Photographic masterpiece

A beautiful collection of pictures which will delight anyone interested in this area of upstate New York. The author has a style that is at once easy to read and engrossing. She is obviously a sophisticated individual and I hope to see more of her in print.

Very Informative

This is the best discussion of still-life work. I use this book as tool for learning and execution of still life in traditional style. Great illustrations and intelligent discussion of the artwork depicted.

A must buy for those interested in American art

Harnett anticipated Dada (his use of unrelated found objects) and the Cubists (his flat, geometric sense of composition). This, coupled with his uncanny realism, gives his homely still lifes an intriging sense of subversion. This book is the definitive source in print and is a bargain at $10.
