One hell of a southern Italian joy-ride! Joycean in all respects with a dash of Kafka to excite the soul!

This novel takes place at the turn of the century, involving the trial of a Sicilian politician who is accused of ordering a murder, as a mafioso. The book works on several levels, not least of which, for the American reader, is its portrayal of the Sicilian Mafia from the point of view of an Italian writer. It is a more complex phenomenon than presented by the Hollywood prototype most familiar to American audiences. The story itself also shows the differences between how the Mafia is seen by both the Northern Italian and the Sicilian, a factor which appears to have made the book somewhat controversial in Italy. A different kind of crime novel with an Italian atmosphere.

People trying to artsy about their memories of Vespa's, it's a non-electric yawn machine...pass it by.

Yes, boring guy is right. If you've never been on a real vespa, or is you've only driven one on the freeway in Houston, this may be boring, but anyone who's ever taken to the road on a proper bike will love the photos alone. It chronicals a lifestyle and trying to advertise for something that everyone's already doing is easy. Indispensibly cool when trying to explain to people what you ride.

I don't know what that other review is all about. If you own a vespa you'll love this. TONS of old ads, calendars, factory shots etc give a great overview of the vespa legend.
