You've got to be kidding.....
I can't see the reason for buying a book on the ASVAB. You only need a 45 for the Army and a 65 for the Navy and Air Force. Anything above that is unnecessary. And if you can't score a 65 on this....then maybe a career in the military isn't for you.

Helpful Resource
I found this book very helpful in preparation for the ASVAB. I scored a 90. It helped to get familiar with the format of the exam itself, as well as the way questions are worded etc. It was that much less to think about at exam time.

Great Preparation
I bought this book and studied it at my leisure, not cover to cover. It really prepared me for the format and style of questions on the actual ASVAB. I followed the practice tests and read a bit on the subjects and still managed to score a 94! Definitely worth it! Better to take the test prepared and this is the tool to do it.

I Expected Better
I was a bit disappointed with the workbook, in that I found several typo's, as well as blatenly WRONG answers to some of the practice test answer keys. I interprit this as a lack of quality. Also I was remiss to find out that my ASVAB was to be computerized, not scantron. This was never mentioned as a possible test medium, but this is no big deal.

To the books credit....I found practicing the coding section extremely invaluable. And there was alot of good general information. So all in all, it helped....but I expected a better quality book.

I expected better
I found the book an easy read, covering a wide range of general information. I beleive that too much time was wasted explaining the basic priciples of taking a scantron exam, when in fact anyone who is human and has attended high school at time or another will know this rudimentary information. I was pretty disappointed to find a couple typo's in the text also. I was REALLY disappointed to find that some of the answers they provided in the key were straight up WRONG! But I will say this, buying to book was better than not buying it...but I hoped for a better tool.

My ASVAB Test Results: 99...they don't give 100's
I used this review book exclusively to study for the ASVAB exam and I was well pleased with the scores I received. I had been out of school for more than ten years and it was what I needed to get refreshed on so much subject matter.

Military Flight Aptitude Tests
I did fine on the AFOQT with this book. However I believe that a sample SAT book or a strong latin review will help with the two sections that deal with words. The math was pretty basic, similar to the SAT's and the charts and electrical mazes are larger on the test compared to the practice books. I think the best way to study for this test is to lock yourself in a room and play some classical music. The lord of the rings soundtrack worked for me, but anything will do. It is also important that you answer every question for the AFOQT. It hurts your grade more if you leave an answer blank. Just relax and try not to stress out. As for studying, take it a section at a time, and time yourself accordingly. The Person in charge of our test had a loud timer that was distracting, so maybe you will want a loud timer so you can get use to the noise. Honestly, the test was not as hard as I thought. Just eat a light breakfast and concentrate. Good luck!

I used this book and it worked for me
I decided after being a helicopter crewchief for 8 years that I wanted to attend flight school. My friends that were doing the same recommended this book to me- so I bought it. I already knew much of the material, but it did help me. This book contains tests for all services; I took the AFAST (Army Flight Aptitude Screening Test).
As I recall, the practice test was not exactly what I found when I took the exam (which is good so the test is not COMPLETELY compremised)but it was close enough that I had minimal problems with it. In some cases (the control stick position portion) the real test seemed much simpler than the version in the book.
Each time I come across someone who is interested in going to Army flight school, the first thing I do is recommend this book to them. Not only is it a good tool for practice and it explains the answers to the reader, but it is the only book in existence that I know of that points the reader in the right direction for the exam.
You can't walk in to take the AFAST without knowing something about rotary- winged flight. This book explains a little about retreating blade stall, dynamic rollover, translating tendancy, etc. so if you don't know these things, you can have a basic understanding of what they are. Without a clue of what some of these things are and how they pertain to helos, you won't have a chance when test time comes. Good luck!

A MUST buy for taking the AFOQT
I purchased a bunch of test prep books for taking the AFOQT.
I bought ...and the Arco Military Flight Aptitude Test book.

Out of all these books, the Arco Military Flight Aptitude Test Book did the best job for preparing me for the AFOQT.
It has ALL the subtests (not just the academic aptitude sections) so you get a very good idea of how the test is run.

I scored a 94 on both the Pilot and Nav sections, and had only 2 weeks to prepare for the AFOQT.
I have ZERO knowledge of Piloting but the book helped with the other sections that help determine the Pilot/Nav composite scores.

This book should be the FIRST on your list of prep books for the AFOQT.

If you did well on the SAT's, then don't buy this book!
Some test preparation books are great. They provide you with ample practice problems, but most importantly they provide you with critical test taking strategies. This book provides plenty of practice problems, but you don't need to buy a book for that! Just use your old high school text books! All the test basically compramises of is math and english and if you did well on the SAT, then you know you're already proficient in those areas. All you need is touch up work and this book won't help with that. The reason I bought this book was to learn the strategies behind the test. Unfortunately, this book contains very little of that. In my opinion, the sample test prep book that your service should provide for free is good enough.

Great book, but not the "End All" for the AFOQT
This book is great for those who do better on batteries that they can actually see or practice with prior to test day. I was able to take a number of sample quizes and it really let me know on what to work or focus. After using this book and the "Military Flight Aptitude Test" book from the same publisher, I scored over 90 in each section of the AFOQT so the practice works! However, other books would come in handy since this book only provides reviews of the tests and samples, with no instruction on concepts.

As other reviewers have said, a book which explains certain math problems or english theory would help those who find they are lacking after taking a couple of this book's sample tests. I would agree that an SAT book might be helpful as a companion. Also, the Verbal portion of the real AFOQT is much more complicated than the examples given here, so make sure you are a good reader and adept at pulling meaning out of passages.

So again, brush up on basic skills with another book but practice with this one. Good luck!

Good starting point
The sample tests were good to use to review, but the book did not contain any tutorials on how to do the "engineering"-type aeronautical questions. It does give you the correct answers, but no real help if you're starting from zero on these sections. Overall, the book is better than using nothing, but I would search the web for help on some of the electrical mazes and such if you are not familiar with those items. Also, when practicing, keep yourself strictly within the time limits - the biggest problem when taking the test (for me) was the time limit.
