Gardening!
I like that book on Mrs. Spitzer's Garden and I gave it to my grade 5 teacher from 1999 & 2000 named Mrs. Laureen Murphy for her husband for christmas!

I like gardening and this book.

Mrs. Spitzer's Garden-a hit at our house!
Cute, cute, cute. This is a darling book with delightful illustrations. The flowers have faces, which fascinate our 2 year old. She just loves it. It's colorful and cheerful and a real delight to read. It's one of the first ones she chooses to read before bedtime. A great book for toddlers and parents too!

Teachers, you must start the year with this book!
What a joy to read! The illustrations are beautiful and add details to the reading. It's summertime and the principal gives Mrs. Spitzer some seeds to plant in her garden. She does all the right things and up come the sprouts. Plants and children--a wonderful analogy of what goes on in a classroom during the year. Teachers, you can't miss making the text-to-self connections. Kids love to hear this book too.

WONDERFUL
This is a heartwarming book that would make a great gift for anyone working with children, especially children who are sick. It is a touching and very approprite way to handle a difficult subject.

children creating wonderful art out of adversity
This is an amazingly original book in a storybook format and incorporates actual artwork done by children being treated at the MD Anderson Hospital. Their artwork is not only delightful but inspiring for all people not only those in a lifethreatening battle to return to wellness.

Absolutely heartfelt!
I have read this book over and over again, not only because it is a good book, but because I know the author personally and I know that the character Maebelle was based on my great-grandmother Mabelle. It is a special treat to find it a popular book among young children because it makes me proud because I know what kind of woman she was and how she is able to touch hearts of young people even though she is no longer here.

Wistful and upbeat
A great book. As usual, Ms. Tusa's illustrations are beautiful and alive. The love between the little bird and Maebelle is deep and instructive to us all. The basic message--that we have to give up certain things in order to move on with our lives--is sadly uplifting.

Adorable, quirky, and smart.
This is one of my favorite children's books. While it does teach the wisdom of being open to new people and experiences, it doesn't feel at all preachy. Instead, it's lively, colorful, and fun. It's one of those books that adults will like as much as the kids.

Learning that being different is okay.
This beautifully illustrated book teaches the lesson that you can't always believe what others say about people who look or act "different". A girl visitng her aunt in a small Texas town learns that lesson and passes it along to all of the other residents. A must for "pig lovers". One of Ms. Tusa's best books.

Great pro-veggie and pro-animal title!
Perfect for the fledgling gardener, this sturdy board book teaches toddlers about vegetables, colors and gardening in simple language. Bright illustrations with rabbits on every page "helping" Andy with his garden (and getting very fat!) A good first book for short attention spans.

For the whole family!
My husband is Jewish, but I and my son are not, so as we celebrated Hanukkah this year, we wanted to get a book that would be interesting to everyone. We originally found the book at the library. It is wonderful book and has everything we were looking for: music (Hannukah songs and the tunes for the blessings), poems, stories, recipes, games and of course the Blessings with the words in both English and Hebrew. The illustrations are colorful and really reflect the joy of Hanukkah. We liked it so much that we purchased it so that we can make it a part of our Hanukkah tradition.

Miranda: A story, about growing up, set to music.
Miranda plays the piano for everyone else until one day she hears a special kind of music she really "needs" to play just for herself. In the end, everybody wins... just the way it should be.
