Right on Target
With so much to absorb in so few hours during the day, this beautiful book allows us to glean the jewels from ACIM and immediately receive the full benefits of its purpose--a gift of peace and healing with generous reassurances of love. It is thoughtfully compiled and offers delightful food for thought for so many of us that are short on time, but still long for spiritual sustenance. I plan to include it on my holiday gift list for friends and family. Peace

A great distillation of the Course's main message
I found the Course to be too dense. This, however, is just right. It has all the essential truth in a much easier to digest form.

Thank You Marianne and company,

Daniel

Wonderful.
I'm not a serious student of ACIM, but have a passing familiarity from the books and tapes of Marianne Williamson and others. This volume, which I found purely by accident (are there accidents?), is a beautiful collection of quotes from the course. Reading it serially, or picking it up and opening to any page leaves one with a true sense of peace. I would absolutely recommend it for those who find the full text of the Course too much to take on.

Shadows of the Sacred: Seeing Through Spiritual Illusions

Ms. Vaughan does it again
Riding on the coat tails of the Inward Arc, this book takes shadow work to another level. Ms. Vaughan is by far the best in the field of transpersonal psychology. This is a must have book for ALL transpersonal psychologist and transpersonal psychology classes.

Belongs Right Next to "The Road Less Travelled"
At least once a month a psychotherapy client or a student in a clinical psychology graduate program asks me what to read for a psychologically sophisticated approach to spirituality. Without hesitation I always tell them about Frances Vaughan's "Shadows of the Sacred," a work of such wisdom, warmth, and practicality that, after they read it, they'll probably want to see her for therapy. Vaughan's knowledge of both depth psychology and spiritual traditions is breathtaking. There's no wholly-headed New Age thinking here. This work belongs right next to Scott Peck's "The Road Less Travelled." It will be meaningful to men and women in all walks of life who are searching for the greater life they sense is possible.

A guidebook that points out the potholes in the road !!
I think that religion is an attempt to explain why the world is the way it is in an oversimplified fashion, inherent with limitations. For a critical thinker, this oversimplified version is simply not satisfactory, so we search for universal truths to satisfy our need for greater understanding, but unfortunately there are many pitfalls possible on that search, and this book does a great job of pointing many of them out............a must read for anyone on such a path.....for me it was a great book to read after book I Conversations with God...by Walsch.......

A Great Guide to Intuition
Having read several books on intuition, I believe that Frances Vaughan's book is the all encompassing guide on intuition. The author describes intuition at all levels of human experience and is the only text that I have come across that is able to truly describe a complex subject in a manner that is relatively easy to understand. I have owned this book for several years and everytime I read it, I gain some additional insight into this important faculty of the mind. I encourage the reader to read the book several times since every additional attempt will enhance their intuitive capability.

Quotes from the Course
This book is a compilation of quotes from A COURSE IN MIRACLES. The "Course" is a three volume set of books that comprise a curriculum of self-study psychotherapy.

Interspersed with the beautiful quotes from the Course are equally beautiful black-and-white photographs of inspiring nature scenes. This book also includes a forward by Marianne Williamson, author of A RETURN TO LOVE.

The reason I give this book only four stars is because I have a personal "qualm" about taking quotes from the Course out of context. My opinion is that the Course is a completely integrated thought system, and it is a thought system that often says things that we do not want to hear (for example, the teaching that God did not make the world, but that the world was made by the ego "as an attack on God" [Workbook, p. 403]). What often results from taking passages from the Course out of context is that the true meaning is lost and the Course can be turned into a "dual" thought system, whereas it is truly a non-dual thought system.

WATCH IT!
Better watch out right here. I have read a whole bunch of books in my life, and this one can Change Your Life! Read it, mark the particular lines that speak to you, type those out and MEMORIZE them. Then repeat your list aloud every day until they become part of who you are. Then, my friend, you will be well on the way to becoming who your were designed to be. Overstated? Exaggerated? You just try it and see...
