Journey to the Soviet Union
This is the original book by the young Samantha Smith and her father, Arthur Smith, about her family's trip to the Soviet Union on the invitiation of Yuri Andropov. Samantha, an 11 year old girl, wtote a letter in 1982 to the new Soviet Premier, expressing her desire for peace. He responded with a letter and invitation to visit. This is the only account of the trip written by Samantha.

It was a good read; interesting.
"I found out about this book from a story about Samantha Smith in my language book when I was in sixth grade. The story mentioned Samantha's book and that's how I found out about it.

It is a good book.
Samantha Slade does not like babysitting her little brother or sister. She said they do
not listen to her which they don't.They do not like her watching them ether. She got stuck watching them because their parents went out somewhere. They got on Samantha's nerve as much as she got on their nerves. She hes never babysat them before in her life that's what she said in the book. They kept arguing at each other. Finally their mother and father came back from where they came from. Then she told her parents how they were not listening to her. They also snitched on her to about her telling them what or what not to do.

I like this book because it is interesting to read when you are bored or you have a book report you have to do for school.I like this book because the paragraphs is long enough to read a book at school for a book report.

Perfect Read for Pre-Teens
Samantha Slade ends up with the scariest and funniest of jobs: Babysitting monsters. Real ones.

The only thing is that somehow this family of monsters are just a little more delightful than the ordinary monsters most babysitters get dumped on them.

It's a fast reading book, perfect to hook the non-reader, and an easy read for anyone.

(Note: The review published earlier by the kid from DC was written by someone who didn't read the book. It is unfortunate that his/her teacher actually didn't confirm the book had been read before prompting its publication here.)

authors misunderstand L'Engle
Anyone who believes Madeleine L'Engle promotes paganism or anything immoral totally misunderstands her work. These authors have twisted facts to promote their OWN agenda, which is unfair to Mrs. L'Engle. Her books reflect her faith and love of Christ. People like the authors of this book want our right to free speech to be revoked. Anything that goes against their interpretation of the Bible makes them very afraid. Their aim is not to spread love (as is Mrs. L'Engle's), but to act in judgment of others. They don't want you to believe like they do because they are concerned for you; they just desparately want you to validate their myopic beliefs. God is the only one who can judge anyone else. The fact that these women wrote a book whose pupose was to condemn another human being because of her writings (which have helped countless people become closer to God) speaks for itself. God doesn't need anyone to police the universe.

This Is Must Reading For Any Serious Christian.
These researchers document how New Age philosophy infiltrates Christian churches and organizations. This book will open your eyes or it might step on your toes. But don't blindly accept or discount the contentions of the authors. Check out the research references for yourself and then draw your own conclusions. If you are a Texe Marrs fan, then you will want to pick up a copy of Trojan Horse and Samantha Smith's second book, Goddess Earth, which documents ties between New Age philosophy and the environmental movement

A far fetched idea that hurts real environmentalism...
The idea behind environmentalism is caring for the environment, the same is true for Paganism, but that doesn't mean that either carries the other's agenda. Christianity promotes "the Golden Rule", does that mean that IT is politically oriented and we should stop it? This book completely ignores the fact that a good idea is a good idea, no matter what other things are associated with it. Think again before you take this book seriously!

There's a demon under every rock....
Standing alone, a group of like-minded people working together to solve a commonly perceived problem does not a conspiracy make; recognition that ours is a global community with problems that require global solutions hardly requires an epiphany. Samantha does make a better case than most authors of this genre, but I don't think there is a case to be made.
One can only hope that Samantha finally turns her attention toward more pressing problems within the Christian community.

"Goddess Earth" tells it like it is.
The book "Goddess Earth" really opened my eyes about why the environmental movement is growing so rapidly in America and around the world. We should be taking care of the environment, but certain elements in the environmental movement should be of great concern to all of us. This book is heavily documented with quotes from Al Gore's "Earth in the Balance" and from other highly influential people such as Ted Turner who promote government control of the earth and its people as the only successful means to protect the environment. "Goddess Earth" also shows how earth (Gaia) worship is being promoted in children's cartoons and videos, in classroom discussions on the environment, and in the media. Paganism, witchcraft, and native American rituals are becoming widely acceptable, all in the name of the environment. This book reveals how many churches and religious organizations have gotten on the "green" bandwagon, because it is considered one of the today's hottest "politically correct" movements. When you read "Goddess Earth," you'll realize that much of what as known as the modern environmental movement is really a dangerous tool to brainwash chilren (and adults), encourage them to "voluntarily" give up their rights and freedoms, and submit willingly to increased government control, all in the name of "protecting the environment." I feel that "Goddess Earth" is a tremendous wake-up call to Christians and other concerned citizens, and I highly recommend this book. We must all be involved in spreading the truth rather than fiction about the environment.
