Presents an autobiographically oriented history
David Pecora's Between The Raindrops blends his keen insights and cogent observations to present an autobiographically oriented history of the twentieth century including key personalities and events in a sweeping survey of war and peace, politics and science, philosophy and economics. Through his own personal experiences, Pecora reveals the impact of love and hate, success and failure, which shaped the panorama of a century on a broader stage, -- and what we might expect in the opening decades of the new millennium. Between The Raindrops is offers engaging, well written, descriptive commentary that is enhanced with a section of period photography and highly recommended reading for the non-specialist general reader with an interest in World War II and twentieth century studies through the perspective of one who lived through "interesting times".

AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY SET AGAINST WORLDWIDE EVENTS
I am really enjoying dipping into the book. I like the way the autobiography is set against events which are going on worldwide; this format is particularly effective during the second world war. Then when the author gets to Ireland romance is brought into the story.

I like the title of the book, "Between the Raindrops", and to sum up, I am finding it interesting reading, though as a layman, I am more taken with the account of the writer's war service than his description of surgical procedures. I hope the book sells well enough to warrant a second edition.

It is facinating.
I treasure this book and intend to circulate it among my friends with my heartfelt endorsement. I was first impressed by the the unique style of rapid fire delivery. The author gets more mileage per page of clear succinct coverage of a variety of items than I have ever witnessed. He is a student of history and can convey medical research in a way to capture my attention though I know nothing about medicine beyond a head cold and aspirin. Psychologically the author's own obserbvations and feelings are clear and organized.

The writer holds to high moral values and ethical standards. His impressions reflected some of my own recollections. I am 84 years old and have warm reflections of the 20's and 40's from the depression through WWII. These reflections are more positive than negative and are that way to this day. Hard times seemed to end in positive results.

My wife and I found difficulty putting the book down. It is facinating.

What an experience!
This masterpiece by Doctor Victor of Hamilton High School is the primary example of what makes modern literature so great. Replete with exciting sequences, surprise twists and turns, rich diction, and tone changes, this mystery book has had a gigantic impact on me. Its eloquent account of the adventures of Holmes and Watson, with their searing downfalls and courageous successes, proves once again that Hamilton High School is the greatest school ever and that Doctor Victor is the best teacher ever. No, I don't need an A (I graduated in 1998); all I want is to pay homage to the great author of the suspensful thriller. Doctor Victor, We remember you and love you. I think this goes for everyone.

The Best!
I'm in Dr. Victor A.P. class and although I haven't read the book the plot and story line sound interesting. I will soon buy the book and add it to my collestion of books which will be a pleasure to have. Get one of the best books of the 20th century. Hey all in the class and to you Dr. Victor! This should be an "A" in the class, don't you think Dr.Victor. Per.3 "01"

One of the greatest books i have never read
Dr. Daniel Victor is one of the greatest authors of the 20th century. His use of diction and syntax in all the right place makes The Seventh Bullet enjoyable to read. Also I am in his AP English class and could really use a good grade in that class. Whatever my fellow classmate Mike said is all true. Casey Per. 3 '01

A great second book for author Alexandria Altman
I really liked reading this book. I have read Alexandria Altman's first book "John Carpenter Speaks Out", also a very good book. Easy to read and to the point. I look forward to reading "Mission Possible" #2 and on. Also I look froward to any other of Ms. Altman's books. I feel we will be seeing her as a bestseller in the near future.

Amazing Book On Success
It is an amazing book. I really like the way that each of the 12 authors shared how they achieved success. It is easy to read and filled with lots of useful information. You can pick it up and read a chapter in 30 minutes and have practical ideas to apply now! It really motivated me to become more successful. Anyone wishing to be more successful should buy this book and apply the principles. I am and it is paying dividends!

Learning from the Masters.
... This is the book for you. Fast-paced interviews with successful individuals can be a great encouragement. Such is the information contained in Mission Possible! Barry Banther's inspirational chapter is worth the price of the book alone. You will have your favorite chapter I am sure. This is truly "on-the-job-training" for living.

Great characters and mystery--royals acting badly
In 1881, Victoria is Queen and Empress and proper British society is at its very height, yet all is not well. Investigator Lord Powerscourt is brought into a strange case involving blackmail of the Prince of Wales himself. England's heir has followed in some of the unfortunate traditions of royalty and his son, Prince Eddy, may be even worse. When Prince Eddy is found dead and the Prince of Wales decides on a cover-up, Powerscourt is called upon to find the killer in a murder that the English Royals simply cannot admit occured.

Author David Dickinson offers a delightful combination of engaging characters (the romance between Powerscourt and Lady Lucy is very well done as is the time-table toting butler) and compelling mystery. As Powerscourt digs deeper into the murder, he finds that Prince Eddy had much to account for and that the list of people with motives is long indeed. Powerscourt's investigative abilities and the reader's enjoyment are enhanced by his insights into society and humanity.

The scandals of the Royals have made history from the days of Shakespear until today. Dickinson reminds us that even in the glory days of the British Empire and Victoria, power and corruption add up to a dangerous combination--dangerous both to the royals themselves, and to everyone who comes in contact with them. GOODNIGHT SWEET PRINCE is a joy to read.

Highly Recommended.

fascinating and captivating reading
If you're looking for a good historical mystery that is evocative of the Victorian period with all it's dark, horrific secrets and that takes a look at the highhandedness as well as the dissolute weakness of the British monarchy, look no further: "Goodnight, Sweet Prince" reflects all this in spades. While not the kind of mystery novel that is full of twists and turns and red herrings, I found myself absolutely glued to the pages as I read along as the detective of this novel, Lord Francis Powerscourt, tried to unmask the murderer of Prince Eddy, eldest son to the Prince of Wales, and uncover a motive behind the killing.

It's 1892 (and the 54th year of Queen Victoria's reign) when Prince Eddy is discovered murdered in his bed (he has been stabbed over and over again and died with a smile on his face) at Sandringham (the royal country house). His father, the Prince of Wales, immediately orders a cover-up, and the story is put out that the Prince had died of influenza instead. But the Prince of Wales also insists that his son's death be investigated and avenged. Lord Francis Powerscourt, a special investigator who had been initially called on to discover who was trying to blackmail the Prince of Wales, is now asked to investigate the murder instead. How was so audacious a crime carried out? Why didn't the Prince call out for help? And who wanted him dead? These are the questions that Lord Francis has to ask himself as he begins his investigation. The suspects are many and diverse, and include anyone from the anarchists to the Prince of Wales himself, who was furious at Prince Eddy for his scandalous and dissolute behaviour. And as Lord Francis follows the wispy path of gossip and innuendo, he begins to uncover such a trail of scandal and vice that even makes this very decent man begin to question what he is doing.

The great thing about this novel is the manner in which the plot unfolds. Davidson takes his time to set the stage -- the murder of the prince does not take place until a quarter way into the book -- but by that time he has drawn a picture of the two dissolute and arrogant princes, intent on their own pleasure, and with very little care for the feelings of others, as well as given a very good idea of the kind of person the chief investigator, Lord Francis Powerscourt, is. We see how early tragedy has touched Lord Francis's life, and how this has made him especially sensitive to the pain and sorrow in others. The pacing of this novel is flawless, and the manner in which Davidson 'fleshes' out his characters in absolutely brilliant -- with a few well chosen words and phrases, you'd swear that the very characters themselves have come alive in front of you. "Goodnight, Sweet Prince" is an extremely well written book, that however may not be everyone cup of tea since it deals with the scandalous and imperious behavior of royal family members that may offend some readers, esp if their royalists. But it would be a shame however to give this excellent book a miss, because it is an extremely fun read.

Architectural Lighting
This is an excellent book. It provides a comprehensive overview while supplying specific design applications on the topics of natural and electric lighting. It illuminates many technologies and design principles with straight forward language and clear reinforcing graphics.
I teach architectural lighting at the School of Architecture at the University of Hawaii. I have reviewed many lighting books for this class and have found the Egan and Olgyay text to be very appropriate for the beginning and advanced student as well as a very useful desk reference for design proessionals.

Anatomy Meets Technology in a Most Fascinating Way
I own the paperback version of this book, and it is a wealth of anatomical information. First of all, I can tell all of my friends that I have a dead body in my library. But aside from the obvious humor I can get from owning this book, this is a truly wonderful work of computer and photographic technology. To have a visual reference of an entire human body is not only informative and fascinating, but useful for medical students, writers, forensic specialists, or just the plain curious.

The book details an entire human body in a series of 1-mm thick slices from head to toe. There are three distinct views: Transverse, or a horizontal slice; Coronal, or a vertical slice from side-to-side; And Sagittal, or a vertical slice front-to-back. Each left-hand page features a close-up of a featured slice and a legend indicating where on the body the slice is located, and each right-hand page features 12 slices in smaller photos, each numbered in sequence so you can follow the path of organs and other bodily features.

Without this book, the only way you could find something more like a cadaver is in the local morgue. I recommend this book highly.

Excellent Modern Treatment of an Ancient Subject
This superb, broad collection of detailed papers on ancient Eastern Central Asia is fascinating for anyone interested in the subject. Though presented for professionals in the field, virtually every paper is intelligible to the lay person, opening new horizons for anyone interested in the history of this region. Exceptionally well-edited, with chapters covering archeology, migration and nomadism, linguistics, genetics and physical anthropology, metallurgy, textiles, geography and climatology, history, mythology and ethnology, a long overdue comprehensive treatment of this subject is finally at hand. Every contributor to the two-volume set should be pleased with this phenomenal achievement. Persons interested in many diverse topics, such as Zoroastrian studies, history of the Fergana Valley, or Tocharian linguistics, will still find many papers of interest, whether treated as separate subjects or not. Outstanding!

Great Biography for Elementary Students
This biography of Charles Lindbergh is especially good for younger readers. It covers the span of his life from boyhood in Minnesota to his death in Hawaii. The book gives children an idea of why he began to fly and what drove him to achieve all that he did. It briefly covers the baby kidnapping, in only a few paragraphs and without much detail, but enough information for the younger children. It also covers his service to our country during WWII. This book was my 3rd grader's Biography Project and was very useful.
