Great Book
I love this book! I've been reading it to my daughter since she was about 5 months old (15 months old now) and she really likes it. It's one of the very few I'm not sick of yet!

Adorable
This was my daughter's favorite book from about the age of two until she got into Harry Potter. And it's still one of my favorites to read aloud. It's a gentle book that helps illustrate the importance of respecting and being aware of the differences of others. I'm sure your children will love this book, too.

Perfect nap time book for three year olds!
Turtle Time is a charming and wonderfully illustrated book. The language is rhythmic and full of humor. Great for repeated readings and fun for the adult, too.

Prayers, Praises and Thanksgivings
This is a beautifully illustrated volume useful for all ages in helping young people to become thoughtful, introspective and prayerful. It contains simple prayers, words and ideas for the very young and broader, more complex ideas for children as they grow. It also serves to demonstrate a commonality of spiritual interests and views across a broad spectrum of ideology

Beautiful way to add daily thanks to God
Stoddard, known for children's religious works (A Child's First Bible; The Doubleday Illustrated Children's Bible), turns to contemplative religion for children in this work. A beautifully illustrated collection of prayers develops through three stages. Beginnings, aimed at the new to prayer, is a compendium of short, easily memorized verses of thanks to God. Reaching Out turns the focus onto the more mature in belief, encouraging thanksgiving and wonder at daily blessings. The Great Journey is aimed at even older and more mature supplicants, perhaps better appreciated by parents than the children at whom the book is aimed. Isadora's gentle watercolor illustrations highlight the bounty of nature, and tenderly reflect the variety of cultures from which Stoddard has chosen her prayers. While Beginnings is composed of mostly Western ritual prayers, the book progresses into a wider circle of faiths, from Native American to Muslim to Hawaiian. It is also highly diverse in age, from ancient chants to modern poems reflecting a wonder and joy in remembering God's hand in daily life. The index to first lines is helpful in finding favorites long forgotten or newly enjoyed.

Delightful Bedtime Story
Charmingly illustrated dialogue between "Small" (a small bear) and "Big" (grown bear) about the many reasons Small is having trouble getting to sleep. The dark, a noise, a wrong-sized bed, a drink of water, and scratchy pajamas all conspire to keep Small awake. Big responds to each of Small's concerns with the same mix of love and humor that families everywhere can relate to. The rhyme and rhythm make this a fun book to read aloud. This book is one of our favorites.

This book just _sounds_ good
This is a book to be read aloud, and I've seen it hypnotize 12-month-olds, toddlers, preschoolers, and even school-age children. The illustrations are simple and funny, the prose has great rhythm and style, and it contains a sweet, gentle message about the power of imagination.

Great book for your little one for church or Sunday School
This is a very nice illustrated children's Bible. It is just right for my six year old to carry along to his "Bible Study" Bible story time - he feels like he needs to bring a Bible, since everyone else in the family brings Bibles to Bible Study.

Personal experience with the book.
My sweetheart and I are college students in Ogden Utah. One day when we had been dating for about a year, we were cleaning his family's farmhouse (where he lived alone) for a surprise visit from his parents. As I was straightening a closet, I found a copy of Warburg's I LIKE YOU in a box of his mother's keepsakes from her college days, an apparent gift from a roomate. I walked into the kitchen where he was furiously mopping, leant against the stove, and began to read the book aloud to him. At first we laughed, but by the end we were almost in tears--it fit us so well! I told a friend about the book and she ended up finding it and giving it to me for a gift; it has meant so much to me since. My sweetheart and I are getting married in a few months and we will display it and a short version of this story for our guests along with other pictures and objects which have meant something special to our relationship. If you have a close friend or sweetheart with whom you share a fun and close relationship, this book would make a very sweet and sentimental gift. But as far as I'm concerned Sandol Stoddard Warburg wrote it for Abel and me.

A book for any age
I was given this book as a child but it wasn't until I read it as an adult that I realized how special it is. Its perfect as a gift for friends, family, that special someone, or for yourself when you're feeling down. I read it whenever I want to remember how simple life can be or if I need a good laugh. I think it teaches you a lesson to live by: remember to be goofy sometimes and enjoy the silly moments in life with the people you love, I mean really enjoy them, like you would a parade, no matter what day it is!

Cb's praises
I will say quite simply that having read this book I can see more clearly who it is I truely care about. It describes friendship with an unmatched child-like simplicity that strikes the beats of every heart that's had a true friend. This book makes the perfect gift for anyone special in your life.

A good bridge betw. toddler bibles and bible storybooks.
This book fills a real gap in "first bibles." At one extreme are toddler bibles that have simplistic pictures and text. They bore my toddler stiff. In my opinion they are horribly inept at conveying the excitement, mystery, and poetry of the bible. At the other extreme are bibles for 4-8 year olds. These often have beautiful illustrations, but the stories are too complex and difficult to paraphrase. **This** first bible has captivating illustrations and simple straightforward stories. One page of text per story is about all my almost-3-year-old can handle, and when her attention wanders, I can quickly trim the story, and move on to another. The illustrations can also stand-alone, so I can compose a simple story from my own memory while my child looks at the picture. Or I can add details I think are interesting. So for us, it is a good way to start becoming familiar with the bible stories. My only criticism is that Jesus and his apostles look like white Jews of European heritage, and the Egyptions look like people of color. So at the least it could help perpetuate the myth that Jesus was white. The DK illustrated bible, in contrast, is more realistic and hence more inclusive. There are two books I've earmarked for later use -- the DK illustrated bible because it has so much information about biblical times, and the Kingfisher book of bible stories because the stories seem so fluid and readable. But both of those are too complicated for my daughter now. As I started off by saying, this book bridges the gap.
