Nearly 40 years ago, as a 15 year old girl, I took this book from my parent's bookcase on a cold, Sunday in March. I held out little hope because it was my mother's book, but I was bored and had run out of library books. From the opening page I was enthralled. I read all afternoon and into the evening. The love story of Kathy and Mike appealed to my young, romantic heart. But as I moved into the middle of the book, I missed the romance and found it less exciting. Their married life was not as romantic as their courtship. I read it again twenty years later and saw a different book, one about a maturing marriage and the problems it faced. It seemed much more relevant as a 35 year old mother. I read it again a couple years ago and saw even more in the story; it became a much richer novel each time I read it.

This book was a wise purchase by my mother in 1947 for it has continued to live, and grow. As a girl it was a love story, 40 years later it is the portrait of a marriage. I found a copy in a used book, just like my mother's. I will read it again.

I am 13 years old. I just finished reading Mrs. Mike. My mother found the book at our public library and told me I should read it. I didn't bother to find out what it was about. You know how people always tell you not to judge a book by it's cover? That is exactly what I did. Since it was old and worn I expected it to be a book that I wouldn't find interesting, or very good. I was SO wrong! I have read many books and this is the VERY BEST book I have ever read. My mother told me that the book has stuck with her ever since she read it! I can see why. I couldn't stop reading it! It is a very well written book telling about a young Boston Girl, Katherine Mary O'Fallon and Sergent Mike Flannigan, a Canadian Mountie, who fall in love and start a new life in the Canadian Wilderness. There life is full of love, hardships, and friends you will never forget. I recemmend this book to anyone who can sit still long enough to read it!!

I literally can't remember when I read this book for the first time. What I do recall is how much I enjoyed it, although I certainly was too young to understand the romance between Katherine Mary O'Fallon of Boston and Sgt. Mike Flannigan of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. To me it was simply a grand adventure set in the Far North, with (always a plus!) a young woman protagonist.

I finished re-reading "Mrs. Mike" last night, and I know exactly why it's considered a classic. Everything I loved about it in my girlhood is still there, with the grand adventure even more powerful to my more realistic adult imagination - but now the rest of the story is accessible to me as well. And I can only say: Magnificent! Because this is that rare and wonderful thing, a love story about women and men as they really are. The stark realism of life as Kathy and Mike face it, in a land that's isolated, dangerous, and at times nightmarishly brutal, makes the happiness they find together shine all the more brightly. It also gives new meaning to the phrase "dearly bought." The same applies to the friendships Kathy finds with other women, each of whom is a memorable character in her own right.

I am so glad I visited these old friends again!

Like most of K. A. Applegate's Animorph books, this sci-fi special edition is on my reread shelf. Every time I pick the book up to read it again I find there was something I had missed the last time.

'The Andalite Chronicles' begins 21 years ago. The universe is threatened by a species that enslaves the intelligent life forms from each planet.

The Yeerks.

These aliens are parasites who, several years before, were given the technology of space travel by a sympathetic member of another alien species. And so, it now lies on that species, known as the Andalites to destroy the Yeerks.

The story opens up with an andalite 'artish' (a warrior in training) on board a battle ship in space. This young artish, known as Elfangor is the main character in this book. He has been recruited like the other cadets to fight the Yeerks. Later, when he is assigned to accompany a Prince (a leading warrior or officer) on transport duty, an unforeseen chain of events takes place. This leads him across the galaxy with a fellow cadet, the Prince and two humans, to stop the Yeerks from getting hold of the universe's most dangerous weapon of all time. So dangerous that it had been hidden for so long that most of the more intelligent species thought it a myth. The Time Matrix has been found and now, the fate of the entire galaxy is in the hands of one war cadet.

'The Andalite Chronicles' is my favourite K. A. Applegate book. Elfangor is serious, somewhat kind, smart, insightful, and like all of us, makes quit a few large mistakes. Animorph readers will find this book has a few surprises in the end. To me, I don't think I'd ever sell this book. It's a definite keeper.

I really like this book because it is exciting and suspenseful. Most of the story takes place on an Andalite Dome ship called StarSword. There are battles in space between the Andalites and the Yeerks. In this story, the Yeerk's mission is to take the Time Matrix, the most powerful time machine in the universe and also to take over an Andalite by making it a Yeerk host. The Andalites find the Time Matrix first, but the Yeerks do take over an Andalite, who just happens to be Arbron and Elfangor's prince. Elfangor and Arbron are the two main characters. Elfangor and Arbron go on many trips in space. They even go to the Taxxon home world, where the Yeerks take over Arbron and Elfangor's prince, and where Arbron gets stuck in Taxxon morph. The Taxxons are snake-like creatures who are all voluntary hosts to the Yeerks. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in what came before Animorphs #1.

This was truley the best book known to man. Okay, maybe I think this only because I'm a major animorphs fan, and I'm most like Aximili, and since I scored war-prince on the Andalite quiz. Still, it was full of thrill. I've read all three parts, like a million times. I think it's sad how the Ellimist takes Elfangor away from his family right when Loren is pregnant. Imediatly when I glanced at the name Alloran-Semitur-Corrass, I recalled Animorphs #8. The end left me grinning with pure exitement for a week. Tobias is my absolute favorite character. One thing's for sure- I'll die if I miss the Hork-Bajir Chronicles. Keep upthe good work, K.A., and "never underestimate the power of a morph."-front cover of #14.

This is about to be the second time the animorphs go in the past 1) #11 2)now K.A. says this megamorph is gonna be much better than the last one were talking exploding nuclear bombs,2 new alien races,dinousars,the existence of broccili and a cool cover unfortunately when they get back to the present they won't be able to use the dino morphs also she says Tobias and Rachel spend alot of tme together(ooooohhhhhh!)that's all in my opinion BUY THIS BOOK!!!!

In this book, Marco saw something about a sub drowned and divers were working on finding it. Well, The animorphs found it all right... and then it explodes, when they wake up they think everything is different, and then a dinosaur EATS Rachel and Tobias. Inside the dinosaur, still alive, Rachel morhs back to human, Tobias morphs to hawk then to human and then Rachel and Tobias get into a Kissing - Fit and then Rachel decides.... Well, that would have been cool if that really did happen. Rachel and Tobias do morph out though. But that's all I'm telling except for this, It takes a while (For Cassie Jake Marco and Ax to realize they are back in time. (They got sepperated from Rachel and The T. when the Dino ate them. But Rachel and Tobias notice right after they get out of thee dino..... after all, Who wouldn't when there was a heard of dinosaurs (I forget what type) were over near the beach????

Okay, everyone gets a T-rex EXCEPT Rachel and Tobias. They get Deinonychuses (repeat: die-NON-ick-us.) It's like a Velociraptor, except real Velociraptors were only 3 feet tall and Deinonychuses were the 5- and 6-footers. No Ellimst and no Time Matrix; it's a Sario Rip. The only morph that anyone keeps is Ax's new dolphin. I don't want to give too much away, but they run into lopsided crab aliens and aliens that I assume are the predecessors of modern-day ants. No Pemalites or Yeerks. And it comes in six colors with a different character on each inside jacket. I have Tobias in purple (it's out in May, folks!) and loved it, just like all the other Animorph books, and can't wait until #19.

I first read this book as a teenager, it changed my life! I'm now 40 and I must have re-read it at least a dozen times. Anya Seton transported me back to the fourteenth century and I live and breath those characters each time I re-read it. I have looked up all the places on the map, visited Old Bolingbroke, Kettlethorpe and Lincoln Cathedral. The Cathedral bookshop publishes an interesting booklet about Katherine and Joan's tomb. The book has inspired me to study medieval history at university, read about medieval mysticism and The Great Pestilence and study the lives of the mighty Plantagenets. One can learn so much from this book, matching the facts to the necessary fiction and the truly great thing about it is that it compels the reader to want to find out more and more about this fascinating period in English history. Oh how I wish the Savoy was still standing! English history lovers will also enjoy the excellent Green Darkness (tudor)and Devil Water (Stuart).

My mother first read this book as a late teenager, and fell in love with it--the characters, the history, the writing style, etc. She named me after Katherine, and presented the book to me when I was thirteen--I have since read it five times. The novel transports you back to the late fourteenth century, into a time immediately before the chronicling of history really began. It brings clarity to a fuzzy image of the period. Not only is this book the least painful way to learn about this era, it also brings it alive with a vividness not often seen. This time period, so often snubbed by historians as just another unimportant century in the Middle Ages, has its share of important characters and events: Geoffrey Chaucer, the Peasant's Revolt, the Black Prince, etc. Seton does well in portraying a time colored by intrigue and revolutionary change. It paints a portrait of England directly before its transition into a world power. All told as a subtext of a great Romance and historical drama. A wonderful portal to another time.

"Katherine" is Anya Seton's finest book, which is high praise considering her talent. She is a very fine writer with excellent attention to detail and historical accuracy, as well the ability to make the characters come vividly alive.

This is of course a very fine and entertaining story. There is our heroine Katherine, with all of her trials and tribulations, and who finds herself unexpectedly thrust into a turbulent life with a turbulent royal family! It is interesting to note that through the children she had with John of Gaunt, she is a direct ancestress of all of ruling Kings and Queens of England from that time on (and a great many members of European royal families as well)! Katherine made her mark on history in many, many ways.

This is an utterly charming and beautiful book. I was about 12 when I first picked it up and was immediately enchanted by the writing, the adventure and the history, and return to it time and time again. The book is peppered with other interesting historical characters - for example Geoffrey Chaucer was married to Katherine's sister, and appears from time to time full of wit and stories.

So read it for yourself, and introduce it to a young lady in your life. You could not bestow a finer gift.

Aximili, the brother of Prince Elfangor is an andalite (a morphing alien that looks like a deer, human and scorpion), was discovered by the animorphs (five kids that are the only humans that can use the power to turn into any animal they touch)at the bottom of the sea. Since then he has worked side-by-side with them. But there are certain things he cannot explain. It would be breaking andalite law. Yet there is a law he has not fufilled: to kill Visser Three, the only yeerk to infest an andalite and the murderer of his brother. But since the animorphs know he's been keeping secrets from them, it seems like he has to go it alone. This is the first Aimorphs book to be narrated completely by Ax and is the funniest one.

Most of the people reviewing say "I dont want to ruin the book for you" but I think I'll be a jerk and tell you. hehehe. It is about an alien named ax (he's pretty weird). He goes to the movies and crawls on the ground sayin "Brown globuels Imust have Brown Globules(Brown globuels are choclate).Anyways the yeerks are dying cause of lack of kandrona rays. Axteams up with a yeerk to stop visser 3. Ax turns into a snake and bites visser 3 on the leg and poisons him. the yeerk visser 3 crawles out of his head and jumps in the lake.They try to save the andelite but they can't.So the animorphs get away end of story.

As always, I'm obviously way over the target age group. I'm taking the time to review each Animorphs book as I reread the entire series. My hope is to give parents, teachers, and anyone else the point of view of an adult who's outside the usual reading age for the series. Other reviewers have already given the overall plot, so I'm here with a few other thoughts. As other reviewers have commented, this book is very much about choices, and has a large dose of good humor involved. This is the first of the series which doesn't have heart pounding action and battles throughout the story, yet it remains just as entertaining. Ax is very amusing, and the story imaginative, giving readers a peek into Andalite culture and their people. Ax's race is one which holds rituals which are much different than our own, and honor is held in very high regard. It's a story about a young boy who is far, far away from his home, with his culture's heavy burdens which he must bear. The choices are huge to him, because someone once broke a law they now call Seerow's Kindness, and released a chain reaction which has made billions suffer for it. Should he, then, break that same law, even if he thinks its for the best -- even vital to the Animorphs winning the war? If he does, what repercussions will it have, because he ultimately doesn't understand who he's dealing with? The humans are as alien to him as Ax is to them. In an accident, he reprograms software for Marco's father. Ax thought it was nothing but a child's game to find all the errors, and fixed them in a few minutes. Not realizing what he did, he hands the ability for Zero Space travel to humanity. What if the Yeerks find out, for surely they will know it was an Andalite and not a human? In undoing that, he could also use it to call his parents, so far away. The book is about loneliness, too, in a way that everyone can relate to in some way. True to Animorphs style, however, its told through a young alien to make it new and interesting. There is also friendship, trust of utter outsiders on both sides, dealing with fears both huge (when Ax has to face Visser Three and doubts he'll survive) or small. Ax has to decide if he'll use the technology to call his people, another decision which goes against everything he'd been taught about Seerow's Kindness and his people's laws. There's laughter in this, a good story, and a whole lot more as the reader learns about Andalites first hand, and for the first time. A very excellent read and addition to the series.

Jake's brother Tom - a Controller - seems to be pretty interested in some new hospital. So the Animorphs morph cockroaches to infiltrate a meeting of The Sharing - a front organisation for the Yeerks. They find out that the Governor is having minor surgery - and they're going to infest him. There's worse - he's running for President. A Controller could end up in the White House . . . So they morph flies, and find a mini-Yeerk pool in the hospital. They try to destroy the Yeerk pool, but before Jake can morph, he falls into the Yeerk pool . . . They manage to destroy the Yeerks, but one escaped - and now it's in Jake's head . . .

This book is amazing! I originally thought, how're they gonna do this? But even though the book is set almost entirely in Jake's own mind, Katherine still manages to put across Jake's private battle with the Yeerks very well. The best bit is when he finds out the Yeerk in his head used to be Tom's . . .

When the animorphs discover that the Yeerks plan to make a presidential candidate into a controller during his stay in hospital, they know they have to act fast. The idea they come up with is to infiltrate the hospital and find some way of halting the plan. However, during the resulting battle, Jake is knocked unconscious and is infested by a yeerk. The other animorphs soon realise something is wrong and attempt to prevent the yeerk from revealing their identities to Visser Three. The only way to do this is to keep Jake captive for three days until the Yeerk is starved of the 'Kandrona Rays' it needs to survive. During this time, Ax must pose as Jake while he himself struggles against the Yeerk's dominance and the fact that its previous host was Jake's brother Tom...

After reading forty or so animorph books, I have to say I still rate 'The Capture' among my top three. It is interesting, enjoyable and original and the plot moves along at a fast pace. The good thing about this series is that it is both entertaining and informative and teaches the reader a lot about animals. I still believe that the earlier books in the Animorphs series are of a higher standard, and 'The Capture' just proves my point. This book should appeal to all nine to twelve year olds and I recommend all the Animorphs books, particularly #4, "The Message" and #13 "The Change".

I really enjoyed it. I was reading it on the bus,and thought I was Jake with a yeerk in my head. It has some laughs, about 90% from Marco. It also has suspense, danger, and some new morphs. what is special about Animorphs books is that the characters can turn into (morph) any animal they touch. They use this ability that they got from Andalites (good guys), to fight Yeerks, evil slugs that go inside intelligent species, Hork-Bajir, Taxxons Etc. and take over the body. Best book ever!!!

Well from the frist day, things were strange. But, for Cassie, the longer she was an Animorph, the more things started bugging her. Her grades got lower she was constantly lying to her parents and she was killing not only the enemy but the enemy's helpless slaves. Things didn't sit well with her. The only thing to do now was quit. But on her first day of not being an Animorph she still had problems, the enemy found her and they were now stuck in the woods. The only way for Cassie to save her friends now was to stay in woods for three day with the enemy or kill the enemy. The Departure was the best Cassie book I ever read. I don't even like Cassie. This was due to the fact that the real action began early in the book. Normaly books like that are real boring in the end, but KA kept the consistancy of the excitment and suspence the same level through out the whole book. It was more than just the suspence and excitment that kept me reading, it wa! ! s the setting I could see the woods all so clear and I could see the rivers and the fire and most of all the wildlife start to grow swiftly through my walls. I truly enjoyed the way that KA use the book HATCHET not only in mear text but in the story its self. She compared it to this story to make the more alike. This story also has a flaw. One controler uses the thought-speech brackets as his voice. Other than that this book is a marvel. I love the discriptive writing KA has been noted for, but moreover, the continuous action and suspence. I would suggest this for you to read under any circumstance as long as you also read HATCHET.

Okay, I've read and collected almost every single animorph book, and this is ABSOULUTLY the best Cassie book. Who would guess that Cassie would give up her human life so there would be peace between one yeerk and one human? And who would believe that not all yeerks want to conqeur the universe, that some want peace? This book is full of surprises when Cassie and a yeerk are stuck alone in the wilderness with nothing to do but trust their enemy. Stay tuned for more info on # 19 The Departure. Oh, by the way, does anyone have info on # 20, # 21, and # 22?? I would appreciate it. Bye.

Hello! The book sounds okay, but the reason that Cassie is quitting? That ridiculous! She has no reason to quit! I mean, look at Tobias! He's been turned into a hawk. His life is twice as hard as the others. And he is the most willing to survive, and fight. His life would be hard enough as it was as a hawk, trying to survive. And Marco? His father almost cracked when his wife died. And Rachel? Her father moved away. And Rachel hardly ever gets to see him. They all have reasons to quit, but Cassie has the least. But the book sounds exciting. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its narrated by Ax, and the Animorphs learn that a V.I.P man is in a coma and Visser 3 wants to morph him. Problem: Why don't the Yeerks just infest him? Anyway, the Animorphs try to morph him by becoming mosquitos and suddenly find themselves in Z-space. They end up on Leera where they are a part of a very important mission. I didn't love this book because Tobias is always left out! It's like K. A doesn't like to write about him. I liked the book though, don't get me wrong. It had lots of action and the animorphs got to morph aliens! An Animorphs fan

P.S: I'm just stating my opinion, so don't go chewing me out!

This book starts with a member of the secret service getting hit by Chapman in a mini-van, and is in a coma. Then Visser Three acquires him, so he can listen in on secret service meetings and so on. The animorphs morph into mosquitoes to get blood from the secret service member to acquire him from it (even though Cassie was totally against it). Then, almost all of thier mass is in Z-space, thier concious minds were snapped to their mass in Z-space, with no air. Then an Andalite ship comes and picks them up just as they become unconcious. The ship was on its way to Leera, where the Leerans live. On their way, the captain cuts of the T.O. officer's tail. That's how they knew he was a traitor, but Jake, Rachel, Marco, Cassie, and Tobias were in flea and fly and cockroach morphs. Then Ax Shot the captain with a shredder on high power. Then when they were past the atmosphere of Leera, they all morphed to flies and flew out the hatch. then it was getting dark, and they morphed to bats, but then Tobias dissapeared. Then Rachel dissapeared. Then they got to the water, and they morphed to hammerhead shark. Then they found Leerans, PHSYCIC Leerans, and they were controllers. But one of the Leerans had gotten control for a few seconds, and told them to bite the lobes in the backs of their heads, because that's where the Yeerks were. Then they acquired them, and swam to the Leeran city, where Andalites were waiting. The Leerans they freed had told the other Andalites of their presence. Then they demorphed. Then Marco dissapeared. Then they had to go find a switch to set of bombs hidden on the small land part of Leera, where the Yeerks were placed. Cassie dissapeared on the way. Then Jake dissapeared. Only Ax was left. Right before the bombs exploded, Ax snapped back to earth, too.

The Decision was one of the best Animorphs books! The beginning was funny when Ax ate too many cinnamon buns and Marco just happened to see a cute girl and came to check it out. The paramedics had come to the scene. They gathered in the woods and Erek, the Chee met them. He told them the second-ranking guy in the Secret Service, named Hewlett Aldershot III was in the hospitalin a coma. Chapman had run him over. The Animorphs morph seagulls and go to the hospital. Visser Three eyeballed them and came after them in his kafit morph. Ax did one on one with Visser Three. Visser Three is scared. He falls off the roof. The Animorphs come back to the hospital in mosquito morph. That's when things got exciting. Ax is on Hewlett's hand,when POP! He's in Zero-Space along with the other Animorphs. They almost die, but an Andalite ship rescues them. Later, Ax finds out Samilin-Corrath-Gahar,the captain is a traitor. The captain dies. So do everyone in the ship except for the Animorphs. They get away. They go on the Leera planet. Rachel and Tobias are in Leera morph when they disappear....The others find an Andalite commander. He tells them to help him fight a battle. Cassie, Tobias, and Jake disappear one by one. Soon Ax is alone. The planet blows up. Ax is back on Earth. The Secret Service guy woke up when he was bit by Ax in mosquito morph. They leave. Ax starts laughing weirdly. :-)

This is the first installment of the Animorphs books, my favorite series.

A group of teenage kids walk through a construction site, and meet an alien along with his ship. He tells them his name is Elfangor (trust me, you'll be hearing that name alot) and he is fighting Yeerks, slimy slugs that enter your ear and squeeze themselves into your brain to control you.

Elfangor says he is an Andalite, and he gives them the power to morph into animals. Just touch them and you get their DNA. But you have to concentrate. Then, the Yeerks land (in the forms of Hork-Bajir, big green dragon-like monsters with baldes all over them) and Taxxons (big yellow worms with a never-ending sense of hunger)Elfnagor tells them this through thought-speak, kind of like telekinesis. The kids hide behind a few barrels.

Viser Three, the only Yeerk to gain control of an Andalite and the only Yeerk with the morphing power, comes, morphs into a huge monster, kills Elfangor, then the kids escape and take a trip to a Yeerk pool (where Yeerks feed) and then you ave to read the rest of the story.

All Animorphs are good, and K.A. Applegate comes up with complicated plots and solutions that will amaze you. I give this book four stars.

This is a great book to start off this great series. The Invasion starts of the animorphs series and is one of the best. Jake, Rachel, Tobias, Cassie and Marco are normal kids heading for home. Then they decide to take a shortcut through the abandoned construction site. Suddenly, a space ship lands right in front of them. Out comes an injured andalite (which is an cross between a human, scorpion and a deer). He explains that the yeerks, a band of paristic aliens have come to Earth. They have turned some people into "controllers" by going inside their heads and enslaving them. The kids have to stop them. The andalite gives them the power to morph, which is the ability to turn into any animal they touch. Then a yeerk ship comes. Out pops Visser Three, the only yeerk able to control an andalite. He morphs into a horrible creature and EATS Elfangor (that's the andalite's name). The kids escape and think over these horrible events. Most of them are reluctant except for Tobias. But then they all fight together. It all ends in a fight on the yeerks' feeding ground. Find out what happens to Tobias who loses the battle in a way you can't imagine.

The bad guys are called the Yeerks. Their main enemy is Visser Three. The yeerks go into a person's ear and comes out every three days to feed on a ray called kandrona rays.

I like this book because it's funny and it's about animals. You can find Animorph books in a bookstore or check it out in your local library. There are lots more Animorph books.
