A SERIES OF WELL-DOCUMENTED ANALYSES
"Clinical Oncology: A Multi-Disciplinary Approach for Physicians & Students" did a thorough analyses of all aspects of general oncology. It is complete, comprehensive, and very reliable for evaluating and managing cancerous growths.
This book's well-arranged chapters provide detailed information on the pathology of several types of malignant tumours, before going ahead with their respective diagnosis, management and treatment. Its overview is sound and clear: a useful tool that every oncologist, G.P., or student would cherish.
The included CD-ROM is a big plus: especially for those who need something portable to lug around.

Excellent source book for basic information about cancer
While I have used this book for several years as a source book to understand specific kinds of cancer I only regret that there has not as yet been an updated version. Not only have there been new chemotherapeutic agents in use, there are also many new diagnostic tools. In the field of medicine six or seven years is an eternity, especially for cancer and related conditions.

Excellent! Concise and comprehensive.
This paperback book is an excellent reference for physicians, medical students, nurses, medical librarians, pharmacists who want a concise, comprehensive oncology reference. Chapters cover the basics principles of chemotherapy, radiology, surgery, and cancer diagnosis. Other chapters cover related- issues such as pain control and late effects. Chapters covering each type of cancer include information on the epidemiology/etiology, detection/diagnosis, classification, treatment and prognosis. The only shortcoming is that the book is somewhat outdated. One can only hope that a new edition is in the works!

Pleasing Prose
Jackie Williams is a friend of ours, a fellow collector of spud-abilia and appreciator of the potato, who has written several cookbooks as well as a fine food history work, Wagon Wheel Kitchens, Food on the Oregon Trail. Happily we can say that her newest book is a superb sequel, looking in on the pioneers once they reached their new home bases. Jackie has researched this subject down to the last eggless cake and translates all her findings into pleasing prose.

Starting with all-essential water, then moving from early kitchens--every woman wanted a proper cookstove, but many made do with Dutch ovens over hot coals--to the perils of pickling , Jackie Williams paints an engaging picture of the improvisational skills of early settlers and their appreciation for the bounty of the land when it came their way.

pretty disappointed
well, first of all, the title said "no fat" and well, almost all of the recipes here have fat in them, and the desserts have almost the same amount of fat as regular desserts! also, the recipes have no pictures, so it's a bit hard to follow. for some reason, and this may be the fault of my own, i expected more vegetarian recipes, and there really weren't that many (there was also a TON of dairy involved) but i guess other people ought to know that before they consider buying this. all in all i have to admit, i wouldn't recommend this book to my friends.

Little to recommend it
The size of this book should have clued me in. It's only about 9.25 x 6.25" and 171 pages of large type. Recipes are often quite separated from the norm, in my opinion, such as Athenian Market Stew. There are lots of recipes that require mint, of all things! There are no photos aside from the one one the cover. The index is its top feature, in that one can find a recipe a number of ways: by main ingredient, by type(like "Sauces"), etc.

To their credit, the authors do provide recommendations on how to stock a healthy pantry, read food labels, and even three ways to make a vegetable stock. However, these pages take space away from recipes, which is what folks buy cookbooks for. This book is a tiny one that can ill-afford the loss of recipe room!

Also, many of the recipes are quick and easy to prepare. The Braised Chicken with Sun-Dried Tomatoes is extremely good, and it's simple to fix.

For the money, I recommend you choose a more extensive cookbook. This is a handy little tome if you have ample room for storage, but if like me your space is limited, try to stretch it further with a larger, more worthwhile volume.

Outstanding
Silverman and Williams deliver again with this excellent cookbook that is devoid of recipes containing sugar, salt and fat. I don't much like the food I make from it, admittedly, but the recipes really are sound - especially the cheeseburger.

Salt-free forever
I could not really rate this book since it did not give me all the information I really wanted. Please add more pages for reviewing. I would also like to be able to have a list of all the stores that have this book in stock
