Everbuddy Needs a Good Buddy
The story of the life and times of William ("Bill for short") Sackter is as remarkable and inspiring as any in American history. Bill's story is re-told by his good friend Professor Thomas Walz (now retired from the social work department of the University of Iowa) in such sharp, believable detail as even to go so far as to write the majority of the book from Bill's point of view, using the sort of speech, broken perhaps but very gripping, as Bill had used; this aspect brings a great deal of accuracy to the book. The Bible says in I Thessalonians 5 to rejoice always and to give thanks in all circumstances. Bill Sackter took these principles to the extreme, and as a result, made everyone who knew him take a much closer look at themselves and the world around them. His life still has that effect on people today.

I'm not going to say here what all happened in Bill's life; the book will do a much better job of that than I. However, I will simply say that this book will open your eyes to an incredible sense of optimism little known in the world we live in today. I can't imagine someone reading this book and being disappointed.

One thing more: for those of you who have seen and loved the movies "Bill" and "Bill On His Own" (which have been out of print for who-knows-how-many-years), they are available from the very good people at Wild Bill's Coffee Shop at the University of Iowa.

I Get by with a Little Help from my Friends
This book is a love feast. Story after story of Bill and the "frens" who were fortunate enough to be a part of Bill's circle, including the regulars on the bus who were cheerfully greeted upon boarding, the day care children who had a happy transition from parents dropping them off for day care, the nice lady prostitutes who enjoyed his happy harmonica tunes when he was in Washington, DC to be honored for his achievements. Not only does the book make you glad to know about Bill's magnificent gift of loving, it gives hints about how to nurture that in life. The book is for everyone who celebrates the great diversity of gifts that make life wonderful

An inspiring story, beautifully written
This uplifting story will appeal to anyone who is interested in how the human spirit overcomes great adversity. It is also of local interest to residents of Iowa City, as it recaps events that happened in this town and on this campus. A thoroughly enjoyable read that I would highly recommend.

great story
I thought that this book was great. I am not a reader of mystery, but purchased this book in its original hardcoer back in 1983. I wanted to solve the case, but never did. I have since miss placed my copy and would love to find another. If anyone can help please do. I could not put this book down, I know I read it at least 10 times, trying to solve it time after time. If I had a copy, now I'm sure that the mind of a 30 yr old is better than the mind of 14 yr old(as I was) when I first read this wonderful book. Any info on obtaining a copy, would be welcom, my e-mail is ladydraak @webtv.net.

Amazing! I couldn't put it down!
I've just read this book for the first time. It took me all of two hours. I REALLY want to know who killed the Robins family. Anyone who can help is perfectly free to write me. PLEASE!

Excellent sleuthing and good memory needed.
I read this book when it first came out. I never learned who killed the Robins Family. I did enter the contest and sent for the answer, but changed address. I heard that two women who put their heads together solved the case. kalay

a beautiful book
Brother Thomas Bezanson ,originally from Nova Scotia, is one of the great potters working in cermaics today. His work is notable in its use of color, resembling texture and color used in both China and Japan. He works in porcelin, and now lives and works in Erie, Pa.,not a noted hotbed of the arts. He was formely assocaited with the celebrated Monks of Weston Priory in Vermont. His work is easily accesible, and is on display in the Boston museum, among other places. This book, with its luxurious photos show the depth of the color that Brother Thomas achieves, the deep blends that have become his signature .Tea bowls, plates, vases all are lovingly illustated in beautiful full 4 color photographs. In this volume,he shows his deep indebtedness to the japanese and chinese artist who have preceeded him. Also his story is told along with his progress as an artist, and one can see, as a man. This is a beautiful book, lavishly illustarted which tells Br Thomas history along with the history of the pieces. Excellent, worth the cost and effort.

Creation Out of Clay
I found this book very enjoyable and uplifting. The writings of Brother Thomas and the photographs of his art work are exceptional. This is a book I recommend to any artist or anyone who enjoys man at his creative best.

Understanding the power of the unconscious on daily life
Dr.DeGregorio traces marvelous historical parallel between President Thomas Jefferson and Bill Clinton while also illustrating from clinical case studies ("diagnostic existential interviews"). What shines through is a love for his patients and subjects and the desire to allow them to discover the oppportunity for happiness. DeGregorio's analysis of the Clinton-Lewinsky matter sheds a new light on some of the unconcious or partially conscious motivations that led to the affair. Some readers might find this hard accept or understand. Occasionally the author's leaps from psychoanlytic insight to interpretations may seem unclear to some readers. All in all a fascinating, thought-provoking read that helps make a fair case of how psychoanlysis can offer deeper insights into our existential situations and thus, eventually, the potential for deeper contentment -- perhaps even happiness -- to emerge.

This Book Might Scare You Straight Into Analysis
Want to know what sex, dreams, and sprained knees have in common? Want to understand the unconscious psychodramas that ignited when Bill's coatsleeve touched Monica's breast? If you can handle a little home truth with your voyeurism, this book should not be missed. Read it if you ever took sides in the Clinton impeachment affair that split the American psyche. Read it if you ever wondered why Thomas Jefferson had sex and children with his teenage slave. Read it if you ever were ambushed by your own passions and lived to wonder why. This book is a gift of love. Buy it, read it, pass it on.

Great
I didn't know much about Windsor Chairs, and now probably won't find much more than is here in this book.

Very interesting
This book on the Windsor style was an easy-to-read reference on identifying Windsors. Other books on the subject are simply too "heavy" for enjoyment. The Windsor Style in America both enjoyable to read and very informative. I feel that it is an excellent resource for both collectors and those who simply enjoy antiques.

Like a little boy's (or girl's!) wish list!
"Big and Noisy" is my two-and-a-half year-old son's version of a security blanket right now. He loves the book, loves making the sounds of the machinery, and takes the book everywhere he goes. I didn't realize how much he'd absorbed until a couple of weeks ago, when we took a trip through a section of interstate that was under construction. He could name EVERY piece of heavy machinery that we passed! A very fun book for this toddler age!

excellent book
I first learned about circuit analysis about 10 years ago though one course at college. This book was great for refreshing my memory and helping to finally see the simplicity in Op-Amps. I recommend this book for non-electrical engineers who have jobs that require some electrical engineering.

Right for me!
I am doing a course in Circuit Analysis so I bought this book to supplement my course notes(got this book for about 2 months now.). The book really helped me by giving me clear explainations of concepts and details that were not emphasized by my lecturers. The prose used in the book is very formal unlike my course notes(,which gives everything in point form). There are no jokes or small stories on the margin of the pages(it would be good if they had some...to make it more interesting). The book may bore you if you are reading for pleasure LoL!. The examples are great, by the way.

The book is superb. But I would love it if the authors made me feel more at home by including jokes, quotes or stories. Or included some real life situations. I intend to get another book to go with this.

One of the Best books
If you are in Electronics this is the one to get. It has a good detailed explanation.
