Maybe like what our wine producers have become, this book will aid the aritsan cheese community.
Besides all the wonderful knowledge of types and production, etc., what I am about is taste. This book has delightful recipes using these producers. To date the Goat Cheese, Apricot, and Sage-stuffed Chicken Breasts, Spinach and Fromage Blanc-Stuffed Chicken Breasts, Goat Cheese Cake with Peaches and Blueberries, and Herbed Sugar Snap Peas with Goat Cheese.
In support of these wonderful cheese producers!
The book begins with the evolution of cheese. It goes into the types of cheese, such as cow's milk, sheep's milk, and goat's milk cheese. She explains to us where cheese came from and how it grew in America. Then she follows through with a page of descriptions and even lets us in on how to pair the right cheese with the right wine. On the informative side, there is a reference guide pertaining to the types of cheeses presently being made from the fresh to the very hard. She also includes a glossary and a list of cheesemakers around the country. The author, with pictures of the different cheesemakers' labels, briefly tells of each one and includes some mouth-watering recipes. Some of the recipes are new to me, and I definitely plan to try them. My favorite recipe is the colorful and delicious "Marinated Pepper Goat Cheese and Roasted Tomatoes".
It's a fresh, wonderful book, and I encourage you to include it in your kitchen library.

It gave me some real insight on how I should be considering networking and upsizing. I answered more questions I had after spending 12 hours with the book, than I had spent searching the net or reading the other books for several months. I even read though the code and understood it, and contrary to the warnings the presentation still flowed well. I still know little VBA and am now going back to get a Wrox book on Beginnng Access 2000 VBA.
Concise, very detailed, stuffed full of info and reference. I'm a Wrox fan now.
One thing I do miss, is the usual Wrox opening statement where it is described whom the book is written for and if any previous programming skills are assumed. It's not until chapter 3 that you find out VB or VBA programming experience is assumed to make use of the chapter. Don't start on this book without any knowledge of VBA, since it is used in most of the coding examples. If you don't know VBA check out the following books: ISBN 0782123244, ISBN 1861001762 and ISBN 0735605920. An understanding of ADO would also improve on the usability of the book.
To make use of the books fullest potential, have a design plan of your database next to it and make notes or check for errors in your design when you go through the chapters. This helped me to improve on the design of my database.
Not essential, but it would have been nice if the sample code used in the book had been made available to the reader. At one place in the book the author even writes that the sample code is available from Wrox' website, but as of today it is not.
This book has given me the skills and confidence to start working on client/server solutions and integrating SQL server. It breaks down the entire complexity surrounding Access 2000 and database development to sizeable blocks and tools that I can piece together according to programming and design goals. A must have for any Access programmer on his way to become a true professional.

In describing the history of maneuver warfare, van Creveld pre-empts the maneuver warfare nay-sayers by going beyond simple parallels of the German model. Yes, he gives the reader an outstanding version how Nazi Germany 'Blitzkrieg' tactics (really the application of maneuver warfare concepts) devasted Europe in the opening months of the Second World War. But Dr. van Creveld also goes into detail regarding the Soviets' masterful turning of the tables on the Eastern Front, Israel's decisive brilliance in the Six Day War, and maneuver warfare's direct role in the defeat of Iraq in 1991.
Now, who should read this book? In my humble opinion this book should be mandatory for all new military officers and senior non-commissioned officer. Not because it espouses air power's importance in modern warfare, but because it gives the reader an excellent template from which to build a cohesive team and winning strategy for overcoming challenges. Hell, you could even cull out all references to air power and strictly look at the six principles of manuever warfare - I'm strongly considering doing my master's thesis on "Maneuver Warfare Concepts and Modern Business Strategy".
In short, whether you're a military member, aspiring military historian, or a business person looking for new creative techniques to conquering the competition, this book is for you!

As a banker, I found that this book can be used as a tool in the day to day of any banker, wanting to be one step ahead of the rest.
from the lessons of the depression, to rediscovering lending to companies, from creating a consumer lending business to the idea of foreign branches spanning the principal trade routes, moore was there. he hired and retained talented individuals who helped him raise the citibank banner from an also ran in the world of banking to the premier global franchise it was at his retirement.
as his successor, moore named walt wriston to lead the bank forward. he excelled in a ceo's principal job, to pick the right person for the company to not just succeed but to thrive.

Many of Ritts photographs in this compilation happen to be of a homoerotic nature. Ritts, who is openly gay, captures the essence of male sexuality perfect, and the results can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of their orientation.
I hope in the future Ritts comes out with another huge compilation of his work. His recent work with such celebrities such as Monica Lewinsky and Janet Jackson should be published in a volume, but for the meanwhile, purchase this book for your coffee table or library. It will make an interesting topic of conversation with anyone. Ritts is pure genius!

However, I do have to say it is the ugliest childrens book cover I have ever seen- you can barely read the title because it's on shiny reflective paper. The scan really doesn't do it justice.
The book really shines in its beautifully-drawn illustrations that recall the best of 40's and 50's picturebooks. Boldly composed double-page spreads, they're elaborate and humorous and delighted my daughter.
This is an unusually well crafted tale and should be snapped up.
