Keep 'em coming, Ms Asai!
I wrote a review for #1 of this series, and just mostly want to confirm that it's still good. Fun story line and illustrations! Can't wait for further volumes.

Very Good Book
If you work with the GITT (General Integral Transform Techinique), solving fluid mechanics and heat transfer problems on a pos-graduate level, so this is your Bible. A little confusing on the nomenclature for beginners, but it is not a big problem if you already have same experinece with the equations.

A Renewed Taste for Life
Renato's Luck, from the first word to the last visual, is the perfect read for anyone seeking a renewed taste for life. Jeff Shapiro has taken the Italian culture and woven a tale of hope, faith, and new-found happiness throughout his characters. Renato, in particular, becomes the small town hero of a delightful Tuscan town. Every character that Renato encounters shares a unique tale, simple yet so very Italian. Amazing for an American expat living in Tuscany. The visuals in this book are so precise that anyone who has visited Siena, Montalcino, or anywhere in Tuscany for that matter will no doubt be transported back to the tranquility of the Italian countryside. I loved the Italian phrases throughout the book, including their incredible translations! Bravo, Jeff Shapiro. Bravo, indeed. A must read for all!
What a storia!
Having returned from a few months in Italy, I have wanted to stay in touch with all the "life" that Italia offers ... this book is a wonderful way to recapture the experience. The way Shapiro builds his characters and their dilemma, he really wraps the reader into Sant'Angelo. Che bello ... bravo Shapiro!
A perrfect read for a gloomy day!
I highly reccommend Renato's Luck to anyone who enjoys a chraacter driven novel full of interesting yet familiar characters. I found Renato and his fellow Tuscan villagers to have sharp insight into the absurdities and joys present in everyday life. Renato confronts the fears and challenges we all face as we get older and begin to question the choices we have made in life. The answers that Renato finds to these questions point to important truths that are present in our own lives.

Revolución or muerte
This short book is one of the wonders of journalism of all times. John Reed takes us into a journey of Revolutionary Mexico and we end up enjoying every minute of it. The description of the "hombres" is touching and Pancho Villa is great. Very recommended! But when you buy it, be sure you will have time to read it, because you won't be able to put it down.
Smoke Gets in Your Eyes
In this account of his adventures in the advance to Mexico City with Pancho Villa's armies, John Reed gives an excellent account of what it was like to have been there. Luckily enough for him, historians, and adventure lovers alike, he was on the winning side and survived to tell his tale. His tale is his aspect of the venture among the soldiers who fought the battles, rode the trains, suffred the hardships of civil war, and tasted the glow of victories won on the way to the capitol city. It's gritty, putrid, rough and tumble and the food isn't great but at the end you get a heck of a kick from surviving it all.
John Reed's writing style is great
This book was written over 80 years ago, so as military journalism it is quite dated. However, the author's portraits of people and places are so vivid that the characters and events seem to come alive. The author displays a novelist's talent for description. It is a very sympathetic portrait of Pancho Villa. I don't know how historically accurate it is, but it is certainly interesting reading.

Thought provoking. Could be a bit more concise.
I read this book as part of a cultural anthropology correspondence course through the University of California, Berkeley in 1997-98.
The book contains many important ideas. For example, chapter three on imperialist nostalgia is a must-read for anybody who wants to understand the underpinnings of Western attitudes toward other cultures. Very eye-opening.
There are other important ideas throughout the book. The tone of the book is scholarly and a bit labored. It took me more than a little discipline to finish the book. I don't fault Rosaldo for this; the blame goes to the editor. This book is important and needs a light to moderate developmental edit to make it accessible to its audience.
Rosaldo has made a very important contribution to cross-cultural understanding.

A Serious Introduction to Genes
I was looking for a good introductory type book into Genes and Biotech and I think I found one. This book starts from Cell and explanis DNA RNA all that good stuff with nice tecnical drawings showing the growth, partitions, mutations etc. It is written for educational purposes so it is not popular science type that all in words, it is serious but you do not have to be a med student to understand this. A good bilogy background and serious reading will do.Book continues with other subjects related to genes and DNA. I particularly liked the sections about Brain, the machinery and the design of it. it is a perfect book about DNA and Genes and life.

Important history of German and American saucer projects
One of the more important books of this decade! Their research and explanation of UFO's is a seldom heard alternative to the other 2 choices: aliens or natural phenomenom. The long cover up of US involvement in saucer projects is starting to unravel.
Essential if you wanna know what is really flying out there.
Thing is, the UFO story is one where one has to dedicate a lot of time before he could even come close to any informed view about it.
What is really flying out there, and more importantly, is there anything weird or "non-earthly" flying out there at all??
That's what this book tackles. Flying craft having the appearance of the now cult "flying disc" were on the drawing boards since the 30s actually. This is fact, proven by several documents that the Nazis left behind. Whether these craft actually ever flew or were tested reamins a question, but there is enough evidence to suggest that not only they did fly, but that such craft were actually tested all through the 50s the 60s and the 70s.
It's quite plausible that "flying discĀ§ shaped craft are today's most precious military secret.
From there on it gets foggy. Why are they still a secret? That question begs an answer, an answer that for the time being ahs not been adequately answered.
But for anyone interested in the topic, this is essential reading. It's a very well "constructed" book, it provides actual data (photos, diagrams, dates, names, documents)..And it attempts (to a very satisfactory degree) to sift through the myth and the truth. You cant call yourself a serious researcher in the UFO lore without having read this.

This is the best book on "Man-Made" UFOs
Packed with illustrations, this is the best book on the unusual subject that many UFOs are part of a top-secret project that began during WWII. Vesco was an Italian aircraft engineer who knew what he was talking about. He claims that Foo Fighters were developed in Germany, as were "discoid" craft. These German scientists then were moved to New Mexico where they created the secret space program. This book will amaze the reader with many references and the history of Project Paperclip scientists and the genisis of "flying saucers" made on Earth by humans. I love this book!

I am a new person-training to stay alive. The people I trusted, I now fear. The people I trust now, I am placing in danger.
I'm told a good samurai can make herself invisible. And I want to be invisible right now...to every person except one.
The Book of the Shadow continues to follow Heaven's growth as a person. After another attack, she finally makes the decision to move out on her own. Finding a job for the first time(and then having to quit it), Heaven lives with her new found friend from last book, Cheryl. More information about bother her adopted family, the Kogos, and the Yukemuras. While still trying to figure out Heaven's old life, her new one becomes even more complex. Now, Hiro and Karen are dating. Teddy's attitude and actions towards Heaven are not only genuine, but are confusing Heaven even more.
I really enjoy this series so far and I am looking foward to the future books. It is not only a funny look at how people are, Samurai Girl teaches much about how Heaven finds herself when her life is turned upside down. I can really relate to this book in the sense that my life has also been very sheltered and pampered. Although not to Heaven's extreme, Carrie Asai shows a part of the Asian society that many people must live. In each book, you can see the struggle one must go through. Even though this is an adventure book, the characters are very human. How greed, power, and loyal intertwines. That no one is really a superhero and everyone has flaws. Every character has their reason for their lives, and those reasons are no necesarily wrong. Just different. I can go on and on about the different analysis of each character and theme, but I'll leave that up to the reader. It isn't a book for everyone, but it is very entertaining. The deeper meanings in this book (as in every single book in existance, since we all know that books have those deep hidden meanings...er...sort of) are up to the individual readers to decided. I just like it. If only the publisher would hurry up.
