A very in depth book!
While I am not a culinary student, I do love to cook and learn the science behind the food. This book is the most comprehensive, best photographed book I have seen. This is written for the student, or professional preparation in terms of quantities the recipes make. You can easily scale most of them to suit your personal needs. The book is divided into various sections there is a textbook feel as each area of food is explained thoroughly, then come the recipes. This book is nice as it offers many suggestions and ideas with each recipe. While this may not be the best choice for every cook at home, I think this is a good choice for people that want a little more out a cookbook.

Standard issue at SCI
I am a student at Scottsdale Culinary Institute, an LeCordon Bleu school in Scottsdale, AZ. This book is the first that we are issued and is used as a standard reference throughout our twelve month curriculum. It may be somewhat confusing for the home cook as there are many industry terms used, and all of the recipes are scaled for large production quantities. Nonetheless, it will give you a great idea of how things work in the food service industry and start you off to better home cooking techniques as well.

Excellent Book for Teaching Professional Chefs
I am currently enrolled in the Chicago Cook and Hospitality Institute in Chicago and this is the book that is required for all the classes I have taken thus far. It is an excellent text. It teaches both cooking and baking techniques. It is very clear and concise. The explanations in this book are great. The recipes taste delicious! I would reccommend this book for everyone with an interest in cooking and baking!

Shampoo has come!
As with all of my manga, there are some characters that I like more than others, some that I outright despise, and others that tickle me everytime I read the books. Ranma-chan and Shampoo are those two for me in "Ranma 1/2". Ranma-chan is just so much fun--she always has some weird little prank she's pulling (usually on poor Ryoga), and she is just so cute! Shampoo, a Chinese Amazon, is wild--she has been hunting the Saotomes for months, ever since she bestowed the 'kiss of death' on Ranma-chan for beating her in a tournament. But when she catches up to the Saotomes, she is once again defeated by Ranma, only since he was a boy at the time, she gives him the kiss of marriage and declares her love! Naturally, none of the Tendos or Saotomes are especially happy with this development. Ranma manages to get her to leave, but I have the feeling she will be back...

Ranma 1/2 is awsome! -^_^-
Volume 3 was the first Ranma manga i ever read. At first glance, I didn't think it would be any good (guess it was the skate-battle thing). but as i read farther, the story was more interesting. Ranma is no average high-schooler. He has the power to turn into a woman whenever a drop of water touches him. His uncle, Satome can also turn into a panda & Ryoga into Akane's pet pig, P-chan. Suddenly, Shampoo, a warrior from China, drops in for a visit (she's been hunting down female Ranma ever since she recieved the kiss of death). This time, male Ranma is there & fights her again;of course he won. Instead of getting the kiss of death,Shampoo falls in love with him;and reports that she must marry him by the rules of the Chinese female warriors (or something like that). Ryoga is overjoyed to hear this, knowing that it might give him a chance to have Akane as a girlfriend. But, Ranma wont hear of that. As he tries desperately to steal Akane's heart, A little bit of hope appears, when Shampoo "shampoos" Akane; ridding her of all memory of Ranma.

arigato, Takahashi-san! for this outstanding manga (& anime)!

IT ROCKS!
Ranma 1/2 Rocks! Ranma 1/2 Volume 3 rocks! Read it![.] In this book, Shampoo is introduced. She is a Chinese girl who is out to [destroy] girl-type Ranma. But I'll stop telling stuff now, because I don't want to spoil anything. This book is short compared to Volumes 1 and 2, so you have to immediantly buy the next ones....*sighs* oh well. They are so good, so okay^_^. Just read these books! THEY ROCK!

Has divorced parents
My mom and dad are divorced and I have watched them struggle at communitcation for many years. Although it's not perfect they have learned to do better by reading this book. I decided to read the book and now I have a better understanding on what they went through all thoughs years. I would like to thank you for writing this book because it helped my parents get along better. Now I have no doubt that they love me.

Great ways to communicate with non-like-minded people!
This book was so informative! How many of us know people who we don't particularly care for, but have to work with or share some part of our life with? Written in an easy-to-understand format, this book can make a difference to anyone in a botched relationship, who wants to make it better! Mr. Molina teaches how to get along with even the toughest individual and explains how to do it without feeling a need to be emotionally connected. This book would be great for former spouses, former business partners, hard-to-get-along-with bosses, contrary neighbors, etc. etc.! Thank you, Mr. Molina, for your insight and gift to all of us!!

The best book on divorce with kids I've ever read!
This is honestly the best book I've ever read on the subject, and I've been reading and researching for seven years. The last time things got difficult in my situation, I picked up this book and read it again and was startled by what NEW things I learned the second time around. My situation will never be perfect, but my own level of happiness has greatly increased because of this book. I have since bought two more books to give to others, knowing it will improve their lives regardless of someone else's actions. I thank Mr. Molina very much for his inspiring book.

Conan Doyle at his best.
This work of Sir Conan Doyle clearly shows that detective stories did not limit his interests. An excellent adventure and a well written one. What else do we need in a good book? This is very solid five stars.

very enjoyable
I expected to be disappointed with these stories since I knew that I would be comparing them to the Holmes stories. But, quite frankly, I enjoyed Etienne Gerard as much as I enjoyed Sherlock Holmes and when I had finished the book, I found myself wishing that Doyle had written more stories about Brigadier Gerard. Gerard is a very different character than Holmes, but the characterization is just as brilliant. I highly recommend these stories.

BRAVO ETIENNE GERARD
How Sir Arthur Conan Doyle can write a character that is irritatingly arrogant yet, charmingly loyal and naive is beyond me. The depth of Gerard's character rivals even the great Sherlock Holmes. Just as with his more famous counterpart(Holmes), Gerard is not just a hero(although there can be no questioning his bravery),he can also be a clown,(without ever realizing it)a ladies man, the greatest swordsman in the Grande' Armee(or at least so he tells us). With exciting short stories we venture through Gerard's career as a cavalry officer. He quite often bumbles his way into situations an officer of his rank should never allow himself into yet, it is these situations once gotten out of(after much daring and a little bit of luck)that build not only his career but, the readers passion for his character. These stories are an excellent companion to the more famous Sherlock Holmes stories. Where have all the writers with skills like Doyle's gone?

What a joy !
This cookbook is fantastic! My mom was Italian, and the recipes here are truly authentic. I loved the format of daily recipes, and I spent a week just following along. The stories are wonderful, it is like having a visit back to my old neighborhood of long ago here in Boston. My special recommendations: Joe Red's Chicken Meatball Soup, Bolognese Sauce, BOTH Pasta Puttenescas, Fried Pepper Wet Sandwich, Italian Cheesecake...OH, HECK...JUST TRY THEM ALL !! You will not be disappointed.

A delicious piece of history
I bought this book for my father-in-law who grew up in East New York and loves to cook. He is thrilled with the recipes which he says are simply written and authentic to what he ate growing up there 80 years ago. He also loved the pictures and rememberances of "the old neighborhood." I've never bought him another gift that made him this happy. He's buying a bunch to give to other Brooklyn friends.

Life on Pacific Street
I lived across the street from Our Lady of Loretto and went to school with the author, Gerard Renny. This november, my mom Graziella Tirino one of the last true "die hards" finally moved from Pacific St. The recipes and the stories along with the pictures had me thinking back to the old neighborhood and how much fun we used to have. We didn't have much but we had friends, good food and plenty of it. This book and the wonderful receipes are a part of my past and I look forward to sharing it with family and friends. aka Rosetta

No other book has made me laugh out loud as hard as I did.
Ranma is a hilarious series. In volume 2 I had tears in my eyes while I read! When you read, you can't help yourself from an occasional giggle. So if your in the mood for a funny book, I highly suggest Ranma 1/2 vollume 2. ^_^

So good! A must-read!
Ranma 1/2 Vo. 2 is an awesome book! It is a very hard book to put down (I only did because I had to go to school :( ). This book gets deeper with developing the characters and their personalities. You should read Vol. 1 first, because then this book would make MUCH more sense. But anyway, this is a great book in the Ranma series. This series rocks! When reading this book, sometimes I'd totally laugh out loud. It's funny. IT IS SO GOOD!! I'm obsessed with these books right now, in case you couldn't tell ^_^. But, anyway, read this book and this series!! I HIGHLY reccomend them!! Oh yeah, Ranma and Ryoga ROCK!!

Ranma rulz!
Ranma 1/2 is my favorite manga. It's hilarious, it's romatic comedy, and the characters are absolutely lovable. Not to mention the beautiful artwork of which I am extremely jealous.
A reviewer recommended it as a children's comic, but I don't think kids are the intended audience. This book is a romance, plus it isn't educational - it's pure, unbridled silliness. The storyline DOES NOT GET OLD. ^_^ Especially if the reader is in high school - everything rings true! That is probably what makes Ranma 1/2 so awesome - imagination and humor woven into the everyday world around us.

These are brilliantly done
Pokemon Adventures is probably the best vision of the concept that's sponsored by Nintendo. For the record, I recommend buying these in the graphic novel format.

This is a great series. It's a more mature story that isn't exclusively aimed at kids like the cartoon or the other comic. There are elements in these stories that will appeal to all ages. Red and Blue, instead of being a couple of abrasive children, are more like rivals should be -- with a healthy respect for one another. They work together, even help each other along at times when they know there's more at stake than their own pride.

The story takes some turns that are far darker than anything the show would ever touch, and most of the characters from the show who appear here are, such as the Gym Leaders, are, instead of silly characitures of how people behave, real characters with a passion for what they do. Misty and Brock, incidentally, kick ass. Both Red and Blue are serious about what they do, and there's a clear reason that they win as many fights as they do, not just the "Ash is the main character, so of course he wins" mentality the show has.

Even better, as the series progresses, there is real character growth. Over the course of the story, Red goes from being a Pokemon lover with a heart of gold to a brilliant tactician who can use his Pokemon's abilities in ways nobody can imagine.

I recommend this for anyone with a passion for good storytelling, anyone who has played the game, and anybody who thinks the Pokemon concept is interesting, regardless of whether you like the cartoon. This is the best handling of the material you will find.

A little bit different, but still excellent!
The Pokemon Adventures series is a little bit different than the original, but still is excellent. A new character (Instead of Ash) is in the book. The storyline is very good and would definitely recommend to a colleague. An overall 5 stars. Definitely worth getting!

151
This is a very nicely done book. It's not like the original Pokémon adventure. This one follows more closely to the Red and American Blue game. Instead of Ash and Gary, Ash is called Red and Gary is called Blue. There is also a girl named Green but she comes in a later book. There is also no Jessie and James, only the Team Rocket members you see in the game. Red is also a more mature and advanced trainer than Ash and Blue is wiser than Gary. Aside all this, there are only some other slight changes and basically has the same goal as the original story and is a great book.

Not much new
O'Niell's writings (the first 12 chapters) are as well written and exciting as ever. His vision of how humanity should enter space is unsurpassed, despite now being some 25 years old.

The additional chapters don't seem to add too much. I was hoping for a good description of where we've got to, and how things have changed. For example, in O'Niell's time, the richness, number and accessibility of Near Earth Asteroids was not known, but there is little in the book on the how these could be used to make O'Niell's original vision easier to fulfill. Likewise, Tether technology could reduce Earth launch costs and bring the vision closer to reality. None of this is covered.

John Lewis has a good section on Space Law, but to see new ideas from him, you have to read "Mining the Sky"

Overall, if you've never read The High Frontier, this book is an excellent buy. If you've already got the previous edition at home, the six chapters don't add too much, and there's better information on the internet.

The path that we have to follow NOW
The events of September 11th, 2001 taught us two lessons: (a) the Western World has to get rid of its dependence of oil and (b) a closed world with limited resources inevitably leads to conflict.

So, it is interesting to read "The High Frontier" and see that reasonable people - like the author, Gerard O'Neil - already knew those lessons about a quarter of century ago. And it is even more fascinating to see how those challenges can be overcome by simply expanding into a world where there are no limits: the Space.

O'Neil and his followers convincingly explain how profitable economic exploration of the inexhaustible energy and mineral resources of space is possible and how that will help to solve the problems on Earth itself - and, as a side effect, lead to space colonization.

Indeed, "The High Frontier" is not just a book for space enthusiasts: I would also recommend it for businessmen who want new ideas for tech ventures with *real* prospects for long-term profit - not the trendy fairy tales of Internet and biotech businesses that are quickly consumed in their own self-generated enthusiasm.

Enough talk
My stomach flips and I feel my fists clench each time I hear "how close we are to going into space". No Western politician can afford to have a view long range enough, or bold enough, to make this a reality. No Eastern nations have the money. This will take a private person or consortium with a long-range view to execute.

If you are a pessimist, this book will frustrate and anger you. Knowing where we could be, based on work done in the early 1970's will cause you untold mental anguish. If you are an optimist, this book will dig new ditches in your mind - allowing you to dream the impossible. The Intuitive will find food for vision; the Aristotlian will find meat and reality for implementation.

If you must read only one book that discusses the reality of humans living and working in space - make it this one.

This series is better than I expected
I LOVE InuYasha, but could take or leave what I'd seen of the Ranma anime. I still think InuYasha is Rumiko Takahashi's best work, but Ranma's very entertaining. Every volume manages to make me laugh. This one picks up at the end of Ranma's fight with Cologne leaving her so impressed with his skill, she surrenders the prize. Next she tutors Ryoga since her battle has left Ranma vastly improved so that Ryoga has no chance. Of course, Cologne has her reasons. Martial Arts Tea Service vs a monkey follows & the volume ends with a delivery girl race Ranma refuses to lose even though Kuno is the lucky recipient of the meal

How can you pass this up?
A story about a boy who fell into cursed springs, and is now only 1/2 man, the other half...a girl. Which a martial arts theme, a panda for a father, a fiancee that he didn't mean to match up with and loads of characters all seeming to be foe, how can you go wrong?! Althought Ranma 1/2 doesn't have a deep thick plot like anime you might be searching for, its a light read and very enjoying if your just looking for a wacked out anime that will make you laugh. I highly recommend this to anyone who has liked Love Hina, Slayers, Chobits and more! :)

This series just keeps on getting better!
WOW! I think my intro said it all. Ranma 1/2 is awesome, and this book is the best in this series (I have read Volumes 1-5). It is SO GOOD I can't describe it. This book has lots more Ryoga in it (Yea! Yea!), and very interesting events take place. My only question is, where's Gosunkugi??? He's way cool ( :) ). Well, READ THIS BOOK! I RECOMMEND IT AND IT'S SO AWESOME!

The Joy Of Fatherhood
This book is visually stunning. While looking at the photographs I found myself smiling, laughing, and yes, even wiping a tear from my eye. The photos of the fathers and their babies touches the heart. The brief text that accompanies each picture tells about that fathers hopes and dreams for his child. This is the type of book I'll pick up over and over again, not only because of the wonderful photographs, but because it is so uplifting.

A Joyous New Look at Fatherhood
I was transported to a higher level of consciousness as I viewed the exquisite photographs of fathers and their children, and read the tender, hopeful and caring words that accompany them. This book will not only lift your heart, it will inspire and encourage fathers to express their love and tenderness for their children in ways that fathers of past generations were often unable to do. I hope that many fathers (and mothers too!) of the current generation of children will enjoy this book and identify with the wonderful fathers who participated in its creation. We all need to celebrate and encourage good, loving parenting whenever we see it, and this book presents us with a perfect opportunity to do that.

Magical Book
Fathers: A Celebration is a tribute to the human spirit. What a wonderful way to tell someone that you love them.
