Chapters examine militas in this country
Terrorists Among Us provides a thought-provoking exploration of the dangers posed by terrorist groups not outside the country, but at home - considering how movements have emerged against the backdrop of regional struggles against the American government, and how they continue to pose a threat. Chapters examine militas in this country, their trading of weapons and stockpiles, and their motivations.

Indianapolis native identifies with experiences of author
As a counseling psychologist who has been surprised by the number of unexplainable experiences that can occur during a therapy session, I found Captain Snow's book to be astounding. His analysis of a past life, and the time and effort taken to review both the reliability and validity of his research methods will help many skeptics to reform biases against the existence of reincarnation.

I wish the author would have shared more about his relationships with both his wife and Carroll's wife - though we are told that his wife is a skeptic, I find it hard to believe that she could reject her husband's evidence after years of research.

A thoroughly good book and a nice introduction to the area of reincarnation and the field of past life regression therapy.

Phenomenal Research
I was amazed at the length Captian Snow went to prove he, himself, had lived a past life as portrait painter Carroll Beckwith. Being a dective gave the author added diligence and preseverance in researching every detail of his regression to discover who this painter was.

Unlike the book Search for Grace: A True Story of Reincarnation by Bruce Goldberg which I found lacking in research Captain Snow leaves no detail untouched. Author Goldberg's book was interesting but in cannot compare to this indepth look at reincarnation.

Because of the author's painstaking research I found this book fascinating and hard to put down. The author also includes many pictures of Carroll Beckwith's paintings which added to the powerful image of this man having actually lived and died years before Captain Snow was born.

I was not, in any way, concerned with the fact that the author did not get the wife's name correct. Having read many other accounts of reincarnation this happens often. Names do not seem as important once a soul has left this realm of existence.

I highly recommend this book for those interested in past life regression or for those who may want more proof of its existence.

a Past Life book for skeptics
If you're skeptical about past life regressions, this would be a good book for you. The author started out as more of a skeptic than me, and possibly more so as you as well. He dealt with te information he received in a reading, like any detective in his place would. He went and looked at the data. Admittedly, he was doing so to disprove that what he had seen was a past life. After a point, when he hadn't found anything to disprove what he had seen, and numerous points that in fact confirmed what he had seen, he finally came to believe it had been a past life.

Useful year-round guide
Winter Hikes is a useful guide for all seasons. For the most part, the only thing that makes the hikes in this book "winter hikes" is their elevation. In reality the hikes in this book are enjoyable all year.

The summary information provided with each hike includes the distances, estimates trip time, trail type and other useful information such as the potential avalanche danger on the trail. It also includes the starting elevation and elevation gain of the trail so you can judge the potential for encountering snow.

The rating system takes some getting used to. Since many of the trails are in the lower elevations, don't expect jaw dropping views at every turn. Even highly rated trails will spend a lot of time in the woods.

Although I have said this guide is useful year-round, I think it is best for 3 season hiking. During the summer you should use other guides that provide better coverage of the high elevation trails.

A Snow Job, An Invitation To Fear
This book is the worst kind of fear-mongering. The author sensationalizes a complex subject, using anecdotal evidence from specific cases to generalize to some horrible conclusions.

One such conclusion, blatantly irresponsible, is illustrated in bald statements such as found on page 196--

"Stalking only stops defintely and permanently when the stalker dies" and victims "are still forced to look over their shoulders for the rest of their lives".

Of all the books available on the subject of stalking, this is the worst. It disempowers the potential victim, mindlessly regurgitating some of the prescriptive recommendations from the Paul E. Mullen book (Stalkers and Their Victims), while couching the entire spectrum of stalking types and behaviors in the same terroristic tactics of sensational "journalism".

If you suspect that you are a victim or on the verge of becoming a victim of stalking behaviors, skip this book-- it will only provide fuel for your fearful fantasies. Better, read Dr. Doreen Orion's "I Know You Really Love Me" and ponder the different emotional suffering experienced by Dr. Orion and her husband (each of whom were stalked, but each affected differently), or read Gavin de Becker's "The Gift Of Fear" and contemplate the contrast in the two kinds of fear that he describes in his book-- fear that is real and of immediate danger, and the invented, socialized fear implanted by imagination and media (such as this Snow Job).

terrific book!
this book is very good. i've read it and Captain Snow did a great job. but of course.. he is my uncle! ^_^

Misconception at its best
The american militia represents a diverse segment of our society. The armed citizenry. Of every race, creed, religion, sexual orientation and economic background united in thought and purpose. To preserve and defend america from the tyranny of government and her enemies both foriegn and domestic. The author, like so many others who have written on the subject advances a very narrow and negative view of this culture. Which is more a threat to freedom than their guns.

What Threat?
I did not like this book.I found it typical of most books that are written by cops who use self appointed experts such as the ADL and Southern Poverty Law Center as their only sources of information(hardly unbiased sources of info. on the subject).Mr.Snow also injects his own opinion into the book on several occasions(the Government is always right, only the police should own guns, blah, blah, blah)Nor does he offer any insight into why people join these groups such as Waco,Ruby Ridge and I.R.S abuses(all confirmed by Senate hearings). The reader would be better served by reading"American Extremists"by Laird Wilcon/Kerry Noble to get a more accurate account on the subject.

great book that has an interesting way of telling the inform
I just finished reading the book and found it was an interesting take on the malitia movement .

The book calls it as the author sees it . He even tells what the mistakes that Law Enforcement made when dealing with some of the militia movement people .

This is a must read in my opinion !
