"Anna's Garden Songs" great for gardening parents and kids
What a lovely book! The pictures are detailed, accurate and entrancing, and the poems are amusing and show a deep love for gardening and family. Anna, her brother Peter, her friends and her Grandfather have all sorts of fun in the garden and orchard. Usually, each page describes a specific vegetable. My daughter loves the entry on cabbages -- especially Grandfather's rampage on the caterpillars that eat them. "He yelled so loud, he scared the cat!" Read the poems, enjoy the pictures, then go out in the garden and see how they compare to real life. This book is a great way to get little children interested in gardening (we've been borrowing it from the library since my daughter was two, and I'm so glad to see Amazon has it so we can get a copy to keep), and parents won't get bored with it either. The more we read it, the more we love it. Try it out yourself!

Absolutely, anything she does is wonderful. She is blessed
I have not read this book, but I have bought copies of anything/everything I see of Sara Steele. Not only is she truly blessed, but gifted as well. She paints with her heart and soul and leaves no doubt of her talent. When I first started painting, I used Sara Steele and Susan Moyers beautiful way of doing art, their color combinations, being able to "see" through their eyes. What a lucky break for me!!!

Office Politics : The Women's Guide to Beat the System and Gain Financial Success

THE book on how to suceed in the corporate world for women
Not for those wishing to believe in fairy tales, "Office Politics" shoots straight from the hip and offers young women who wish to work in the high-paying corporate sector plenty of excellent advice on what the workplace is really like and how to maneuver in it to their best advantage. I have never read anything as honest as "Office Politics"---it also includes an excellent bibliography of other must read books. "O.P." is essential for any woman wishing to enter or re-enter the corporate world---however, it is not "politically correct", which makes it all the more effective as a tool for moving up in the "real world". Overall, it's the best book I have ever read on strategies for working women.

You MUST have this if you work in an office.
If I had this book when I was starting out, it would have saved me a huge amount of difficulty in advancing my career. While this book is written for women, the vast majority of the material applies to men as well. Why go through the school of hard knocks when you don't have to? That's what Steele does for you with this book. Like all of Steele's books, it will open your eyes to the way the world really works and your life will never be the same.

Great book about the corporate working world; for Men Too
Even though this book is written towards women under 35 years of age, easily three-fourth of the material covered can easily apply towards men and others below upper management. The straight talk about promotions, job hopping, and perceptions in the corporate world rings true without candy coating the "Truth". Read it and learn!!

Simply a "must have" for ocean liner-buffs
"Queen Mary" by James Steele was everything i hoped it would be - and more. Although the author goes into detail with the ship's interiors to some extent, I think he told the "Mary"s overall story well. The book is packed with technical data and historic info all the way back to 1930, when this beautiful liner was ordered, until she was delivered in Long Beach, California, in 1967. Great photographs, too!

Splendid and unrivaled book on the Queen Mary!
Coloured photo's along with a history of this ship make the book not only comprehensive, but very interesting as well. The pictures alone make this book worth its cost. Highly recommended!

loved it
By far one of the best books written on the Queen Mary. The detail and research that has gone into the writing of this book is outstanding. Hats off to Mr. Steele for an excelent history of this wonderful ship. A must have for anyone intrested in the history of RMS Queen Mary.

slightly better than textbook, but still lacking
I used the textbook written by the same author in class, which was one of the most dense, example-less books I've ever read. The prep book is slightly better, explaining things clearly and briefly, but sometimes it does lack in depth. It should review more of the basics, even if they are elementary, such as how to write functions, or the order of accessing multiple functions. It was annoying to have to go online in the middle of a practice test to get the Marine Bio Case Study questions. But what really bothered me was that there were no EXPLANATIONS for the practice test multiple choice questions, only a list of one-line hints for about 10 out of 40 questions. I really can't learn from mistakes if they don't explain why the answers are right/wrong.

Better than their textbook, but still lacking....
Let me start off by saying that I got a 5 on the APCS AB exam in 2001 and we used Litvin's C++ for You++ as well as this review book. It gives good practice part II questions (The radix sort question was almost exactly like the AP question), but the multiple choice questions are too long and more difficult than the actual AP questions. They also didn't match up in quantity - there were more Big-O questions on the AP and fewer in the book, while there were more stack and queue questions in the book and fewer on the AP. The explanations for the sample questions scattered throughout the chapter are good, but the typical student would have been unable to draw the conclusion reached by Litvin by only reading the text before the question. Much better than C++ for You++ as a textbook, but as a review book it fails to prepare a student for the Multiple Choice section of the test.

Excellent review book that can help you get your 5 too!
I took the APCS AB Exam and got a 5. My teacher did NOT know any of AB material. After using this incredible book by the Litvins, in addition to the Barron's Teukolsky review book, I was incredibly prepared. Highlights of this book: the Big-O notation of common algorithms and practice tests. I recommend using the Barron's Teukolsky book to learn the material (if you don't already know it) first, then use this to review the material, using the Barron's Teukolsky book's practice exams, and then using this book's practice exams. The practice tests in this book were HARDER THAN THE AP EXAM for me.

I give my highest recommendation for this outstanding review book.

Great read aloud for a world cultures curriculum.
As an avid reader and a fifth grade teacher, I found this book to be intriguing. The main character travels through a number of societies as he explores Earth. Ms. Steele made each exploration of a culture interesting because she included the reader by describing the items before naming them. As I read, I envisioned my students trying to figure out what the items were before the items were named in the book. I plan to begin my school year with this book as a read aloud (I got this idea from an exceptional teacher I worked with this summer!) to introduce my students to aspects of world cultures.
