Vince Fox - The Best Book I've Read
Several years ago, when I nearly died from the dangerous stupidity of AA, I was fortunate enough to find a wonderful Alternative Treatment clinic in St. Paul. And in that clinic, I read as much as I could and learned as much as I could. I, to this day, believe that ADDICTION, CHANGE, and CHOICE was the book that made the most impact upon me during the early stages of getting better. Several years later I still refer to it.
Vince Fox writes in a way that is easy to read, yet provokes a great deal of thought. For anyone trying to make a change in their chemical health life and is struggling, for those trying to learn more about chemical health truth in general, and for those who wish to break the bonds and bondage of 12Step terror, I highly recommend this book. It can add much to your life if you wish to change and to know the Alternatives that are available to all of us.

A new evolution in substance abuse treatment
By far, one of the best books I have read regarding alcoholism, and more specifically where we are and where need to go in upscaling our current treatment efforts of this insidious problem. I have read quite a few books on alcoholism and 90% endorse only one mode of treatment-AA. That is not only unfortunate, it is a sad state of affairs when we cling on to only one mode of treatment that is not necessarily the right one for everyone.

Mr. Fox had some of the deepest knowledge in regards to alcoholism and more importantly where we need to move forward to in achieving a better success rate in treating this problem.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who openly and objectively would like to know more about alcoholism and what other options are available to those who truly want to deal with their or a loved one's substance abuse problem and receive the appropriate treatment that they need.

A fair assessment of the major recovery programs available
Vince Fox, in plain and fair language evaluates the major players on the recovery scene. There are many choices out there, even if there may only be one in your town. Before following "the others" on the "Broad Highway" leading "you know where", it would be wise to educate oneself on the principles of the lesser knonw recovery programs. What do they represent, what ideas to they promote, why did they come to be? I love the part where significant word clusters found in the Big Book are itemized for the reader. Over 200 instances of God and related words??? hmmmmmm... Spiritual, not religous... hmmmm.....

Absolutely bewitching!
I wasn't sure what to expect with this anthology, but I found myself enthralled from beginning to end. Nnedi Okorafor's "Crossroads", Seth Lindberg's "Atropos", and James Dorr's "Madness" were special delights.

Stories for all tastes
A great mix of chilling, horrifying, and otherwise entertaining stories.

Very Satisfying!
This is a great compilation of magic, madness, culture and creativity. All of the stories were pretty satisfying, some of them terrifying! There are some writers here that are going to go places. Watch for the authors of the two longest pieces, Nnedi Okorafor (her story is called Crossroads) and James S. Dorr (he wrote a story called Madness).

The Wind Walker

Authors: Tom Chaney and Jack Vincent Jr.
Amazon base price: $12.95

...like a freight train.....
Although the "freight train" line gets old after the first several times it is written, the rest of the book is outstanding. This was probably the fastest read I've ever had-if it weren't for work I'd have finished it in a day. It'll make me think twice about just where I stop to camp this summer when I'm crossing through the Upper Penninsula of MI. The characters in the book spend more time in various stages of naked than in most horror books, but that's alright. A highly recomended book.

A fascinating, gripping tale of horrific suspense
The debut novel of screenwriter Tom Chaney and written with the assistance of Jack Vincent Jr., The Wind Walker is a truly haunting horror story about a beloved American author who journeyed into the deep woods of Northern Michigan to write the greatest tale ever... and was never seen again. Twenty-five years later, his son challenges the land and pursues his own journey in search of inspiration, and finds a more chilling insight than he ever could have imagined. The Wind Walker is highly recommended to fans of the macabre as a fascinating, gripping tale of horrific suspense.

Outstanding first work!
Not my particular genre, but a friend recommended it to me so I thought I'd give it a read. Turned out to be an spectacular, well written piece. I literally couldn't put it down. A well paced book with vivid descriptions and a little indian folklore thrown in. The storyline never skipped a beat as it wound its way to the powerful and climactic finish. Much recommended. Pick up a copy, but be sure you have nothing planned for the day before you start reading it!

Nice Stories, but not much substance.
I did enjoy this book, and there were some really moving stories and some funny stories, but i didn't find it too terribly filling. Honestly, i personally can't say i'd recommend it. The problem i had with it is that it lacks substance. The stories, while are mostly very nice, do not even attempt (for the most part) to tell the Gospel. And (too) many of the stories had themes that were doctrinally and biblically unsound. I am critical only because it is named "Chicken soup for the CHRISTIAN soul." As a book, it does not bring forth a world view that is terribly Christian. I believe a more apt title would have been "Chicken soup for the God-believing soul." Some may not see a difference, but it's definately there...

"Do you still think it's enough just to believe that there is one God? Well, even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror!" James 2:19 (NLT)

I think a MUCH better book is Joni Earickson Tada's "When God Weeps." That book is also quite moving, but it also contains much Godly wisdom, and makes a conscious effort to show what the bible says about life and death and suffering.

A great book that is very inspirational to the reader.
I love your book and i recommend it to anyone who is devoted to Christ and loves to read inspirational stories about things from the Bible.

You gotta buy this book!
I am still reading this but, it has been just as fun to read as all the others I have read. The short stories are good for me and my hectic schedule and short attention span(I am 25 years old and getting better on the attention part). If I need a little laugh, I go to the funny part, and, every section has a different type of short stories in it. Of course, some will make you feel like crying or touch your soul, some will make you giggle or maybe even burst out laughing if you have had the same experience. The "Family Circus" cartoons are light-hearted ways to look at important things as well. You gotta buy this book!

The Price of Victory: A Novel

Fun and entertaining JAG courtroom thriller
If you enjoy the TV program JAG, about military justice, then you'll find "Price of Victory" an absorbing read.

Billy Frazier is a Silver Star beret finishing out his military career in an admin post in Germany. He's a little shady, supplementing his income by selling answers to the German driving test to other soldiers for $20, but otherwise he's just another sergeant on the U.S. base.

His world is shattered when a nutty Lieutenant with a Napoleonic complex - believing that he alone can protect US forces from their naivety about the still evil Soviets - 'phones in a real bomb threat to the Army Base so that he can steal funds to finance his plans.

The lieutenant is caught and convicted to 99 years in Leavenworth. Encouraged by an ambitious prosecutor looking for other successes, he and an accomplice finger Frazier for the Army's biggest drug smuggler in Europe in return for reduced sentences.

The plot is solidly constructed, and the story unfolds with repeated ebbs and flows between the prosecution and the defence.

I enjoyed this book thoroughly and would classify it as excellent airplane, vacation, or other diversionary reading. However, this book does not, in my mind, reach "compelling/must-read" status - it didn't "grab me by the gut" as other courtroom dramas have done - hence I rate it 4 stars rather than 5.

A tremendous military-legal thriller!
A very impressive first novel about the prosecution by the military of a suspected drug dealer whose operations are of a gigantic proportion. A real page-turner with well-drawn characters.
