Best book in years
I received it, at 15 years old, as a christmas gift. It was one of the last NEW copies. I read it over and over, and at that time I didn't realize what I had. Unfortunately, in college, I loaned it to a friend and never saw it again.
Wonderful! So well written!
The story line is so great. Most of us who grew up in small towns easily relate to the high school, the clicks, the "haves" and the "have nots". The tragedy that bound the girls together forever ultimately propelled them to achieve so much. Why has this book not been made into a MOVIE? It has all it takes to become a success. A soap opera: "Visalia"??? I noticed that in the back of the book a "follow-up" was promised. My local book store (new/used) can not locate a title for such a book. Has it been written under another name? Please let me know via e-mail if other books are available. Thanks Pamela for many hours of reading joy!
a real down home page turner
I passed this book to all my friends and they loved it too! It was believable and told in a way which kept you guessing. It was easy to get caught up in the lives of the four women. Three cheers for a story about women my friends and I can actually relate to.

Write Like a Pro From One of the Best
This is a skinny but great book, one of the best I've read on screenwriting. ... In this book, Pamela Wallace covers the basics, but also gives the reader solid professional advice, such as how to make strong, clear choices for a character that may or may not appear in your screenplay, but nevertheless help enrich the story. One of the most helpful points in the book is the section that deals with finding a character's defining moment - the point in the character's life that helped shape him and drives him throughout the story. There's also an interesting section on how to write compelling dialogue that actors can actually SAY, not just read. A big thumbs up for this one. Ms. Wallace knows what she's talking about.
Sage Advice From The Trenches
YOU CAN WRITE A MOVIE is the first screenwriting-related book I've read by someone who is a successful scriptwriter in the film/TV industry. Oscar-winning Wallace (WITNESS)has had fame & glory, but also has managed to stay "in the game". Her advice, her experience, & her knowledge come from a very real place which may not always reflect the usual information written in other screenwriting books. But reading her book & knowing that what's written is from a working professional gives this concise, easy-to-read book a much-validated recommendation.
splendid. The best screenwriting book on the market.
This book is a very concise guide to writing a screenplay by an oscar winning writer. I think this book is a welcome alternative to books by writers without real credits.(Syd Field etc). It is very helpful in helping a writer focus their story before writing the script. Writing a good logline and defining the theme are focused on. The chapters on charachterization and writing dialog are the best I have seen for the beginning writer.

Great Read!!
This book was really good and I would recommend it to anyone who like romance and time travel. It is about a woman who meets a 1800s cowboy and falls in love, though somewhat reluctantly. The story is full of adventure and will keep you on your toes the entire time. This is definatly a worthwhile read.

Just as good as the movie
I'll admit, I'm one of those people that see the movie first, then read the book. Although this book was published in 1996, the movie adaptation was not made until 2003, shown on the Hallmark Channel. It starred Teri Polo and Andrew McCarthy in the lead roles. I have always been a true romantic at heart and ever since I saw the movie last month I've wanted to read the book. Finding such an old book was hard but I am thoroughly glad I did. Zoey is a strong career-minded woman who wants to get married and have a family. Her reluctant boyfriend challenges her into answering an ad for rural single men. She ends up on a plane to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and meets Tyler Ross, a rancher who is not all that thrilled at meeting any female, let alone one from New York City. He has his own inner demons he's dealing with. Zoey is not thrilled either, but the beauty of the land keeps her there along with free roaming mustang horses. There are a few bumpy roads but once you finish reading this book you'll believe the sometimes life doesn't always turn out the way you planned and love can happen more than once in a lifetime.

More than 25 years of hands-on, personal experience
The Script-Selling Game: A Hollywood Insider's Look At Getting Your Script Sold And Produced by veteran scriptwriter Kathie Fong Yoneda is a candid and informative study of how Hollywood really operates, covering all of the overt and covert hoops that scriptwriters are compelled to jump through in order to get their work accepted by producers. In The Script-Selling Game, an entertainment professional offers a wealth of wisdom in the form of tips, tricks, techniques, and "insider insights" drawn from more than 25 years of hands-on, personal experience in the cutthroat environment of the Hollywood movie-making world environment. Individual chapters address the "necessary evil" of pitching a script, common industry buzzwords, what to do and not do when submitting a script, the eight most common reasons for script rejection, and a great deal more. If you are an aspiring scriptwriter, then you need to give a careful reading to Kathie Yoneda's The Script-Selling Game!
Very Informative and helpful
I thoroughly enjoyed The Script Selling Game by Kathie Fong Yoneda. I have read most scriptwriting books on the market and this one offers real concreate tips from a Hollywood Insider, that most other books don't offer. I've learned helpful strategies for not only writing my script, but also for marketing it, which will be invaluable to me for including what readers want and how to give them what they will buy. Hopefully, with using all the practical advice in the book, I'll make my script stand out from the rest. I highly recommend this for experienced professionals and beginning scriptwriters.
Translating Hollywood-Speak
The Script-Selling Game by Kathie Fong Yoneda is well-structured, offers easily understood translations of Hollywood-speak, gives valuable tips on writing for the reader, excellent step-by-step instructions on how to construct a story summary, suggests marketing research and networking strategies, and is actually encouraging in the face of all the daunting challenges of getting your script sold.
