The best book ever...
As an avid reader for the last 30+ years, this book is my all time favorite. It is not only a wonderful love story, but it also teaches a vital lesson for today's society - "Different is not synonymous with Wrong!" As a fellow fan of this book also stated,I am elated, after 10+ years of reading this book annually,to discover a sequel.I am waiting breathlessly for its arrival!

E. committed the worse possible sin, she married an American
This is my all time favorite. Lois Swann should be writing more novels, this was "her destiny". I read this 25 years ago, and still read it once a year. I do not let this book out of my possession. A good read, whether you read about Native Americans or not. A true love story.

Thank you Lois!!

Sequelmania
As Swann's first book The Mists of Manitoo has long been my favorite all time book, I was both elated and fearful when I learned there was a sequel. Torn Covenants was good, but not nearly as good as its predecessor. It has a good deal more violence in it than the first book, and I would have been happier to know the fate of Wakwa's first wife as well as a more concrete ending. Again Swann's talent for writing is exhibited, however this is not a book for light reading. Am I sorry that I read it? No---but I would love to speak with Ms. Swann and see what exactly did happen or maybe entice her to make this a trilogy as the setting ended with Elizabeth's son still a baby leaving plenty of room for much more in the lives of these dynamic characters.
