Memories of Sector
This book is Linda's best. I have them all, being part of her family. She has captured the lifestyle and history of this part of West Virginia and combined it perfectly with her herbal lore. This book is just not for the hebalist but would be enjoyed by everyone.

Makes me homesick!
This beautiful book is bursting with information and wonderful word pictures. I would read it without the info about herbs just for the trip back to the Appalachian mountains I love and miss. However, the information is very interesting and helpful to anyone who wants to make use of the "everyday" plants that are around us. Great book!

Beautiful
What a beautiful book! Rago's writing is more poetry than prose, and really captures the beauty of what must be a wonderous place. Never before have I wanted to travel to West Virginia so much! The legends she weaves are fascinating, and the recipes are fun and easy to make. Try the West Virginia Blackberry Cobbler-delicious!

Extraordinary Moments Captured by an Excellent Photographer
This photographic essay has something for everyone. It covers 20 years in the White House from a very special point of view. Diana Walker with a camera in hand had access to moments in history that no one else has had. She has captured our Presidents in serious and funny situations and all the moods in between. Her descriptions are well worth reading and make this very special "coffee table" book all the more important in its place in history. I highly recommend buying this book and it makes a great present.

Wonderful
Diana Walker not only captures timeless moments in history, but through her comments and those of the former presidents and first ladies, gives you an inside view to the workings of the world's most powerful office. A must buy!

One of my favorites of all time!
This book was my favorite growing up. I read it when I was 7 or 8 and again and again and again. Somehow, I've lost my well-worn copy, but as soon as I find it again it will go up on my daughter's shelf for her to read, when she comes of age.

Moving and just plain fabulous.
Joanna Longfellow narrates a year in which she is fifteen and sixteen. I found her sitting in her grandmother's old barn, where she told me about her family, her life, and her unhappiness. From there, she meets her grandmother's neighbor, John Holmes, son of wealthy Mr. Holmes of Holmwood Farms, and his beautiful show horse, Queenie. She goes with her brothers, Maxwell and Julian, to Mr. Archer's home, where Maxwell and Julian are taking care of the old man's horse and fowl while he is in the hospital. She learns to ride on Mr. Archer's horse, Horse, and falls in love with her. When she and her brothers learn Mr. Archer's nephew is going to sell Horse behind his back, the concoct a plan to rescue her. In the middle of keeping Horse safe from Mr. Archer's nephew, Joanna meets John again, and they are soon friends. Joanna and John envy each other their "perfect" lives. The Year of the Horse tells of how Joanna made a her own life something she could envy, with some luck. And how John did the same, defying his overly-strict father with, rather than luck, the extra courage he needed from Joanna. Diana Walker wrote an unforgetable story when she wrote The Year of the Horse. Joanna is like a friend, who I have been happy for, and sympathized for when she said or did something silly. And who I have yelled at when she said or did something stupid. She is ignorant, funny, has a bit of a short temper, and sensible. When she's sad, I'm sad. When she's happy, I'm happy. When she's nervous or panicking or just upset, I shake my head at how easily she becomes nervous or panicked or upset. You aren't left wondering about anything. Everything is settled, and everyone happy, when the Year ends in May. Reading this book, you see the Year through the eyes of Joanna, and it's great.

Catherine Walker reveals fashion secrets
i have always been interested in princess diana. her most fabulous clothes always seemed to be designed by catherine walker, always a name without a face. now we can learn about the tragedy that turned this woman into one of the greatest designers of our time. catherine walker has carved out a place for herself in fashion history. an interesting story with beautiful photographs. a must have for all princess diana fans as well as fashion fans.

excellent
for those people who are disappointed because the book is a biography, the title should have been their first clue. i bought the book because it was a biography of one of the most talented designers or our time. catherine walker rose above tragedy and carved out a place for herself in fashion. the book also gives some wonderful accounts of the details that were involved in many of princess dianas fashions. this is a great book for anyone interested in princess diana and fashion.
