Saving Lenny and saving love!
The book Saving Lenny is one of the all-time best books. This romance novel really places a feeling of Love around the reader. The way a young senior in high school takes on the role of a nurturing mother to her boyfriend who has been diagnosed with depression is extraordinary. The way these two meet and share love and life is breathtaking. The best thing about this book is when the two young lovers run away to a cottage and live there for about a year. This is an adventurous romance novel.

The story was written, using emotions
This book is great! Fabulos! Everything is perfect, the emotions and feelings of the caracters were the most important thing for a book about a depressed boy-teen.

Terrific book. A new perspective on Thanksgiving!
A nice change from the usual "What size turkey should I buy?" and "What should I wear?". Don't get me wrong--I'm not against pilgrims, but this is a fresh book to cherish. Whimsical art. Rythmic storyline. A welcome addition to our library and my library at home. Margaret Willey, it's been a long wait for this children's book!

I've been waiting a long time for this delightful book!
I've enjoyed reading all of Margaret Willey's young adult novels. Illustrator, Lloyd Bloom, captures the essence of a "rollicking" Thanksgiving. Enough worrying about the size of the turkey and what to wear--let's get back to the basics!

The Bigger Book of Lydia
The Bigger Book of Lydia, by Margaret Willey is a compelling book full of vivid descriptions, unique comparisons, and lively characters. The story is about two very different girls who bond and become friends. I really enjoyed the characters in this book because they all tied into each other to create a refreshing change of pace from a lot of other books. The author used wonderful writing style to enhance the picture the plot created. The bigger book of Lydia captures the torment of being different, and through well-developed characters, turns it into a pride that you are different from other people.
In the beginning of the book, Lydia, the main character complains of being way smaller and different from her classmates and other people. She is fed up with the teasing she gets from other kids and call her "Littlebit" and "Teeny", and she starts to despise school. In her desperation, Lydia creates a journal recording which foods will make her grow, and what vitamins to take. She becomes more and more sick of her complicated life and idiot boyfriend, and turns to painting to ease her mind.
When summer comes, Lydia and her family receive a phone call from her cruel uncle who is sending his daughter, Michelle, who has an eating disorder to live with Lydia and her family. When the two girls meet, they are amazed how different from each other they both are, but cautiously build a friendship. The two girls share stories and become better and better friends.
As both of the girls become wrapped up in there eating habits (Lydia is now eating too much, and Michelle is eating too little) they begin to become more and more depressed until they realize that if they turn to each other for support, they can get over their problems. The girls make a pact that is Lydia eats less, than Michelle will eat more, and use their pride so that Michelle begins to gain weight and Lydia loses back the weight she gained. Soon after, Michelle hears some horrible truth about her fate and the girls are heartbroken.
I felt that this book was an awesome portrayal of how you can use your pride and dignity to solve a problem, and even if you come across a problem, somehow it will be smoothed over. This was an incredible book that I connected with my life. When I was younger, I always felt self-conscious because I was the tallest kid in my class, and I was ashamed of my height, but after a while, I realized that everyone is self-conscious about something and while I was worried about my tall height, people like Lydia were worried about just the opposite. This book was all about overcoming problems and differences.
The Bigger Book of Lydia centers on the theme of differences and great characters that gain self-confidence. This book is an awesome story that is great for all ages to read. It is a funny story with some dimensions of sadness, and confusion. I suggest you read this heartwarming story about learning to love yourself, and having pride to get over your problems.

Blue, sad, and a real thought provoker.
A sad story about one little girl trying to gain weight, and her meeting with a young anorexic. We see here both girls desires to change their appearence, and it reminds you that being a teen-ager in high school really sucks.

Wonderful, touching book
I had this book sitting on my shelf for a long time when one day I picked it up and read it--and was moved by Lydia and Michelle's plight as they struggled to find happiness with their own body size. Many unanswered questions gave the book a less preachy feel (such as why Michelle stopped eating), and I thought it dealt with anorexia in a very normal, unbiased way. The story was enjoyable, and though the ending wasn't satisfying, I felt satisfied with the book as a whole. This is a book for anyone who is insecure about themselves. I highly recommend it!

Watch out! Here comes Beatrice!
I love trickster tales and this one, with a young girl in the starring role, is a treat. Set in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Beatrice decides she needs to help her mother by earning some money. There are only 2 options: lumbering and gambling with the giant who lives on the other side of the woods. Beatrice heads for the giant. Fortunately, she's a clever little girl; equally fortunately, the giant is not clever at all. She makes bets that she can pound on his front door harder than he can, that she can carry more water from the well than he can, that she can throw an iron bar farther than he can. And she wins! This story is going to get lots of reading in my Michigan school.

Engaging illustrations!
I LOVE the beautiful illustrations in this book! They're full of rich color and details. The technique of combining watercolors and collage makes for an interesting look. I also enjoy the fun story where a little girl outwits a large giant, and yet both feel lucky at the story's end. This book is definitely a winner!

Lauren's review: If not for you
This is a great book for girls 10 and up. This book tells a lot about life facts and challenges.Once you get hooked you'll never want to put it down. The main part of the book is about a highschool girl who runs away with her boyfriend right after prom. Not too long after they get married and have a baby. It goes through their rough times and good times. There is also much more but I do not want to give the story away. I know you will enjoy it!

The Melinda Zone
I thought the Melinda Zone was a pleasing book to read. It wasn't too overwhelming. However, it wasn't blunt. The story is of a teenage girl going through the divorce of her parents. Friends and relatives help her through her troubles. She finds a way to confront her parents with her feelings about the divorce. This would be a nice book for a young adult to read.

Facing the Music
yes, it was well-written, yes the characters were well-developed but i was dissapointed in the end. i really liked the main character, who at first appeared to be strong, with real goals turned out to be quite weak, letting them treat her the way they did, and it had a dissapointing ending- in the end when her brother didn't find out what he should have. but i still- still reccomend it. it's well-written and will capture your attention.

Pretty good
I'd bought this at the school book fair, but hadn't gottne around to reading it. I sat down with it last night at eleven, and stayed up 'til two or so to finish it. It was a pretty good book, and the end made me cry. It was a little predicatable, but had a nice story line and fully developed characters. I would reccomend this to any one who has anyone who has an open afternoon.

Great!
This is one of my favorite books I've ever read and I've read a lot! I love books about music to start with but good writing and subject matter other than music help, too. This book is definitely in my top 5! Buy it!
