Great for Problem Solving!
I am a third grade teacher, and my students love this book! I put a new mystery on the wall outside the classroom door each week. Every schoolday, I have my students trying to problem solve before they ever enter the room. Parents are challenged by these pictures too. At the end of the week, we have a great class discussion on the possibilities to solve these puzzles. I wish there were more than 2 titles to this series!

I like this book
I really liked this book because it was really interesting. I liked the bright pictures. I've read it more than once because I like it so much.

Puzzles for savvy sleuths
Picking up from where he strayed, Lawrence Treat uses clever drawings and witty prose to befuddle the amateur sleuth in this third in his series. His is an excellent series of books that can be adapted for detectives of many ages-- I know because I use them with my students.

Some of the puzzles require good observation, others require sharp wits, and all put a lethally grand combination of pictures and storylines that are fun to read and solve. The questions at the end of each story point sleuths in the right direction.

The best!
Very concise, covering a large number of conditions with information about clinical features, diagnosis and treatment... just the best medical book for students, residents and general prationers.

Must have!
It is VERY nice book. Especially for medical students and residents.
You can understand from detail to basic of diseases. With this book, you know how to approach and make your list of differential diagnosis.
I worked for infectious disease patients for a while, and this book was very useful because you can get the general knowledge not only about infectious diseases but also general internal medicine, skin lesions, bone diseases, and so on. I especially recommend the chart of antibiotics(Chart 37). I like this book because we can also get the update etiology of diseases. So nice.

Excellent Medicine Book
This is a "must have" text for any student of medicine. It has all the information one needs for ward rounds, presentations, and exams. Medicine is an ever-evolving field and this book keeps up with all the latest developments. The references are conveniently given at the end of each section so the student can easily look up the most relevant articles. I especially like the "Essentials of Diagnosis" that precedes each disease entity and summarizes the key points. However this book is very much clinical/management-oriented. It does not have pictures/slides nor does it cover pathophysiology (for that, Harrison's is a better book).

Good fun for teenagers
Lawrence Treat presents 23 (not 24 as the book's cover claims) pictures of crime scenes and invites the reader to solve the crimes. To aid the reader, Treat presents lists of questions that more often than not make the solution obvious. Still, the book represents an hour or two worth of mental exercise, and the reader is of course under no obligation to read the questions that may telegraph the solutions. For an inquisitive and mentally-active teenager, this book might be a great deal of fun. The most significant criticism of the book is that in a few cases, Treat relies on probabilities that are not close enough to certainties. In other words, at times the solution depends upon one or two educated guesses that could very well be wrong. However, as an exercise in deductive thinking, reading the book should provide a young adult with an afternoon well spent. (The twenty-fourth puzzle is not a crime to be solved but instead a pair of pictures in which the reader is to find the differences between the two.)

Entertaining
Murder on the Aisle Four mystery stories entitled "It Was Bad Enough", narrated by Ron Goulart, "Snookered", narrated by Gerald Tomlinson, "The Waste Pile at Apple Bow", narrated by Joan Richter, and "A Slip of the Lip" narrated by Lawrence Treat. We listen to audio tapes in the car on vacations, and this is a very good one for that purpose because each is short enough to keep your interest yet long enough to make the miles go by quickly.
