Insightful
This book offers much valuable information about what goes on emotionally when your expecting a child, and once you've become a mom. It helps you to understand many of the "why's" about what you may be feeling or thinking. While most books offer information on pregnancy, labor and delivery, they leave a very important subject untouched...the psychological and emotional side of it all. This book is all about that and definitely worth reading.

Warm and Informative
Although written by a man, this book seems to grab the psychology of a pregnant woman quite successfully. The writer asks the accurate questions and enlightens the reader with the detailed and satisfactory answers. This is not a text book though, it is like a complete novel of the journey of becoming a mother. Highly recommended...

A chef d'oeuvre...
I bought the book today and I finished it. Sterns did a great job. They explained a highly complex developmental theory very simply for everyone who want to learn something on motherhood. I am psychologist who has been interested in their theory in a very sophisticated way for a very long time but I felt that I learned a lot while reading the book. Everyone should read this 'tour de force' to understand themselves, their mothers, their chilhood, their motherhood and also their 'fatherhood'. Congratulations Nadia and Dan !

A Beautiful Mind
Dr. Stern's prose is beautiful. He presents, in near poetry-format, a fascinating look into the mind of an infant. Starting at 4 weeks and continuing to 4 years, he brings you into the world of a child. I couldn't put this book down! (And this is notable, given that I am a new Mom and have more than enough to do!)

lucid presentation of latest infant development theories
Daniel Stern is a world expert on infant development and psychiatry, as well as an iconoclastic and creative theorist. This book is a lucid and poetic presentation of his theories, accessible to the layman and full of treasures for the professional. It is the form of a set of small vignettes from significant stages in the devellopment of a little boy, Joey. The poetry is necessary because much of the concepts refer to pre-verbal stages of development, and it works very well. This book is a good companion read to _The interpersonal world of the infant_ which presents the ideas from a technical point of view, with the supporting scientific evidence.

signifigant research effectsof first infant/parent understan
This is a very important book for the research it presents re. the nature & lifelong effects of parent/infant relationships developed through the first year of bonding. So soory it is out of print as there are few easily readable books on the market that help parents comprehend the data in such a beautiful way. Knowing that their child's entire future is effected by the nature of the relationships established in infancy with each of its parents, can assist parents in supporting optimum development of their child in all areas of the child's development: emotionally, intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually.
