Why is it good: The Mental Edge provides the clearest and most comprehensive program for developing metal training routines that can/will improve performance. And if you are good at some endeavor - you have already learned the base skills needed -- from there on it is mental. Again, of all the books (too many) on trying to understand and develop procedures .. this is the best
The all too common flaw: The constant digressions regarding annecdotes and exhortations of "you can if you only believe." The content is great but in many cases the presentation would embarrass Shirly McLain.
Nonetheless, I would encourage anyone with a sports objective to read (grit their way through). The specific recomendations are again the best compilation and application of mental training I know of
Anyways, I found this book that someone had left behind on an airplane in the pocket. I was with my team returning from a tournament. It's too bad that we didn't have this book PRIOR to the tourney! I'm certain that we'd have had a different reult. At any rate, I'm looking forward to the following season -- so is my team....I bought them each a book!
Mr. Baum, if you ever read this, thank you very much. I can already see the renewed enthusiasm from my team. I think you've made a world of difference in not just the sporting life, but also the everyday lives of many you may never have the chance to meet.
...and for the person who left this behind, thank you very much. I'm sure you did so by accident, and if you contact me at my above email address, I'd be happy to return a NEW book to you. I may even buy you the audio tapes. :O]

I was hopeful because I have read many books and tried almost all suggestions. I felt like a complete fool sitting in my room tapping on my body in various spots while at the same time humming tunes and counting aloud from 1 to 5. Well it sure doesn't cure blushing but it did give me a laugh of how silly I must have looked and how gulible I feel now for purchasing this book. I'm really glad that it worked for others - either my problem can't be helped with this method or this method just doesn't work on me. Good luck to others!!
To comment on Mr. Kansky's review, the books he recommended and other similar ones were written by people who either didn't study with Dr. Callahan or who studied with him years ago, and are not up to date on the latest findings in TFT. For people who want state-of-the-art, top of the line TFT, my advice is to read Tapping the Healer Within and also another recent book of Dr. Callahan's, Stop the Nightmares of Trauma. My advice to people is don't miss out on the latest findings by reading books written by people who are not up to date with Dr. Callahan's very recent work.
The procedures in Tap the Healer within have a long track record of success with thousands of people. It is understandable if people are skeptical -- I certainly expect them to be as I was myself in the beginning -- but the good thing about this book is that it gives the reader all the instructions necessary to try the procedures and make a first-hand judgment of their effectiveness.
As a psychotherapist, I have now been practicing TFT for four years and even though I have trained in other innovative treatment approaches, I have not found anything that compares with the kind of results I am able to achieve with Callahan TFT, on a regular, very predictable basis.

It is amazing how most of the stories revolve around John Bonham who, unfortunately, is not around to contradict these stories. There is no real insight to the band that most people did not know prior to Cole writing this book.
Equally amazing is how Cole begins to speak as a member of the band using the word "We" like he played an instrument or contributed something to the success of Led Zeppelin.
Do yourself a favor and use the money to buy another Zep' CD...it is money much better spent than on this garbage!
The problem with this book is that it is written by man who was with Led Zeppelin mostly during tours. There is not much about life between touring, during recording sessions etc. Also towards the end of the book the story concentrates more to author and his personal problems than to what happened in band.
Thing that really bothered me in this book were women and how they were treated. It is easy to understand that there were lots of girls who were willing to do anything for the band and the members of the circus that toured with them, but I don't find it very amusing to read how perverse people Richard and Co really were and what they did to underage girls. Also including frequent stories throughout the book about destroying hotel rooms have no point. Maybe meaning of those stories is to show how rowdy band Led Zeppelin really was.
Even though I have criticized some parts of this book I liked it more than I hated it. The text is easy to read and other reviewers were right about it being hard to put down once you've begun to read. Led Zeppelin and Richard Cole were not nice people to have around if you lived in the same hotel as they did but LZ was and is still one of the greatest rock groups ever (even with their faults and behaviour). One must remember that they hardly ever let their fans down during concerts. A thing that can't be said about bands today.
I would have enjoyed a deeper look into who the members of Zeppelin really were. But you never achieve that with this book. What you see, is what Richard was made privy to. And I don't believe it was much. That most of what you do see, is the drunken escapades, tells me a drunken escapade is what it took for the band to allow him into their circle. Drunkeness or a crisis.
I don't doubt Cole's affection for the band. This shows through in the writing. But I do doubt the overall accuracy of the picture.
Still, as someone who was born in 1971, this book really did help me to better understand a group I've long admired, albeit after the fact. But I'll keep reading, with hopes of seeing the entire picture.

The book provided some decent information at best, but when I got to page 80? and realized the book was over, I didn't feel very good and I certainly didnt need 125+ pages of addresses of schools I have no need to call or no desire to call..
matching a player's talent with a particular school program. He encourages readers not to overlook the Division two and three schools, offering a number of personal stories of players who went on to have successful professional careers. This is a comprehensive book that offers many insights for the prospective college sports recruit. It is highly recommended for the prospective high school recruit and to the parents of the recruit.

Above all, the book is great fun. Mr. Arkoff is a master storyteller, and is as amazed at his own success as anyone else. I couldn't recommend the book any higher. By the way, the movie mentioned in the title is MUSCLE (not "music") BEACH PARTY.
