A fun way to start learning Latin
I've always wanted to learn Latin so this is the first book I tried, as it looked fun and approachable. Well, I can tell you it does make Latin seem fun and an approachable language. I would recommend this book for the absolute beginner, who would otherwise not have access to Latin classes at school, university or otherwise, and wants to learn alone at home without feeling intimidated. Though presented in a light hearted way, the book's authors actually are Latin teachers in real life. While giving a basic and strong grounding in grammar and vocabulary, the humourous cartoons are hilariously funny and literary quotes and interesting snippets of historical information are included through the book. This book really makes you want to fall in love with Latin as a language. I'm very glad I picked this book as my starting point.

A literary gem that will stand the test of time!
An informative, uplifting and enjoyable story. The Treasure of Kefer Shimon is an inspirational masterpiece written in a scholarly style that is both entertaining and easily understood by the average reader. It centers on a young American priest who is sent out on a secret assignment by the Vatican to find the source of three ancient biblical scrolls and to establish whether they are authentic or not. What he discovers will shake the world of Christianity. It is a treasure kept hidden for 2000 years.

This book left me in awe, not only by the author's knowledge of biblical history and ancient languages, but by his wonderful writing style and the marvelous tale he wove. This is a classic that will stand the test of time for years to come. It will appeal not only to readers of historical fiction, but to readers of all faiths, Christian and Jewish, and anyone who likes to read. Thank you Father Stevens for this literary gem!

The Evolution of the Airline Industry
Published in Hardcover by The Brookings Institution (1995)
Authors: Steven A. Morrison and Clifford Winston
Amazon base price: $14.95
Average review score:

Good facts, but some conclusions are questionable
Lots of facts, but not much depth to them. Essentially their conclusions are that de-regulation has been a fanstastic success. If you read "Airline Management Strategies for the 21st Century,(a better book)" draws different conclusions. I think some of their analysis is shoddy and kind of shallow. Still, its got some good facts, and worth a read.

Excellent expository thesis
I will admit that this book is not for everyone. The casual airline enthusiast may have some difficulty sifting through the econometrics. This book is written more for academics. However, the concise, clear, well-written style leads me to no other conclusion but to rate this as an excellent book. The hypotheses are clear. The data is explained. Economic reasoning is used to posit their point. If you wish to know how economists look at and measure deregulation, then this book is a good choice. Indispensable for grad students in economics studying transporattion and/or regulatory issues.

I highly recommend this book it is very well researched.
This is the Author's second book on the subject, and both books are excellent (they have written numerous journal articles on the subject). Their treatment of air fares and hubs is particularly good. Their bottom line findings: deregulation has increased economic welfare, and the financial turbulence the industry faced in the early 90 was the result of an oversupply of equipment (the major carriers didn't forecast the impending recession and consequently ordered too many planes). I highly recommend this book it is very well researched.
