales Person. The eager young man then seeks each out, schedules a meeting, and thereby sustains his learning process. By the end of the book, the New One Minute Sales Person receives a call from a "brand-new sales person" eager to obtain his advice. He agrees to meet with her, willing to share with her what so many others had shared with him. That in the proverbial nutshell is how Johnson organizes his material but such a brief description cannot possibly do full justice to the value of that material.

It would be a disservice to both Johnson and to those who read this review to say much more about this book. (I found myself in precisely the same situation when reviewing Johnson's Who Moved My Cheese?) I highly recommend it to anyone involved in significant relationships with others. Yes, yes, I know: That includes most of the adult population on the planet Earth. Permit me to explain. The core principles which Johnson advocates are relevant to any situation in which the objective is communication (e.g. explanation and/or persuasion) or providing service to others (helping them to solve problems, fill their needs, achieve their own objectives, etc.). Moreover, I totally agree with Johnson that everyone is a sales person, that selling to one's self and to others are interdependent, and that the most important "pay off" should be measured in spiritual rather than in material terms.

My strong suggestion is that anyone involved with sales or customer service in any organization (regardless of size or nature) should read this book. All of the workshops I devise and conduct for my own corporate clients are based on this assumption: That it is a great privilege to serve others. Those who disagree are strongly encouraged to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Provides Focus
Johnson (with Wilson) notes "I frequently look at my goals and then at my behavior to see if it matches my goals (p. 68). This is the practical advice offered throughout this well-written book. There is discussion of "relaxed excitement," whereby a person enjoys the process of success as it happens. The benefit of "seeing success" before it materializes is also included.
Sales is elevated beyond drudgery to altruism when one sells on "purpose." By this, the author means helping people get the good feelings they want about what they purchased (p. 25).

Read this book and you'll realize how many Larrys there are!
This book has repercussions beyond the Rise-and-Fall-and-Rise story of Oracle. The portrait of Ellison rings especially true for those of us who work in high-tech: reading it, I realized how many other, albeit less successful, Larry Ellisons are out there. A fascinating account of the Machiavellian mind at work, this book should be required reading for everyone on his/her way up the corporate ladder.

Everything I expected....
I have always been fascinated by Steve Jobs, and little did I know that he and Ellison were best friends. As the past president of my fraternity, I find their leadership styles and personality a lot like my own, which I find very scary at times. Ellisons aggresiveness, attitudes, etc. I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in Ellison not only read this book but read the July issue of Icon Magazine. It contains some good quotes from Ellison and others that know him. Mike Wilson he does a great job of making the book as interesting as possible. I am a computer geek, and admit that understanding computer life can be a bit dry if you are not a propeller head. I do agree with what someone said about Larry in an interview with Icon. He will definetly grow old lonely with that life style of his. Ellison will never accept anyone until he accepts himself. This book is well worth the price of admission.

Larry is a piece of work.
Having worked for Oracle as a technical support rep, back when there were only five of us in the US and seven worldwide (we kept our support database on paper because the database was too slow and prone to corruption!), I too recommend book.

"The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison" is a 'must-read' for anyone considering buying a relational database management system, working in the industry, or for anyone who is simply wants to mercilessly crush their competition with mediocre products and high pressure sales tactics. Larry Ellison makes Machievelli look like Saint Francis. However, like Ghengis Khan, you have to admire his accomplishments.
