Harold Weisberg is the foremost writer of the JFK assassinat
I have read all the works of Harold Weisberg, included "Never Again" which is a summary of other books of Harold Weisberg. After studying his work for many years, is HW in my opinion the foremost researcher of this american tragedy. Read "Never Again" and be convinced.

Weisberg took 500 pages to attack small article in JAMA
This book appears to have been written by a man who was very mad at the JAMA article on the assassination. He wasted lots of space repeating and repeating that he had received info through the FOIA. I have not read the JAMA article, but it must have mentioned Weisberg by name to get him this cranked off. He also spent lots of time trying to tie down exactly what Dr. Hume had destroyed. Yet he has no proof that what was destroyed is any different from what Dr. Hume submitted. I found the book a "difficult read" and considered throwing to away as opposed to finishing it.

Once again, the truth is laid bare
In yet another triumph of research, Harold Weisberg proves why the critics are slow to attack when they walk past "Old Yeller." The grandfather/watchdog of the JFK community, Weisberg puts time-tested wisdom to the post-Posner world of JFK, revealing new insights into the JAMA claim that supports the pro-Solution position, but in flagrant disregard of the physical evidence. Weisberg makes no qualms about his anger in this book, but the reader all the more appreciates the passion and animation that this brings to this factually solid, well-planned book. To the new and old alike, you WILL learn something here!!

EXTRAORDINARY
As an assassination researcher myself, I have become disheartened to see some researchers publish books solely for profit all the while forwarding ridiculous theories. Harold Weisberg is unique. Whitwash has laid a basis of credibility for all honest researchers to follow. No other publication can approximate its content. Whitewash analizes the unmistakable failings of the Report itself exclusively on the basis of the Commission's own information. A must reading for every American.

If you read only one JFK book, it should be this one
Harold Weisberg read the Warren Report and realized it was wrong. As a lone researcher, he took it upon himself to write "Whitewash," one of the first books to criticize the sanitized lone-assassin theory the government was eager to put out and the public was just as eager to ingest. Jay Edward Epstein, Mark Lane and Harold Weisberg disturbed the media calm that prevailed after newspapers worldwide delcared that one could rest easy, there was no conspiracy. Weisberg doesn't produce grainy photos of supposed gunmen, or interview questionable witnesses with swiss-cheese credibility. He goes into the Warren Commission volumes, shows the contradictions, and lets the facts almost speak for themselves.

This book is a stunning indictment of the pro-Solution position, and casts grave doubts on the efficiency of the Warren Commission. Whether the collective incompetence of the government was accidental or deliberate may be left up to the reader, but to hear Harold Weisberg is to hear the facts that were never made public, but which at the same time will not go away.

If you only read one book on the JFK assassination, make it this one. In a whisper, this book speaks volumes.

Oswald Exonerated
If Oswald had lived and Weisberg had been his lawyer, the case against Oswald would have been quickly dismissed. Weisberg simply uses facts, objective observations, photographs, eyewitness testimony, and what was NOT said in the Warren "Omission" to prove that Oswald could not have been the shooter and that there were gross injustices done in Dallas. I am convinced that Weisberg is honest in his portrayal of facts. He doesn't attempt to answer who killed JFK; he attempts only to prove that Oswald is innocent based upon the facts available. I found the book to be very interesting. The first half of the book held my attention while my attention began to roam during the second half of the book. Why? Weisberg quotes too much evidence without the benefit of giving the readers a picture with which to make comparison. In other words, it's often difficult to "see" what he is describing. This makes the reading somewhat dry on occasion. I believe the book would have been much more entertaining had photographs of the evidence he sites been included.

The Man Who Shouted "Naked!"
Harold Weisberg is the Dean of conspiracy writers. He has spent an incredible amount of time and energy researching the Warren Report, and its exhibits. Those who have viewed the video series, "The Men who Killed Kennedy," will recognize Mr. Weisberg as the wrinkled man with the quiet, well-reasoned voice.

Now 87 years old, Weisberg here gathers much of the material from his prior books into a comprehensive and readable volume.

There are many books that deal in pure speculation to show that the Mafia, or the CIA, or the FBI, or others, killed John F. Kennedy. This book is not one of those.

Weisberg uses the Warren Report, the 26 volumes of exhibits, the autopsy of President Kennedy, and numerous documents he has forced to be released, using the Freedom of Information Act, to make his points. He boldly calls Arlen Specter, the author of the "Single Bullet Theory," a liar, and invites Specter to sue him for libel.

This book does not attempt to identify the persons who killed President Kennedy. It does prove, however, that it was done by conspirators, and that the U.S. government deliberately covered up the truth. The proof uses mostly the government's own evidence.

Occasionally, the editing is slightly ragged, and the comments of Mr. Weisberg are opinionated. This book was not written to be a best-seller, but to "tell it like it is." For that reason, it is valuable to a serious reader about the assassination.

Decades from now, when the complex mystery of the JFK assassination is still a fascinating topic, Mr. Weisberg will still be respected and honored as the man who forced out the truth.

I strongly recommend this book.

Almost as bad as Rush to Judgment
Weisberg makes a lot of big mistakes in his book. He seems to have this personal grudge against Posner for destroying one conspiracy theory after another. Oh well. Almost 40 years after the assassination and all I still read about is mysterious 2nd, 3rd, 4th . . . 1,232,982th . . . zillion . . . ad infinitum gunment spraying lead all over Dealey Plaza. Sheesh, I must have been the only one not involved in the conspiracy. Where did the conspirators meet, Madison Square Garden?

Weisberg scores a hit. Posner is a phony.
First the down side of Weisberg's book. The editor did a lousy job. A reference to New Orleans District Attorney as "John Garrison" proves that point.

As to the substance. I proudly own every book Weisberg's written. They are often tedious and difficult to read. However to those willing to invest the time, they contain outstanding scholarship and incredible amounts of research effort.

Weisberg attacks the central theme of "the slickster" Gerald Posner in Case Closed. Weisberg wins. Posner could not have done the research he claims in the short time span he's acknowledged.

Weisberg clearly demonstrates that Posner was aided by the CIA by showing how the agency made former soviet spy Nosenko available to him. They don't do that for just anyone. I am of the belief that Posner was a man on a mission and this mission was bought and paid for by the CIA and an establishment willing to kill the Warren critics once and for all.

If the book were edited better I'd give it a 4 or 5 star. However, even at 3 Weisberg kills Posner's slick tome. A good quick read and definately worth the effort.

Thoroughly Debunks the Joke that is Posner's Book
Carefully analyzes and decimates the piece of swiss cheese that is Posner's book "Case Closed." Excellent read, illustrating not only how readily the lazy lone gunmen theorists and Warren Commission apologists like Posner can get book deals for what amounts to third grade school reports on the JFK assassination, but also to what degree the media and so-called journalist communities have conceded true research on the case to scholars and average citizens.

Along with the recent audio and dictabelt evidence that details MORE than three shots in Dealey Plaza, Fetzer's book opens the case even wider, than it's always been -- and sheds much light.
