A great read-aloud for all ages
I Love You the Purplest is a wonderful read-aloud for everyone! The main theme of mothers and their sons is an important one, but the wonderful words Barbara Joosse uses in describing the mothers love for each of her boys should be experienced by all children. The children love discovering where the color purple comes in the story! Every mom and teacher should own this book.

A book about uncomparable love
"I Love You The Purplest" is a book that kids will like and mothers will love, especially mothers of more than one child. In wonderful illustrations and delicious word pictures, it describes what every mother feels- the uncomparable love for each of her children, in their own unique way.

A beautiful book for families with more than one child.
Two little boys competing for their mother's affection learn that their mother can love them both differently and jointly to make a love yet stronger and more beautiful. This book would be a wonderful shower gift for a mother having a second child. The clever answers of this loving mom offer inspiration for the questions our children ask us, "Who do you love best, Mom?"

Mommy, do you think that REALLY happens ?
A book that will keep your child wondering if snow ponies really DO come alive when night comes along...... the kids loved it and I loved reading it with them.

The Magic of Winter
Every child knows that snow is magical. Remember waking up after snow had fallen during the night and just being able to FEEL that it had snowed without even looking? Remember it's crispy crunch under your boots? Remember how brilliant and flickering the stars were on a cold winter's night with the wind hushing in the pine trees? If you can remember these things this book will happily transport you back to those magical days. If you don't have snow memories then you had better read this book and make some! Children will love this and readily relate to its magical spell because they know all things are possible with snow. The story begins as Matthew sees the first feathery flakes of a snowfall and he and his sister, Molly, speculate about school being cancelled the next morning. Sure enough, a deep blanket of snow falls during the night and school is called off. The creative kids build a pair of snow horses rather than snowmen. (From the gorgeous double spread watercolor paintings you can see how to craft these beauties yourself and there's not any heavy lifting like there is with a tall snowman.) At night, Matthew and Molly slip outside and mount their horses, holding imaginary reins. Much to their delight the horses come to life and take them on an incredible moonlit ride through the snowy wonderland of a moonlit winter landscape. I grew up in Ohio where the artist grew up and where the author currently lives and it is certainly magical the way these two have captured every nuance of a snowy winter, the sounds, silences, smells and textures, the cold and the exhilaration. They both remember childhood so clearly and we find it springing off the pages of this wonderful book, astride two snow white horses with shaggy fetlocks and flying manes and tails. Share this joyful book with your kids and get out there, if you're lucky enough, and build a couple of snow horses, too!

Riding beneath the night sky on horses made of snow
Molly and Matthew are delighted when it snows and school is cancelled. They make a pair of giant snowballs but instead of putting one on top of the other to make a snowman, they put them side by side and create a pair of snowhorses. Then in the middle of the night, Molly and Matthew sneak out to ride their snowhorses, only to find their creations magically spring to life and carry them off across the snow draped countryside. Constance W. McGeorge's vision of the "Snow Riders" is brought to life by Mary Whyte's paintings, which rely on impressionistic elements to make the magic of this story come alive on the page. Whether your child loves horses or snow, or even both, they will find this story enchanting.

Besides, a snowhorse is not only more beautiful than a snowman, it is also a lot easier to make!

A beautiful and deeply moving story.
I cannot read this book without crying! It is a touching story of a Mother's love and generosity... and a daughter's sacrifice which is truly rewarded with something that money can't buy. The miracle worked with Mama's hands is breathtaking! Mama's Way will bless you and give you a beautiful tool to reach into your child's heart and talk about things like self-sacrificing love & frugality. The sunny watercolor illustrations will create a picture in your heart that you will never forget.

This is a wonderful book for children of all ages. Ours love to hear it over and over -- and we tickle them when grandpa does the tickling. Now they want to hear this book, because they know what's coming up -- tickles for them, too ! The story is engaging, and the illustrations are just wonderful. Our children identify with those being told the stories -- and can't wait for their tickle time ! A great choice for getting involved in a loveable way with almost any age child ! And what a gift for the holidays -- because it builds in your own love !

Great book for little kids!
This book is a wonderful book about a golden retriever who know's it will not be a regular day! More and More boxes appear in the house, and less and less things appear in the house and are put in moving vans! Will Boomer like his new home? This is a great book to read to kids who are moving and don't wanna leave!

A pet lover's aid to moving day
Although we were not moving very far, I wanted to prepare my 3 year old with a book to which she could relate. Because we are animal lovers with a dog like Boomer, this book helped my child understand what was going on in her life. The book is told through a narrator in the dog's point of view. The illustrations are also at "dog-eye level." I looked at other books, but this one met my needs the most, because it tells the tale in a vantage point similar to my child's. My daughter is too young to really resist moving, but she didnt' "get" the idea that everything she owned would be coming with us and that the new house would be just as good if not better than the old. Boomer tells the story from a confused beginning to a happy ending once he discovers his new house has wonderful things for him to do and new friends to make. I highly recommend this book to help your little one's moving day transition.

Boomer's Big Day
This is a wonderful book for those who love dogs and children. The illustrations are clear and detailed showing many household items. My 1 year old son has this book with him at EVERY meal, and spends several minutes on each page, identifying each item. It is a wonderful learning tool.

a sure favorite!
Loved the simplicity of the storyline and the absolutely gorgeous illustrations. A keepsake!

Awesome
Marvellous story. beautifully illustrated. Children love this story. The search for the scarecrows hidden in the pages creates a level of glee that keeps the child and adult involved.

Waltz of the Scarecrows
This is just a fun book about a girl staying with her grandparents on their farm for the summer. When her Grandpa starts dressing scarecrows in nice clothes, her curiosity is peaked. Grandma and Grandpa tell the tradition of the whole town dressing up their scarecrows.

This story is really cute and reminds me of growing up with my Grandparents and the special traditions and fun things we did. The beautiful watercolor illustrations clinch it for me.
