Robin's Ocean
i curled up with this book one night, expecting to fall asleep reading it....i did not put it down, i did not sleep until i had finished the book. it is a wonderful story of love lost, and found, and perhaps found again.of redemption and renewal.of finding one's inner core and place in this world. set in a bed and breakfast in maine, the descriptions are so vivid i could smell the salt water and hear the gulls. the characters so real they are with me still. i have bought copies to give to friends, as i will not let go of my copy. i will be reading this again...and again.

A beautiful, effortlessly written book.
This is a story of characters who find themselves when the ties that bind them are cut. Wallace creates a world in Maine so real you can see, smell and taste it; and characters so real that they even though they behave as they must, it makes the reader breathless to watch them. It is a stunning achievement for a first novel, and a story you will not want to miss.

Great read, by the beach or from your room at the inn.
Wallace has done, in a first novel, an excellent job of putting together a highly readable story about inn owners in Maine (and by inference all the rest of us) who seek to find ownership in their work, their sweat, their space, their relationships and love. And, of course, this is must reading for anyone who has the slightest thought of starting and running an inn! Thanks to Amazon.com for making a such a fine book by an independant publisher so easily and quickly available. Take your umbrella if you read this on the beach: you won't want to quit--rain or shine--until you finish.

The real thing
Behn's new book is magnificent. Poem after poem, hear such clarity of complication, such intelligence, such heart. If this book doesn't win ALL the prizes, I'll be surprised. On the other hand, it's a book that in all good ways doesn't seem to care about prizes. It's ambition has some eternity in it. Any serious reader of poetry will cherish this book.

Speaking of Music
The opening poem of Horizon Note introduces a spider who reappears at intervals throughout this book. The speaker states,
"If you play the fat black note of her body/anywhere upon her intricate staff/it only sounds like her." And the word-music Behn composes within this compelling book only sounds like her.
She has all her poetic instruments in tune. Through rhyme or playful word trills or long melodious movements of thought and sound, she playfully and painfully pushes words to their limits to confront and question their beauties and their frailties. Behn is a maestro here who understands the power of language, and at every turn--even in its griefs, its failings--she finds the music there. A stunning collection of poems.

Graph Connections: Relationships Between Graph Theory and Other Areas of Mathematics (Oxford Lecture Series in Mathematics and Its Applications, 5)
Published in Hardcover by Clarendon Pr (1997)
Authors: Lowell Wayne Beineke, Robin James Wilson, Wilson Beineke, and Robin J. Wallace
Amazon base price: $75.00
Average review score:

Great resource for undergraduate libraries
Wilson and Beineke have compiled a wonderful volume. Each chapter outlines a topic or area in mathematics and its relation to graph theory. Number Theory, Codes, Groups, Geometry, Topology, Computing, Artificial Neural Networks, Probability & Statistics, Knots, and more are treated. There is even a section on International Finance (exchange of currencies). Wilson provides a good introduction; a brief survey of the basic concepts and definitions of graph theory. (For more detail, Wilson has a couple of other well-written introductory graph theory texts).

The chapters are well-written, although the styles can be different as each has a different author. Proofs are omitted, for the most part, and most chapters do not assume a great deal of background knowledge, but the book does get into some deep mathematics, including current areas of research.

I highly recommend this book for inclusion in undergraduate mathematics library collections or for anyone interested in graph theory and possibly doing research in the area.

Beyond Traditional Biographies
This is a very intriguing book for those who are interested in history beyond a candy coated look back in time through rose-colored glasses. It contains hundreds of biographies whose details don't stop at the bedroom door. The authors carefully documented significant historical personalities, discerning between rumors and facts and siting their sources.

The Real Nitty Gritty
I found the book a fascinating look into the extremely private parts of famous people's lives. The book is chocked full of mini biographies of famous people. Writers, artists and movie stars. All of them have a private life that most have tried to hide from the public.

This book must have taken forever to research the facts. The book was written by almost all the same people that wrote the Peoples Almanac and The Book of Lists.

I actually wore out three copies of this book. It's one of those books that you pick up again and again.

For anyone looking into the "true history", this book is a must have. Through the years, I have gone through three paper backs and now have a hard back copy of this book. A real "keeper".
