As with all Vassi's works, choreographed by G-d, the book tells of the dance as beautifully as it was lived. His writing is as pretty and deep as is his face, his mind and his soul. Taste it and wisdom, if you are ready, will flow all about you, through you, from you, to you.

This is a good book, although it needs some updating and editing. Come to think of it alot of Lee's books do. Nonetheless, there are many pearls of wisdom, and I would argue this is one of his better books. Why a living teacher and not a dead one? The do's and don'ts of spiritual practice, there is plenty of good advice here. "Dead Guru's can't kick it!" How true, although I believe Franklin Jones was the originator of the expression. Unfortunately, Franklin was a little too literal with that one. There are plenty of original revelations here though. Reactional Enquiry is a humorous, adaptation of Ramana Maharishi's question; "Who am I?" Now, It is: "Who am I kidding ! Order this book, Don't kid yourself this is a 3000% Potent Teaching. I'd Love to see a Millenial revised and updated postmodern cutting edge cover. Maybe with Sri Yogi Ramsuratkumar on the cover(Hint)!

As in most erotic literature, the key fantasy here is that the main character has the time, the means, the inclination, the moral turpitude and the physical stamina to seek self-discovery through gross sexual excess. Readers who are willing to accept that premise and don't mind an effusive style will find this book original and engaging. Although the hero's search has dated, Age-of-Aquarius overtones, the hero himself is a believable and complex character. His mood swings and meditations are brilliantly evoked; they infuse the erotic content with uncharacteristic feeling.

In 'Contours of Darkness' Vassi goes where many authors fear to tread; he explores what happens inside people's heads when they are having sex. Markeketed as 'erotica' this is more about people searching for meaning in a world whose citizens cannot take off their masks. The tools used by the character's in their search for love and meaning are sex and hallucinogens. Vassi is brave in describing what people are thinking while engaged in sex, not only naked physically, but with their masks of inauthenticity removed temporarily by hallucinogens. The quality of the writing is variable and clumsy at times but the content is dynamite. The best of Vassi, by far, read by this reviewer, this book is certainly not pornographic. A cult vision, that will linger in your mind for some time.

Mr Vassi spends the second half of this book praising American bathhouse culture, and telling how being half drowned in excrement and sperm leads to the ultimate intellectual and political freedom. A few years later he was dead of Aids. What sort of freedom is that? And how many half-witted thrill seekers who were persuaded by his so-called philosophical brilliance paid the same dreadful price?

Marco Vassi, who died of AIDS in 1989, was/is the most important sexual philosopher of the last 25 years. The Eroic Comedies -- a newly edited version of his previously released "Metasex Manifesto" -- is a collection of short stories and essays unlike you've ever read. (Unfortunately, a short story called "Pray On Me" from the original was not inlcuded, no doubt because it was so politically incorrect it would have certainly been denounced by the Vatican.) Nonetheless, a story entitled "The Organic Copraphiliac" remains. It is an erotic classic that 25 years later still leaves readers speechless or convulsed in laughter. There are also essays expanding on his philosophy of "meta-sexuality" (not straight, not gay, not bi) and argues for a better understanding of the human spirit and human sexuality, overall. Vasi's coolest book.

I expected so much from this book. Instead, I get "I did this, and here's what I thought about it. Then I did this, then that" ad nauseam. One might expect this from an auto biography, but not in such stilted writing. And did I mention the over-analysis of every situation. Mr. Vassi, I realize you are dead, but I ask, do we really care? While the content (sex/drugs/mysticism) made me yearn for an era I missed, for the most part, I felt like I was dragged along on a bad trip. Don't hide the pain and ugliness, but please, make the good times more enjoyable.

OK the cover says that the author has established himself as an intrepid explorer of an uncharted sexual landscape ......

I'd say

Matter of fact it's uncharted cause no one wants to go there. It's a very disjointed story with seeming witty and trite expressions interspersed throughout the book .... obviously not my style of book or erotica ....
