This is the most inspiring leadership book I've read in 2 or 3 years. It deserves a place along side the very best leadership books of today, even Douglas McGregor's The Human Side of Enterprise or John Gardner's On Leadership. In short, Tead finds the words to describe the very highest aspirations of leaders. Tead is a true believer that leadership (to paraphrase FDR) is a moral cause. To summarize the book, Tead argues that character and values do matter in leadership. As far as the book's age (it was published in 1935), I would say that the last third of the book (where Tead deals with sexual politics in the workplace) shows the greatest signs of being outdated. But the rest of this book is terrific and deserves a place in anyone's leadership library. Books like this do not come around very often.
