First women to fly for a Major US Airline, tells all.
Bonnie Tiburzi was the first women to pilot for a major US airline - which excludes smaller airlines and foreign carriers. Still a major achievement. She started off, as most pilots did at that time, serving as the flight engineer in a crew of three (most modern planes now have only a crew of two - both pilots) on an American Airlines 727. As the first woman, she endured much ribbing, and not just a few instances of more overt male chauvanism. the book follows her to flight academy, and charts a failed marriage to another pilot and her ultimate furlough. Though making the grade at American was a substantial achievement, the book feels painfully unfinished.
