AUTHOR'S OVERVIEW OF THIS SERIES
THE SCYTHIAN STONE is an award winning first episode in a five book series. This epic adventure follows Daynin McKinnon and a host of characters through trials and tribulations in their early medieval world. Though a true fantasy (complete with sorcerers and mysticism) this book draws heavily on historical times, places and terms. Readers are completely immersed in a world that is not only exciting, believable and fun to read about, but where they can actually learn something in the process.

Full color graphics, links to related websites and many other unique features have garnered this series numerous awards for eBook excellence on the worldwide web. It is not just a reading experience, but a multimedia one as well. One young reader characterized the series as HARRY POTTER meets Tom Clancy. Flattering words, I have to admit, but this series is mostly just fun. It was a hoot to create and even more fun when I hear comments like that. I hope you agree.

The second episode, THE BLACKGLOOM BOUNTY, will be here at Amazon soon. Look for episode three, THE REGENTS OF RHUM in the coming months.

WOW!
I have to say this was probably the most incredible book I've ever read. I like lots of genres besides fantasy but this book really just blew me away. I reccomend that everyone who has the time to read The Scythian Stone does so because it is trully a chip of genius from the authors talented mind. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Fun book for kids and parents
My 5-year-old loves this book. He enjoys pointing to each thing and saying what it is. He also loves the sillyness. The grouping of objects in categories helps children conceptualize how things are similar and different.

Grover and Unschooling
This is one of the best books to trigger people's knowledge of how to learn on their own, and where learning is. More than showing what IS in the museum, Grover shows us that the museum is an artificial, tiny part of the whole wide world, and that we can step out into the sunlight. I had mentioned this book months ago and am glad to see it's still in print, still available to make the lights go on in the minds of children and their parents! ... I whole heartedly recommend this book to anyone teaching a child at home!

GREAT FUN, ENTERTAINMENT AND LEARNING EXPERIENCE!
This book is a must-own! GROVER AND THE EVERYTHING IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD MUSEUM should win an award! It is hard to believe one can find something this wonderful for 3 bucks!

Grover is so entertaining as we follow him through 1) THE THINGS YOU SEE IN THE SKY ROOM, 2) THE THINGS YOU SEE ON THE GROUND ROOM, 3) THE THINGS YOU SEE ON THE WALL ROOM, 4) THE THINGS YOU SEE UNDER THE WATER ROOM, 5) THE LONG THIN THINGS YOU CAN WRITE WITH ROOM, 6) THE CARROT ROOM, 7) ALL THE VEGETABLES IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD BESIDES CARROTS ROOM, 8) THINGS THAT MAKE SO MUCH NOISE YOU CAN'T THINK ROOM, 9) THE SMALL HALL, 10) THE TALL HALL, 11) THINGS THAT CAN MAKE YOU FALL HALL, 12) THE HALL OF VERY, VERY LIGHT THINGS, 13) THE HALL OF VERY, VERY HEAVY THINGS, 14) THE THINGS THAT CAN TICKLE YOU ROOM, 15) THE THINGS THAT ARE CUTE AND FURRY ROOM where Grover decides to display himself.

I know that all the above sounds like alot of reading but I'll let you in on a little secret: [whispering] it is not everything in the whole wide world! [Ha!] Grover notices this too and says "Where did they put everything else?" He comes to this giant double-door with a sign above it that of course says "EVERYTHING ELSE." "AHA!" says Grover and enters.

This is one of the best, funniest books we own that my daughter and I BOTH enjoy. There are plenty of objects for her to learn and it is great entertainment reading a book with the charming, loveable Grover in it and laughing at all of his antics! Every family should own this book! I wish more books were this funny and entertaining yet a learning experience at the same time! 10 STAR BOOK FOLKS; IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS! BUY IT!

Would you like to play hide and seek in this book
I read this to a class of 2/3 year olds and a class of 3/4 year olds and the kids ggigled through the whole book. They answered Grovers questions and wanted it read again and again. This is very similar to the Monster at the End of the Book. I highly recommend this book.

Great for kids
This was one of my all-time, absolute FAVORITE books as a small child. It was so silly and such fun. It still makes me smile.

Bonding with your child or young friend
I have been searching for this delightful book in children's stores for some time. I have five children and wore out two copies of this much loved book and I was thrilled to find it here! If you can try to imitate Grover's voice a bit when you read it to your child,it makes it even more special. The declaration at the end about the child being the reader's BEST FRIEND brought tears to my eyes almost everytime we read it.This book is a real TREASURE. I heartily encourage you to try this book out on your favorite,(or even troublesome child), and watch them melt as you tell them from the bottom of your heart,"You're my BEST FRIEND!"

A Winner!
My daughter loves this book! Grover shows your child 'resting places' for different body parts (thumb, hands, nose, etc) and invites you child to try them. Our daughter learned her body parts this way, but still wants to read the Grover book. Fun and educational, this was one of the best gifts my daughter received on her first Birthday. It is hard to find books that she really likes, this one is a total winner.

children of all ages will love this book!!!
We first found this book when my nephew was born, over 18 years ago. He loved it so much we had to read it several times each time he was at our house, so we got him his own copy. We still had to read it when he came over and his parents read it to him every night(no skipping pages allowed, no matter how many times we had read it !). Both copies were completely worn out. We have been looking for more copies since then. It is surely a sign of how good this book is that it is nearly impossible to find in used book stores.

My favorite childhood book!
This was my favorite book when I was a baby. My dad used to read it in funny voices, and I would crack up laughing the whole time! It's the anticipation that really gets you laughing! Now I am 17, and my 2 year old nephew is now enjoying it every day. It is an adorable, fun book that your children will enjoy and love time after time. My 2 year old nephew always says, "wead mahmahr book!" I recommend it to everyone!

I Love Furry ol' Grover!!
I used to have this book when I was a little girl and I bought it for my two boys who are now older and have since gotten rid of it, and I LOVE THIS BOOK! It was my favorite as a child, it was my older boys' favorite, and now I've had a baby and I want it to be his favorite too!! Grover is just so silly and cute in this story that you just have to LOVE him!! Everytime I read it, I laugh and giggle because it is just too silly!! It is a definite must have for any child out there! Grover leads you all the way through the whole book telling about this scary monster at the end of the book and how frightened he is, and then ... well for those of you who haven't read it I don't want to ruin it for you...heheheh! Enjoy!

Not as good as the original
First let me say that I was disappointed when this book arrived because it's a small cardbood book. When I read "hardcover", I was thinking it would be the same style and size as the original Monster at the End of This Book. I also thought that since my 2 year old loved the original one, this would be a shoo-in as a new favorite. Boy was I wrong! I've read this book to her exactly 3 times and that was because I was the one to choose her bedtime book. She definitely prefers the first one.

Great Children's Book
What a great book!! Reading this book just before bedtime when your preschooler is "afraid of monsters" is ideal. Are all monsters bad? Grover is afraid of monsters and Elmo is curious. Little Elmo wants to see the monster at the end of the book, but Grover tries to discourage him by placing obstacles in his way. Will Elmo ever see the monster? My 3 1/2 year old thinks this book is great and even participates in the reading. A great read for children and parents alike.

almost as good as the first Monster!
This is an interactive book....the kids hearing it read to them will help you decide whether to listen to Grover and stop turning the pages, or go on with Elmo...it's just what the pre-schooler loves, and I enjoy it as well!!! The first one was only with Grover, and I gotta admit, even better. Buy both!

An invaluable resource for quick artist info
As the former Acquisition Manager for the Hard Rock Cafe memorabilia department I found this book to be an invaluable resource time and again. I am still involved with the memo world as an online content specialist and use this book virtually everyday as I don't think anyone can remember everything verbatim no matter how involved they may be with music and/or it's history. The information contained in the RS encyclopedia offers a quick reference to chronological listing of each artists discography and the text usually supports that with info regarding more significant artist career movement. As always, no amount of information is ever too much and this volume at times does leave a little bit to be desired, but as a quick reference and informative overview guide it is definately commendable and it includes a greater number of artists than any other reference book I am familiar with . The only other book I find to be more useful with regard to specific chronological movement of an artist's career is entitled "Rock Movers and Shakers" by Dafydd Rees/Luke Crampton, 1991, it may be out of print but is still available second hand, however due to the degree of content on the artists included therein, it does not cover as great a degree of entries as does the RS Encyclopedia. Another good resource/review guide are Trouser Press Rock Publications. Individual biography/autobio offer the most detailed resource providing they are penned by a respectable source.

Buy several.. one for you and others for gifts
This is a book that belongs on every music lover's book shelf. It is the type of reference book that any rock lover would like so, you can be sure it will be appreciated if you give it as a gift. If you don't know what to get a friend for a gift, this is a sure bet. The book is comprehensive in that it has entries on even fairly obscure performers. You can look up just about anyone. Years ago, the Holy Modal Rounders were performing at my college and the band drifted into my dorm room where a few friends of mine and the band partied. Of course, I wanted to find out more about them and they were listed. Everyone, from the pioneers of rock 'n roll, to rock stars of the 90s are included in this book. No matter what era of rock and what rock style you are in to, the artists are sure to be incuded. Each band has a complete listing of personnel, so if there have been changes in the band, all personnel are listed and the dates of the changes are noted. I recommend this book to you and to your friends (for gifts).

excellent reference book, many hours of good reading
I grew up on Rock & Roll and beach music in the Portsmouth/Virginia Beach area, went to many concerts listed in the book, saw many of the performers in person, from the R&R reviews in the late 50's to the big 2&3 day concerts at race tracks, like Rockingham Speedway, NC, in the 70's. I remember seeing The Beach Boys at a small high school football stadium in Virginia Beach, while sitting on wooden bleacher seats, with the bands performing on the football field. The Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of R&R brought back many great memories, and fired up some that had been forgotten. However, I made a list, as I was reading the book, of those who seem to be missing from this edition. They include a variety of performers, such as: Robin Luke; Bill Deal and the Rhondells; The Swinging Medalions; Tommy Sands; Jimmie Rogers ("Kisses Sweeter Than Wine"); The Robbin Thompson Band; Ketty Lester; Bob Kuban and the In Men; and Lennis Guess. Each of these performers are played again and again on oldies stations, but were somehow left out of the book. While some may be considered "regional" performers, they all had hit records and deserve at least a mention in the next edition. Even more so than some of the English and African and European performers that no one here in America, much less, Virginia Beach, has ever heard of or even seen perform. I mean, why leave out Bill Deal and the Rhondells, the greatest band that ever played Virginia Beach in the 60's, and include Falco? Why was Robin Luke left out, but Manu Dibango included? Get my point!? I realize this book was not published just for the American reader, but, after all, did Cypress Hill really have a greater impact or contribution to R&R than Lennis Guess or Ketty Lester? I hope the next edition calls upon an editor who can really go back to the early days of R&R and include ALL of those true R&R performers who deserve the recognition given instead in this edition to the flash-in-the-pan performers, whose contribution to R&R is highly questionable. I look forward to the next edition, and in the meanwhile, my list of those whom I think should be included, who were left out by the "editors", will probably be longer and longer. But, aside from the omissions, I have had many hours of pleasure reading about the true poets of the 20th century, the stars of Rock and Roll!!
