Greek grammar with a sense of humor
Steven's approach to teaching Greek grammar is concise and practical. His didactic methodology provides a map for the lost Greek student. Charts and summaries aid in clarity. At times some of the technical discussion can be overwhelming for the beginner. However, the text remains a reference work for Greek students long after they are through with their course work. Best of all, Stevens explains Greek grammar with a sense of humor. At times this is all that keeps a student going. In short: a wonderful Greek grammar for beginners and those in need of a quick "refresher text."

Excellent!
I studied Greek under Dr. Carlton Winbery and we used the first edition for our course textbook. That was six years ago, and I still refer back to Dr. Stevens' book when I translate. His textbook is not overly-simplified, nor does it innundate the student with grammatical jargon. Aiming for the first year student, Dr. Stevens has hit his target audience with precision. Some of the most useful tools in the whole of the book are found in the lists and paradigms found in the appendecies. A brilliant accomplishment by Dr. Stevens.

The Best Greek Grammar!
This must be the definitive Greek Grammar! Everything you could want to know about Greek while learning the language is here.

Well structured and Easy to comprehend
I was looking for books on strategy and I already knew the name of Sun Tzu. The Chinese edition I have with assertions is wordy and complicated so I do not quite grasping the ideas. It happened I saw this book in a bookstore. The book title with the Chinese characters (Sun Tzu) on the cover drew my attention. The translation and structure of the book is great and easy to read. The second part of the book has great outputs that apply the concepts to the current time. "In Summary" in each chapter is concise and it touches the concepts well. Overall the book is well structured and easy to comprehend. It provides foundation and space to readers that allow them to explore the subject further.

This book is excellent.
Michaelson's book Sun Tzu for Success really helps the beginner understand what Sun Tzu's AOW is all about. The first chapter includes an entire translation of STAOW. The chapters following that are analyses and interpretations of the AOW's meaning and how they can be applied to one's personal or professional life. A significant amount of the interpretation is what most Sun Tzu's followers have heard time and time again. In that sense, the book is nothing new. However, very few books give examples of how these concepts apply to the real world, giving this book its own niche. If you are a beginner and only want to buy one Sun Tzu book, this one should be it.

Gets Right to the Core of What Drives Success
I bought this book last week while on vacation in Miami, and finished it in three days (that says something considering this was supposed to be my vacation).

I have been in business for 16 years and have read business books of all kinds; however, in the end, this one stands alone as the best I have ever known.

Michaelson takes the principles of Sun Tzu and wraps around them the basic drivers of success: planning, persistence, discipline, etc. In the end, I realized that I hadn't heard anything that I'd previously not known - rather, it was simply being iterated in a way that, to me, was much more effective.

Basically, the book simplifies what many have often made too complicated: the process of uncovering the steps (not secrets, because there are none)to success. Why are some people far and away more successful than others? Is it who they know or is it what they do (the argument of the ages)? Actually, it's both - surrounding oneself with the right people (a network, according to Michaelson) is just as important as creating a plan, sticking to it, and moving on it immediately. Procrastinators will surely benefit from the principles outlined in this wonderful book because procrastination is simply not acceptable, according to Sun Tzu.

My copy is now completely highlighted, as I spent the better part of three days making notes and going over the salient points that warrant reference in the future.

This is my new carry-anywhere book. It will be my #1 reference point from now on. It's simply too valuable a tool not to have.

The Cops Are Robbers
Published in Paperback by Avon (1989)
Authors: Gerald W. Clemente and Kevin Stevens
Amazon base price: $3.95
Average review score:

I'm from Medford and know these cops and the story.
This is a very good recounting of what went on. There was a lot left out...such as witnesses (other cops) being sent out of state until things cooled off and a few other details which showed a wider conspiracy of silence.Medford is not a very large city and the 70's were frought with a high incidence of criminal activity - including an organized crime murder in a benign coffee shop full of witnesses. Overall it is worth the read, showing it doesn't have to be a big city to have big city crime.

Better Than The Brinks Job!
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, couldn't stop until my eyes dropped shut. A great first-hand account of police corruption in Masachusetts during the 1970's. I highly suggest this to anyone that grew-up during the era in Massachusetts.

A true story of how the Police turned on a community.
This book was incredible ! It shows how greed overpowers the will to protect the community. The Author writes how he breaks into the Former Depositors Trust bank in Medford, Massachusetts. The story tells of the secret acts they use to enter the bank's vault and remove the money. I recomend highly and on a scale of 1-10 I give it a 20 !

Something to Keep on the Nightstand
Lamm and Couzens provide some useful information on the so-called "potency pill," which claims to address the physical causes of male impotence. The authors never discuss, however, the feelings of inadequacy that usually perpetuate the problem. Those suffering from performance anxiety should consult additional readings.

Interesting and optimistic book - but watch out
A very optimistiv book, that is bound to be read by a lot of people in search of solutions to impotence. Without a doubt the information will provide help for those unaware of the possibilities of treatment.

But let's be careful out there. Dr. Lamm has a tendency to be overly optimistic and enthusiastic about new wonder drugs. Remember, this is the same guy, who wrote an entire book (Thinner at last) saluting Fen-Phen, without cautioning about possible side-effects.

So take the information provided with a grain of salt.

CNN's review of The Virility Solution
Review by Jim Argendeli

In the future, "Are you on the pill?" may be a question asked of a man

as well as a woman.

In the book "The Virility Solution" by Dr. Steven Lamm and Gerald

Couzens, the pills in question are the new and highly publicized male

potency drugs Viagra (sildenafil) and Vasomax (phentolamine). Lamm, a

New York City internist, and Couzens have written a very readable,

educational, eye-opening book -- not just about Viagra and Vasomax but

how the medication changes a man's definition of his own sexuality and

the effects it has on his partner.

The book tells of the surprising discovery of the medication and the

history of the treatment of male sexual disorders. The authors use case

studies and interviews to show the varieties of problems men and their

partners experienced pre-Viagra and the uncomfortable and awkward

solutions that were available, which included self-injection and

surgical implants.

However, the book is not just a public relations vehicle for the drugs.

The authors discuss the potential side effects (headaches, muscle pain)

and insist that patients treat the cause of their problems (physical or

mental). They also discuss overall health programs involving diet and

exercise. Long-term effects of the drugs are still to be determined.

The recent media exposure about the drugs lifted the covers off a

problem many men were too embarrassed to talk about, and in the first

week following Viagra's approval by the FDA, a record 36,000

prescriptions were filled.

As the book points out, having to take medication is not a sign of

weakness or inadequacy -- it means a man is dealing with his problem and

overcoming it in the most painless, practical way possible.

Unproven, unsafe, and found to be dangerous.
The book jacket describes Phen/fen in these terms: "These totally safe, fully endorsed medications are NOT amphetamines and are NOT addictive..."

These medicines never were proven safe or approved by the FDA for combination treatment. Nor should it be much of a surprise that they were proven dangerous. The drug company's lawyers and their medical spin doctors would confuse the issue of just how dangerous these medicines are, but their danger is not limited to heart valve damage, or PPH. Others have suffered from memory loss and depression. Some have have experienced psychosis and suicidal depression coming off of these drugs.

It would please me, someone who experienced some of these symptoms, to see Dr. Lamm and Simon and Schuster share in the staggering financial liability because of the Phen/fen disaster.

Something tells me that Dr. Lamm et. al. will slither away from legal responsiblity, but lets hope not from moral responsibilty.

I believed it.
Dear sirs, I read Dr. Lamms book in May 1996 upon my introduction to the drugs. I was so amazed at what I read. It made so much sense. The detailed infomation is great. I found the answer to every question I could think of as I read the book and considered the drugs. But now, I am confused. I don't understand where they are coming up with the reports about what fen phen is doing to people. I beleived every word in Dr. Lamms book. I took the drugs for six months. For the first time in my life I felt NORMAL. And now I can't take the drugs anymore? I am scared to death of the drugs and what they might do to me if I go back on the m and I am scared now for what they may have already done and has not showed up yet. I just don't understand. I lost 60lbs on the drugs, felt great, reffered many times back to the book as I was on the drugs,(my doctor reccomended I read the book by the way) I recieved good care while on the drugs. I had great success on the drugs and the book was the key that got it started. Now I am just left with the book and the memory of how I felt while on the drugs. I am happy person who loves life. I just felt so normal for the first time in the area of my appetite when I was on the drugs. It was a wonderful experiance for me. But now I am back up the scale by 40lbs. THOSE DARN REPORTS!! Who can a person believe anymore?? If I could be certain that Dr. Lamm was 100% correct and that the drugs were not going to kill me. I'd drag that book back out, dig in, and make my Dr. appointment.

Excellent! until the Rx Meds were pulled off the market!
I read this book, and re-read it several more times. It was a great motivator! I lost over 100 pounds. I copied the pages written for the doctors and gave it my family doctor. I just wish Dr. Lamm would write a sequel, or become an activist to help get the laws changed. Without the medication, I am gaining back the weight! The laws in Ohio are very restrictive! We need more doctors like Dr. Lamm on our side!

This book has a empty feeling
When I first picked this book up I thought it would offer insight into the dark world of police corruption. Well, I was wrong. This book only shows what one individual's thoughts and actions were at the time of their crimes. This book could have been excellent had it showed how corruption exists inside a police force in general. instead the author chose to write from an individual standpoint.
