Recommend it
Fantastic Story in High Energy. Wished it didn't end. Laughed out loud.

Definitely Non-Linear!
HIGH ENERGY - Zanita Masterson, reporter for a small-town newspaper owned by her grandpa, is tired of the brainless assignments she's given and wants to get something with more pizazz. So she goes to sign up for a psychic healing class thinking to do a story on it and ends up in a physics class instead. (Zanita can't spell.) The instructor is none other than world-reknowned Tyberius Augustus Evans, hunk extraordinaire'. He sees Zanita and he's hooked. Zanita and Tyber are two people with a mission...Zanita to get her story and Tyber to get Zanita. ONly Zanita has sworn off men. A light and amusing story. The secondary characters are terrific...Zanita's friend "Mills" is a babe in her own right and we meet a possible match for her, but Zanita's "Auntie" is the star, with three hats and an attitude. I can't tell you enough good things about it. Read it!

Awesome DVD, beautiful book!
This book will take you back to Burning Man but it's the DVD that I want to rave about. Watch it over and over. Beautifully done. A wonderful effort. Thanks to Holly and thanks to Bam Bam!

Full-color visuals and personal memories
Based on the images of Holly Kreuter, Drama In The Desert: The Sights And Sounds Of Burning Man is a book and DVD set collecting full-color visuals and personal memories drawn from the harsh desert of Black Rock City, Nevada. Capturing the sometimes quizzical, sometimes cruel, sometimes dramatic art and documentary efforts of seventy contributors, Drama In The Desert is strongly recommended as an eclectic, unique, and vibrant experience impressing its fiery artistic message upon the reader's spirit.

So great I bought 7 copies for gifts and one for myself!
I bought your book for my son's 22nd birthday. He loved the book so much that I bought myself a copy. Last weekend I watched the DVD and was amazed at how beautiful the photography and music is. I went to Burning Man for the past two years and the experience has completely changed my life. I get inspired by the creativity of all the beautiful people that work so hard to make it the greatest art show in the world. I decided to share my experiences with my relatives this Christmas by sending them all Drama in the Desert as presents, so I ordered another six copies. Thank you for everything. You are an amazing group of artists.

Beautiful illustrations and whirling-twirling text!
My daughter (18 months) loves this book and its vibrant illustrations. I read the simple text with rolling excitement and she follows the dancing baby right to the end. Very simple and very sweet.

Brings smiles and glee
My seven month old lights up every time we read Baby Dance. She delights in the illustrations and "talks" along with the words. This is definitely her favorite book.

A hit with us both
My 11-month-old loves this book because of the short, rhythmic lines, the colorful pictures, the easily-identified cat, and because her father dances with her just as the father in the book does. I love it because it's short, catchy, and I can read it fifteen times in a row without going crazy.

Great Easter book for children!
This was a great book, that kind of snuck in Jesus amongst the animals, for children who will argue with you about reading another book about Jesus. This book touched me, too.

Feminism and Motherhood in Germany, 1800-1914
Ann Taylor Allen has contributed greatly to our understanding of the role of women in 19th Century Germany. Her Feminism and Motherhood in Germany 1800-1914 offers tremendous insight into the mother-child relationships of that time. This information is of special value to those of us who are involved in researching the beginnings of the Kindergarten. As we find ourselves in the year 2000, it is important that we not loose sight of the centuries which have recently passed. Thanks to the work of Ann Taylor Allen, we are reminded of those times in a detailed and delightful way.

Recess Rhymes

This book would definitely make a great gift...
Books are a great gift for young readers. Reading to children improves reading skills and cultivates a love of reading. Children who read, often grow up to do better at what they do. Most kids have too much television in their lives. Television is not a good substitute for reading. It's important to stimulate, not stifle a child's imagination!

I had a great time reading, "Recess Rhymes," by Sharon Johnson. The poems are not too long and are well written, perfect for a child's attention span. There are so many good poems, it's difficult to pick a favorite. Several of the many poems I enjoyed are: "Yellow Teeth," "Friendships," "Front Door," and "My Room."

The author's sense of humor is brilliantly reflected in her book. A number of the poems were written similar to the "nutty" style used in Asher Jones' book "Piranhas in the Tub."

The book itself is large in size (height and width). The poems are printed in a large font, which I think is also a real plus. Wayne Washington, the author's son, did a great job illustrating the book. His drawings add so much more to the fun of reading the poems.

This book would definitely make a great gift. The back cover reads: "WARNING: Once you start to read this book you won't be able to put it down. For kids who have said, 'I have nothing to do or I'm bored' THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!" Why not spend constructive time with your children reading a worthwhile book? After reading "Recess Rhymes," ask your kids what poems are their favorites.

I will donate my copy to the school I attended, Donaldson Elementary in Tucson, Arizona, to share the fun of "Recess Rhymes" with others.

As an author of children's books, I highly recommend "Recess Rhymes" for young readers.

What You Never Learned from the Little Brown Handbook
I spent the first 12 years of my education trying to figure out how to write a decent sentence. I spent just as much time failing to turn serveral sentences into a coherent paragraph. I had no idea how to progress from there to a proper essay. All anyone ever did is throw the Little-Brown Handbook at me and wonder why I didn't get it. In my first year at college, Short Model Essays was my Freshman Composition text, and it changed my opinion of my own writing abilities.

In my opinion, if you want to learn to write a proper sentence and in turn, a decent paragraph, pick up Strunk and White's "Elements of Style". If you want to work on turning those tools into a workable essay, read Ann Taylor's "Short Model Essays". It will be well worth your time. The essays are simple and have the kind of solid structure that beginners need to see and emulate. Experienced writers would profit from reviewing the effectiveness of various models in this book, as well.

Very Funny......Highly Entertaining
I found this book to be really funny. I was laughing outloud at most of the antics of Phoebe and he would be rescuer. It was a good thing that my husband wan't home or he would have thought I was weird. It was so nice to see such a strong opinionated heroine. I admit that she was eventually subduded, but not before she pushed another woman into a pond at a party. That part had tears running down my face. This book was really enteraining and I highly recommend this to anyone who needs a good laugh.

a fun read
Phoebe Hampton's car broke down on a highway, and in bad judgment accepts a rid from some very unsavoury types. Being typical Jayne Ann Krentz ( Jayne Taylor is one of her earlier names when she wrote series romance), the spunky heroine escapes them and stumbles to the mountain cabin of Harlan Garand. And he is hardly you knight in shining armour. He tells her to get back into the car and leave. She tries to make him understand her situation, but he really shows little sympathy. Not that he is a complete louse, he just thinks this is another attempt by his matchmaking Aunt Flo to get him married.
He grudgingly lets her spend the night still not believing her story, buts getting very exasperated with her insistence she escape from two men, until he later catches one trying to sneak around his cabin.

Once they return to town Harlan suddenly becomes very dominant and 'informs' Phoebe they will get married.

A wee bit dated, but still fun for JAK fans.

This Cruel War: The Civil War Letters of Grant and Malinda Taylor

Great letters but lackluster editing
The letters included in this collection are noteworthy for their content and relative completeness. Rarely does one get to read both sides of a Civil War correspondance. Usually letters from home were lost or destroyed during troop movements and only the soldier's letters remain. Grant Taylor, however, managed to hold on to many of his wife's letters and the perspective this gives on the dynamics between husband and wife is fascinating. Anyone who doubts the impact of homefront hardships on the frontline soldier need only follow Grant Taylor's growing frustration as he slips from uneasy acceptance of his military service in 1862 to depressed introspection and resignation toward his own death in 1865.

Editorially, this book suffers from a military slant that avoids discussing the very things that make these letter important: the soldier's concern for family and home and the impact that concern had on his mental and emotional condition. Footnoting is haphazard at best and wavers between military history and endlessly repetitive genealogy. I can appreciate the work that went into identifying each person mentioned either by given or nicknames, but by page 30 we are already familiar with who the cousins and brothers are and don't need to be reminded.

Read the book for its appeal as a primary source but skip the notes.

Two views of the Civil War told personally
This book is a collection of 160 letters between soldier-husband and homefront-wife from 1862-1865. The remarkable quality about this collection is the interaction between Grant relating his military experiences and Malinda keeping him informed about their children, the farm, and friends and relatives in their community. Very readable book!

superb
Many hard hours have been put into this book. First the letters had to be transcribed from a handwriting to a typed print. You feel everything from this aspect...especially when you know lineage. The reader appreciates the finest detail. A movie could come from these letters so easily...this was the time!
