Arthrogryposis: A Text Atlas
I highly recommend this book to any parent, family member, physician, therapist ,etc who has a child or deals w/ a child that has Arthrogryposis. This book is very informational, covers a lot about various characteristics of a child w/ AMC. This easy to read book will be and asset to anyone who reads it.
Easy to understand
This book is written very well. I highly recommend it if you are trying to find out more about Arthrogyposis and how to treat it. It covers everything from explanations about the disability to types of corrective surgeries commonly used to ideas for splinting & bracing. It can be a little graphihc though since it has color photos of surgeries and children that are at times really involved. But it is realistic and understandable and equips you with good information. I bring it to any new therapy sessions to inform therapists and doctors who aren't familiar with AMC.
A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE DEALING WITH AMC
WITH SO MANY DOCTORS NEVER SEENING A CHILD OR ADULT WITH AMC. THIS BOOK WILL HELP YOU UNDERSTAND AND BEABLE TO INSURE THAT YOUR GETTING THE RIGHT CARE. IT IS OVERWELLING TO BE TOLD YOU CHILD HAS AMC BUT AFTER READING THIS BOOK YOU WILL KNOW WHAT TO DO FOR HIM/HER. I TAKE IT TO EVERY DOCTORS APPOINTMENT AND USE THE INFORMATION IN THIS BOOK ALL THE TIME. AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED THIS BOOK IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN GOLD.

Fascinating!
An excellent book - but rather frightening! It is hard to believe that anyone could commit such horrendous crimes and not get caught for such a long time. And it is easy to read with a smooth, seamless delivery that glides from page to page. Even the courtroom scene was riveting with the notes that passed between the killer and his attorney adding a dimension to the coverage that you seldom see. The Afterword wrapped it all up so well with quotes from the Texas Rangers, a letter from Tommy Lynn Sells and the personal impressions of the author. A fascinating read.

Peter Pan is a good book for kids and adults alike.
Peter Pan is a good adventure/fantasy that kids and adults can enjoy alike. With much exaggeration, it is something kids can enjoy and read into. It's a page-turning book that once you started you can't stop.
A Little Scary!
This isn't like the Disney movie! I loved this book but at the same time I was shocked by the violence of the fighting between Hook and the Lost Boys and the Indians. I don't think I'll be reading this one to my nephews and neices, not until I have edited out the violent bits. It wasn't that In-Your-Face violence of the Hollywood movies, it was more insinuated and there was definetly a menacing atmosphere surrounding Wendy's, Peter's and Michael's adventures in Never Never Land. I do recommend it though, just not for easily frightened youngsters. This is definetly in need of a PG rating on the cover. PARENTS: This is no Disney Peter Pan!
My daughter loves this Peter Pan.
My 10 year old daughter found this book in the school library. She read it one weekend and has checked it out several times. The classic story along with the beautiful illustrations by Eric Kincaid have made this one of her favorite books. When I surprised her with her own copy that I had found on Amazon she was thrilled and commented on it's excellent condition.

qol and missing data for statisticians
This is really the first really good book for statisticians on quality of life issues and methods with authoritative references. The author provides practical advice for qol studies in a clinical trials setting and provides sage advice on design of the study. Actual quality of life surveys are discussed and the importance of defining objectives is emphasized. Some real cancer trials are discussed and used as examples throughout the book. There is detailed treatment of missing data and how to deal with it including the latest statistical methodology. Much of the methodological development could apply to hard endpoints as well as qol endpoints.
I got this book and a good taste of its contents in a short course presented by the author at the Joint Statistical meetings in New York in August 2002. The only drawback of the book is that it does not spend much time on the issue of instrument validation. Also the author's experience is with cancer trials in an academic setting. The issues related to conducting qol surveys for a manufacturer that needs labeling or FDA approval efficacy and safety approvals is a prospective that I would like to see but the author does not have.
Excellent examples illustrated in SAS and SPlus.

Manual of IV Therapeutics as used for an IV class
I found Phillips' Manual of I.V. Therapeutics to be laid out well for individual learning and classroom formats. The information is up to date and the pre- and post-tests are a great way for the student to test their knowledge and understanding. I did find a few typos and a few statements that did not go exactly with the newest INS standards but Phllips does say to go according to facility policy which does not always agree exactly with INS either. I found two pre-tests where the answer to one question at the end of the chapters did not agree with what was said in the actual chapter information. Since I agree with her information I must assume the answer given at the back of the chapter was a typo. This occurred in the pre-test for chapter 4 and chapter 10. Phillips also talked about using Urokinase which has been recalled. For these reasons I did not give this book five stars but still feel it is best in format and over all information of any book I have found for use in my LPN IV Certification class. Thank you Ms.Phillips.
