Excellent Inspirational Book!
This is a stunningly beautiful volume about the spiritual practice of questing, which also engenders devotion, attention, and transformation. Jennifer Westwood has gathered individual accounts of 25 journeys to sacred sites including Mount Kailash in Tibet, Santiago de Compostela in Spain, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico, Chaco Canyon in the United States, Croagh Patrick in Ireland, and Skikoku in Japan. In addition, she has included excerpts from the writings of pilgrims of all eras and places.

In all the world's religions, pilgrimage "springs from an inborn yearning for an encounter with the divine." Hindus, for example, are convinced that once a person turns 50, it is time to go on a pilgrimage. Islamic believers try to read "the signs on the horizon." Christian visitors to sacred sites look for "communitas," a spiritual solidarity with others. Buddhists honor relics containing physical traces of the Buddha.

"Sacred Journeys" contains over 100 full-color photographs and illustrations of landscapes, ceremonies, talismans, and sacred shrines. There is also valuable information for those who want to go on a pilgrimage to one of the sites covered in the book.

Outstanding Resource For Spiritual Seekers
I purchased this book to learn about the Road to Santiago, but I have read it cover to cover. It covers sacred pilgrimages made by believers of many religions and over most of the planet. The author shows respect for all seekers and pilgrimages, and explains their purposes so that I could understand why this pilgrimage was important to each faith. I really loved the practical information, such as the detailed maps of the route, and have referred back to many of the pilgrimages often. An outstanding collection for anyone who wants to understand more about the nature of the spiritual journey.

Breathtaking Photos
This book is filled with amazing photographs of mysterious places from around the world. Each place is accompained by a wonderful description filled with theories and facts about the place. The descriptions are each perfect lengths and are straight to the point. They are not filled with a bunch of information that you would not be interested in. I found this book to be incredible informative yet enjoyable at the same time.

Not a Ghost Story!
This is a very interesting guide to where to find the artifacts and unexplained relics of Cornwall. It includes a short synopsis of the story or folklore of the subject and then tells where it is located in Cornwall. It's almost a visitor's guide, but with the legend behind each place. A must for those visiting Cornwall. It includes lots of pictures and drawings but alas, with only 72 pages (including the index) it does not go into much depth.
