Lily and Trooper are wonderfully developed characters, visually. The paintings are wonderful in each page-bright, cheerful, cartoon-like. Children will really love the pictures, but the drawings have to carry the book because the story is too simplistic, and doesn't really have that quality that engages a reader. Still, the entire season-series is enjoyable.

While Mom's doing her chores, her little son is drawing on the walls, making tents for his stuffed animals out of sheets hanging on the line and taking a bath without shutting off the water. My little 4 year old loves this book (he also feels that Mom should pay more attention to him) and I have to at least admit that the child shows some creativity in the destruction!
