This is a great book, with lots of "REAL-LIFE" advice. And let's face it, there's lots advice given to us by friends who mean well, and REAL advice given by those who have been there. This book will help you, even if you choose NOT to leave. It deals with the real world as it is, and what a woman needs to think about most during a time she where she may not feel up to thinking. Where are you going to leave to? How are you going to support yourself, your children? This books helps you deal with the real nitty-gritty hard questions.

As a victim of divorce and reviewer of this book, I believe a better title would be "Learning to Deceive".

I first read this very straight forward, helpful book more than seventeen years ago, when I knew I had to leave my marriage in order to save my sanity and be an effective parent to my children, ages 17 and 13. The information contained in Learning To Leave, finally gave me the courage to do what was necessary to end the emotional abuse we lived with on a daily basis. This book was my guide, my strength, my power, when I felt very weak and afraid. Even after my divorce, it's messages have remained with me and enriched other areas of my life. This book is a must for anyone contemplating leaving a relationship. Read it, even if you have to do so under cover. It just may save your life!

I bought this book many years ago, when my kids where 4 and 8, I was able to plan, save, and leave a man without incidence who was abusive and threatning. I was able to leave in safety with my childen using my head and not my heart. My sons are now 17 and 21 and very happy and healthy. Since I left, I have received my Bachelors and Masters Degree and own a very successful consulting firm. I got out before my boys turned into men like their father. Thank You Lynette!
